DESCRIPTION
95 OSR 2.5-tan, also known as 2.5-tan, is an original character created for a Japanese 4koma that resembles the original Windows 95-tan but with shorter hair and wearing more Westernized clothing. She personifies OSR 2.5, the last patched version of Windows 95. She also has a more extroverted personality than 95-tan. She appeared out of the shadow of the OSes to challenge the 98 series and seems to regard 98-tan especially as a rival, but no matter what she does to 98, the other OS regards her as a well-meaning friend. She is sometimes seen wearing a black skirt, black gloves, and a white sleeveless shirt like 98, but with a red tie and black 95 style bow.
OSC NOTES
Though OSR 2.5-tan was likely meant as a one-shot character in the aforementioned 4koma panels, she has achieved a mild level of popularity in the OS-tan Collections forum. Not only has she been depicted or included in various drawings by different OSC artists, but she has also been assigned a weapon in line with the warrior lineage of 95-tan. The weapon is a Jutte, or a sword-breaking device previously used by law enforcement officers in Japan's Edo Period. This was done to reference (and historically parallel) Microsoft Window's own transition from a warring period (mid-90's, when it's future was not yet secured) to its era of dominance and prosperity in the desktop market beginning with Windows 98.
A Windows 95 OSR 2.1-tan, only briefly mentioned in passing in the aforementioned 4Koma panels, has also been created by OSC artist Aurora as part of the effort to grow OSR 2.5-tan beyond the level of a one-shot character.
