Technical Details

Windows XP Home was released along side Windows XP Professional, and was aimed at home users specifically. As a result, Home lacks some of the features that Professional had, but still featured a host of new features such as an updated GUI, improved USB support, Driver Rollback, Remote Desktop, Faster Startup, Logon/Logoff and Hibernate Modes, improved system reliability, more games and accessories, and more. Service Packs were released for XP 3 times, starting on 9th September, 2002. These mainly put an emphasis on extra security, but also included other features, such as complete support for USB 2.0. With the Service Packs, however, came the need for greater hardware space, most notably an increase in RAM size. Despite this, XP proved to be so popular that support for it was extended to 2014.

Character Details

Homeo is a small boy of about 12 or 13. He has long green hair, bound into a ponytail like his sister, and green eyes with glasses (also like his sister). He wears a key-shaped hairclip on one or both sides of his head. He is usually seen in shorts and a coat with long, long sleeves, but due to his penchant for cosplay, he isn't always shown this way. Homeo loves to cosplay, specifically as female characters. Given his stature and hair length, he pulls off an extremely convincing trap, to the point where some people don't know he's a boy.[1] [2] This is likely influenced by his sister's excitement at his dressing up this way (though she has different ideas as to why), and his desire to become a woman. However, he only wants this so he can have a relationship with his sister; It is evident that the gender is not the issue here, just that they are two different genders.[3] Part of his making a convincing trap is his personality; Homeo is a very sensitive young man, often doing things that make him uncomfortable just to make his sister or some of the other os-tans happy.[4] Though Homeko seems to enjoy his cosplaying, it seems that there are some things about it that can make her upset, too.[5]

Homeo seems to have a romantic interest in his sister. Even without it, he often looks after his sister as she is often too preoccupied to do it herself (see examples here[6], here[7], and here[8]). Through this, he seems to have developed an attraction to her[9], though she seems unaware of this fact (or, due to her profession as a yaoi doujinshi artist, thinks of his attraction and feminine nature as uke (yaoi bottom) traits). Homeo also seems to have some sort of attraction to 98-tan, who has a crush on him. The degree to which the feelings are reciprocated vary from picture to picture, though they seem to have a sort of young love blossoming[10] (though 98 is prone to tormenting Homeo, as she is the dominant one in the budding relationship[11]). This mutual crush isn't without protesters, however, such as Secchan, who not only doesn't want to see her sister in that kind of relationship, but also has a crush on Homeo. Her obsession with can openering dicks, however, doesn't do much to foster anything mutual.[12]

Homeo often helps his sister Homeko out with her Doujinshi activities as well, from posing for[13] and helping inspire[14] her comics, to inking the art and manning the booth at cons.[15] Though he is uncomfortable with some of the work, he does it to help his sister, though whether or not this is really good for him is subject to speculation.[16]

As his sister is often busy making her comics, Homeo commonly does the shopping. Because of this, he often runs into the Nijiura Maids while he's out, with mixed results.[17][18]

Homeo often hangs out with his brother ME-kun. What they do together varies from image to image (examples here[19], here[20], and here[21]), but they typically have fun together, perhaps due to their similarities in age.

Homeo is also commonly seen with his brother XP Pro-kun, though in a different context than ME-kun, as it's less like the hardy boys and more like a typical older-younger brother arrangement, with Homeo typically playing the meek card in their interactions. XP Pro-kun, however, doesn't abuse this fact, and is usually very nice and semi-protective of Homeo.[22] This might be because XP Pro-kun can relate to Homeo's struggles with Homeko; XP Pro-kun has his own issues with Saseko-tan.[23]

With the rest of his family, Homeo typically has a nice (if misunderstood) relationship. 2k-tan, for example, looks out for him somewhat when things get a bit chaotic.[24] However, the errands that are typical to Homeo worry her to the point of insanity[25], and while she cannot confront either Homeo or Homeko about it, she does make a point to interfere (in the name of being a good sister, of course).[26] Homeo usually can't or won't speak up when something is bothering him, meaning that he can be the victim of some of the rest of the family's pranks/deviancy.[27] Overall, though, Homeo just tries to keep the peace while being helpful.[28]

Homeo's other friends include the Nijiura and Futaba Characters Shitsuji-kun, Yukiko-san, and occasionally her sister Kiri-san. Shitsuji is one of his closest friends and confidantes, as the two are in similar situations in terms of love and shyness. Their proximity to age helps with the friendship also, and as a result they are commonly seen hanging out together.[29] Homeo has also made friends with Yukiko-san, who is under the impression that he is a girl. Homeo realizes that if he's found out, the consequences will be dire, but has yet to find a way out of it. It doesn't help that Yukiko is so keen on having a friend her age.[30] Yukiko's overprotective older sister Kiri, meanwhile, is either also oblivious to Homeo's true gender or is purposely ignoring it to spare her sister's feelings (or to protect her from something "shocking"). Kiri doesn't get along well with Homeko, but seems to think Homeo is darling, just like her sister.[31]
