Bell Labs created Plan 9 (or more correctly: Plan 9 from Bell Labs) to be a successor of Unix and to take the Unix idea of simplicity even further. Everything can be accessed as files: network connections and ressources, processes, devices, files. The name of the OS is a reference to the movie Plan 9 from outer space.

Plan9-tan is an astronaut, with bunny-ears and white hair (both references to the mascot Glenda). She is shown with a file and a bell. She can be descirbed as alien to the other OS-tans, or just plainly weird. She likes well-planned elegant solutions. The other OS-tans say she has no sense for aesthetics.
