Macintosh System 1

  • Quick Facts:
    • - Is feisty, bold, charismatic straightforward and wants to be a leader, but is childish and has a one-track mind.
    • - Is scatterbrained and speaks primarily in newspeak (despite the irony of being an aggressive non-conformist in her youth) because it's easier for her.
    • - Is stronger than she looks and wields a hammer as her weapon of choice.
    • - Still regards herself as a vigilante fighting against tyranny, even though her glory days are long behind her.
    • - Had a rough upbringing before her public debut in 1984, having been forced by Lisa to be her servant.
    • - Was happy to become independent and speak out against Lisa, but now feels sorry for her.
    • - Means well and strives to be a mother figure to all the Mac-tans, though nearly all of them treat her as a little sister figure who needs to be cared for.
    • - Considered GEM a rival and major threat back in '85 and took action against her, but has long since regretted it.
    • - Has reconciled with GEM recently and the two became friends, but still has long-standing rivalries with PCDOS and Sinclair QL. Is also friends with QDOS and PDP-1.

Macintosh System 2

  • Hair: Black
  • Quick Facts:
    • - Looks much like System 1-tan, but has two side ponytails, wears a sash, and a sleeveless dress.
    • - Is observant, witty, and intelligent but desperate for attention and gets forgotten a lot.
    • - Even worse is that unlike the rest of her family, she isn't a good fighter at all.
    • - Appears calm at a first glance.
    • - Likes to give long lectures, read classic literature and discuss philosophy.
    • - Carries around a duck puppet to assist in her lectures to make them more entertaining, with varying amounts of success.
    • - Despite being highly intelligent, she is misunderstood, with few believing what she says.
    • - Cares for her family, but really hates that she cannot be taken seriously, and gets aggressive when ignored. Swears she will get the last laugh some day.
    • - Gets along best with Apple II, Mac OS1, OSX Panther, and OSX Leopard.

Macintosh System 3

  • Hair: Black w/ multicolor streaks
  • Quick Facts:
    • -Has a bubbly and cheerful disposition.
    • - Loves to wear old-fashioned clothing dyed with unnaturally-vibrant colors.
    • - Gets along with all her sisters, but shares the best chemistry with Mac OS4, Mac OS8, OS9, and OSX Tiger.
    • - Is very cheerful, friendly and outgoing, and has great social skills.
    • - Is the least stable Mac-tan, has a huge fear of bugs and is klutzy.
    • - More efficient and better-organized than her predecessors but still cannot multitask.
    • - A competent fighter with improvised weapons, but only able to show her skills when provoked enough, which doesn't happen easily.
    • - Loves shopping and tinkering with old gadgets, though back in her youth, she introduced new technologies to the Apple Family.
    • - Very fond of OS9-kun, sometimes over-protective. Because of this, she has a rivalry with Windows ME.
    • - Can empathize with ME very well when they aren't feuding over OS9-kun.

Macintosh System 4

  • Hair: Black
  • Quick Facts:
    • - Has a cheerful and carefree disposition, but also hides an inferiority complex and is known to be fussy at times. (First Mac OS to exclude a Mac model)
    • - Her inferiority complex stems from several things-she can't multitask as well as her younger sisters, introduced only one remarkable feature (MultiFinder in System 4.2), also because of her obscurity, and she felt she failed as a parent.
    • - Is the adoptive mother of Mac System 5, 6 and 7.
    • - Was bitter and depressed in the late 80's, after her own quick obsolescence, Mac System 5's death, Mac System 6's insanity and near-death.
    • - When Mac System 7 turned out to be happy and healthy, her worries waned.
    • - Is stronger than she looks, and has a surprisingly huge appetite. (4.0 excluded the original Mac 128k, 4.1 excluded the 512k)
    • - Used to clash a lot with Mac System 1 over leadership, especially who would be the matriarch, and criticizing Mac System 4 for being a glutton. But now they get along very well.
    • - Decorates her hair with 4 pigtails and 4 cowlicks.
    • - Dons a green shirt with a red skirt, white boots and a grey denim jacket.

