Technical Details

Released 1967, TOPS-10 was a proprietary OS for the PDP-10 mainframe. It directly evolved from the PDP-6 Monitory program, which dates back to 1964. TOPS-10 was notable for being a popular hacker system, being fast, flexible nature, and playing host to a number of new technologies - such as multiplayer games and early chat programs.

Today TOPS-10 is still in use, primarily as a hobbyist OS on emulated PDP-10 systems.

Character details

General

TOPS-10-tan is depicted as a shapely woman with long, wavy lavender hair and purple eyes. During her days in the DEC Military she wore the standard uniform; today her wardrobe consists of contemporary casual-wear, with a few pieces from her old uniform included.

TOPS-10-tan's personality is best described as honest and loyal. Like many of her DEC peers, she is a highly sociable person, and is rarely without the company of friends and family. She is fond of multiplayer games and is an avid amateur radio operator. She is also a skilled tactician, a trait that made her the undisputed choice as leader of the DEC OS-tans.

Family and relationships

TOPS-10-tan is related to WAITS-tan, though their exact relationship is remains unclear (perhaps because of the often hard-to-define nature of OS-tan familial relationships). Tenex-tan and TOPS-10-tan aren't related by blood, but they quickly adopted each other as sisters when Tenex joined the DEC faction.
