Technical Details
Windows 1.0-tan (1.0たん) was one of the least common Windows personifications. She personifies Windows 1.0, which was Microsoft's first attempt to implement a multi-tasking graphical user interface-based operating environment on the PC platform. The OS itself was a graphical shell added on top of MS-DOS, based off of XEROX PARC and Apple's early graphical user interfaces, such as Lisa.
Character Details
For the first few years of the OS-tan fandom, there were considerably few renditions of Windows OSes prior to version 3.1 despite the Windows-tans' popularity. One possible reason for this omission can be traced to the perception of Windows 3.1 as marking the beginning of Microsoft Windows' rise to dominance (hence, the origin of the Windows family), and thus delegating versions 1.0 and 2.0 as simply younger facets of the more memorable version 3.1.
The two known 1.0-tan designs to exist share fairly similar appearance traits that they were for a long time recognized by OSC fanon as a single character rendition. Now realizing the significantly different characterization between the OSC character and Futaba character
There are two known Windows 1.0-tan designs, one created by Futaba, another by OSC. They were developed independently, but share similar appearance traits that they were for a long time recognized by OSC fanon as a single character rendition. Now realizing the significantly different characterization between the OSC character and Futaba character, separate articles were made for each character, and which one exists depends on the continuity.