Macintosh System 5

  • aka: "Phantom of the Macintosh"

  • Height: 163 cm (5'4")

  • Eye Color: Pink (right), silver (left)
  • Hair: Purple
  • note: This character represents both System Software 5 (System 4.2+Finder 6.0) and System 5.0, mainly the latter which doesn't exist.
  • Quick Facts:
    • - Died very young of illness, but lives on as a ghost who hangs out with either the Mac House or the Binteeji Renmei.
    • - Like her older relatives, she is semi-retired.
    • - Is invisible to many individuals outside of the Mac circle, but her voice can be heard.
    • - Is quiet, cheerful and friendly.
    • - A talented magician, fortune-teller, organ-player and trickster.
    • - Wears a vaguely Victorian-style purple and white dress, black gloves, cloak, and white boots. Sometimes also wears a "Phantom Of The Opera" style mask.
    • - Wields a magician wand which she uses for magic tricks and multitasking. (her wand represents Multifinder, which was an add-on in System Software 5/System 4.2)
    • - Closest friends are Mac System 4 and 6, and is said to have met the ghost of Apple I.

Macintosh System 6

  • aka: Mac System 6.0.x, "Antares", "Big Deal", "Six Pack", "Terminator"
  • Debut: 4/30/1988

  • Eye Color: Silver (right), red (left)
  • Hair: Dark grey-blue
  • Quick Facts:
    • -Was sickly and unstable at birth, had been known to lash out violently if her strength allowed it.
    • -Was soon deathly ill, but her life was saved in late '88-early '89 when she was remade into a nearly immortal cyborg using technology from the future.
    • -Scatterbrained, yet is fast, extremely strong, determined and remarkably stable. (Went from being the least stable Mac OS to one of the most stable.)
    • -Close friends with her stepsister A/UX, who helped her the most with self-improvement in her youth. The two even have a friendly rivalry together.
    • -Was one of the first Mac-tans to befriend NeXTSTEP, is also one of the few to not be scared by OSX Cheetah's antics.
    • -Has at least one scar at all times, to this day she fights against Mac malware-tans, including her sworn enemy ANTI since 1989.
    • -Strives to atone for her acts of unjustifiable violence from her pre-transformation and during the OS Wars, including her one-sided rivalry against Windows 2.0
    • -Is very kind and loyal, though this often gets overshadowed by a boisterous and competitive side.
    • -A writer and programmer, still an avid user of Hypercard technology. (considered one of the best Mac OSes for creative writing, and Hypercard was popularized in the System 6-era)
    • -Teams up with OSX, Cheetah and Mac OS8 to fight against perversion in the Mac House.
    • -Has medium-length grey-blue hair, wears a blue+black minidress with matching boots, gloves, a leather jacket and sunglasses.
    • -Wields a bazooka as her weapon of choice.
    • -Mac System 3.4 is allegedly her twin sister. (both use the same Finder version, Finder 6.1)

Mac OS8

  • Name: Mac OS 8-tan
  • aka: Mac OS 7.7 (former), "Tempo", "Veronica"
  • Debut: 7/26/1997
  • Height: 148 cm (4'10")
  • Weight: ??kg
  • Eye Color: Teal
  • Hair: Blonde
  • Quick Facts:
    • - Has always had a happy and optimistic disposition, but has also grown up to become a bold and foolhardy fighter.
    • - Volunteered to fight in the thick of the PC-Mac OS war at a very young age; though it nearly cost her her life, she was pivotal in turning the fortunes of Apple around.
    • - Formerly known as Mac OS 7.7-tan, her name change was to exploit a loophole to discontinue the Mac Clones, which she was ordered to fight against.
    • - Also managed to save NeXTSTEP-tan's life at one point, who in return became a loyal friend of the Mac-tans and "godparent" to the OSX-tans.
    • - Keeps her short, topped with a rainbow Apple beret similar to her old Apple swimcap, and a bondi blue bandana.
    • - Dons a grey shirt with an "8"-shaped necklace, bondi blue shoes, and choice of either a rainbow Apple or bomb-themed skirt.
    • - Is still fairly scratched up from the war, and still keeps her left leg wrapped in bandages out of a warped sense of fashion.
    • - Is a proficient bomb-wielder, and often accompanies Mac-tan on the daily "sorties" against perverts.
    • - Considers it a pet peeve that her sisters seem to relish showing visitors her baby pictures.

Mac OS9

  • aka: "Sonata", Mac OS 8.7 (former)
  • Debut: 10/23/1999
  • Height: 160 cm (5'3")
  • Weight: ??kg
  • Eye Color: Blue
  • Hair: Blonde
  • Quick Facts:
    • -Holds title as the most commonly-known and revered Mac OS-tan.
    • -Has sweet, well-mannered and classy disposition, but is occasionally prone to fits of violence and perversion.
    • -Dons a white dress with a Mac face logo motif on the skirt, and white "dockbar" sleeves and boots.
    • -Keeps hair short, decorated by giant "9' hairclips and a long cowlick streaked across her face.
    • -Loves to paint and judge artwork in general, but also has a less-than-subtle appreciation for nude modeling.
    • -Is virtually worshipped by the OSX-kuns.
    • -Is relatively civil with the Windows-tans compared to the average Mac-tan, and has been seen hanging around the most with ME-tan and XP-tan.
    • -Is somehow the universal "big sister" to the OSX-tans and even to some of the older classic Mac-tans.
    • -Enjoys Mac-tan's company the most, since they've been together the longest.
    • -Enjoys OS9.2-tan's company the least for some reason.

Mac OSX Server

  • aka: "Rhapsody"
  • Debut: circa 1999

  • Eye Color: Blue
  • Hair: Blonde
  • Quick Facts:
    • -Is friendly, motherly and cheerful, but is a shut-in. (not released to the public)
    • -Does not like to go outside or be seen in public if it can be helped. However, she has made some progress in recent years. (has some hobbyist following)
    • -Mother of Darwin OS and the OSX-tans, is NeXTSTEP's biological sister, and cousin of A/UX. Was adopted into the Mac culture by the Classic Mac-tans.
    • -Her daughters and the Classic-tans, though not related by code consider each other sisters just the same.
    • -Serves food and homemade apple cider to guests.
    • -Is diplomatic, and is the official Mac House ambassador.
    • -Friends with Solaris, Windows NT and 95 OSR 2.5.
    • -Drives a yellow boxcar. (referencing the Yellow Box foundation)
    • -Wears a white dress with black stripes, a blue+yellow skirt layer on top, along with white gloves and leggings.
    • -Has shoulder-length blonde hair in a flip-do, secured with a red Apple logo pin with a white X (as in OSX) on it.

Mac OSX Cheetah

  • Name: Mac OSX 10.0-tan
  • aka: "Cheetah-tan"
  • Debut: 3/24/2001
  • Height: 180 cm (5'11")
  • Weight: ??kg
  • Eye Color: Red
  • Hair: Lilac
  • Quick Facts:
    • -Is something of a dominatrix.
    • -Wears futuristic-styled black minidresses with long gloves, an eye patch and fishnet stockings.
    • -Is mischievous and playful, but at times her ideas of playfulness border on the sadistic.
    • -Has the largest breasts of the OSX-tans (OSX Cheetah's requirements were relatively high, twice that of OS9's)
    • -Lacks self-confidence, is clumsy, and is the least stable of the OSX-tans. Three weaknesses she wants to hide at all costs.
    • -Gains confidence when treated with affection.
    • -Likes to model for Mac OS9-tan.
    • -Considered very scary by most of the Mac-tans, and is feared the most by the OSX-kuns because she's at least as perverted as they are.
    • -Strangely enough, teams up with System 6, Mac OS8 and OSX to fight perversion in the Mac House.

Mac OSX Puma

  • aka: "Puma-tan"
  • Debut: 9/25/2001
  • Height: 145 cm (4'9")

  • Eye Color: Light green
  • Hair: Blue
  • Quick Facts:
    • -Is shy, mousy and insecure.
    • -Second shortest of the OSX-tans, as Puma was a rather small update from Cheetah.
    • -Talks very little and spends most of her time attending the house.
    • -More stable than Cheetah, but still lacks self-confidence.
    • -Frequently picked on by OSX and Cheetah into being the maid of the house.
    • -Complies often due to being non-confrontational.
    • -Wears a sleeveless, white-collared black dress with a green bow and blue "X"s.
    • -Closest friends with fellow introverts Mac System 4-tan and 7-tan, but gets along well with all of her family.
    • -Is trustworthy, and her sisters are known to confide in her, and the more willing, in turn want to help her out.

Mac OSX Jaguar

  • Hair: Red
  • Quick Facts:
    • -The first of the OSX-tans to have a good amount of self-confidence.
    • -Purposefully cheeky and outgoing, likes to joke around.
    • -Energetic, but not quite to the extent of her hot-blooded, even more spirited younger sister OSX Tiger.
    • -Wears a futuristic grey and mauve dress with black boots and a collar.
    • -Along with OSX Cheetah, she likes to pose for Mac OS9's art.
    • -Also is interested in fashion, preferring more modern and futuristic styles.
    • -In the in-house conflicts (fights for/against perversion, power struggles between Mac and OSX Tiger over leadership), she prefers to stay neutral but will poke fun at all sides from the sidelines.
