[[wikipedia:OpenVMS|OpenVMS]] (VMS) is a server, mainframe and minicomputer OS that runs on the VAX, Alpha, Itanium, and amd64 architectures. Originally released by DEC in 1977, VMS is notable for security, stability, clustering/networking and fault-tolerance features, and maintains a dedicated niche in commercial and hobbyist communities.

OpenVMS-tan is depicted as a mature, athletically-built, light skinned woman with lilac-colored eyes. She wears a high collared dark blouse with blue vest, sometimes exposing her midriff, a black leather trenchcoat with silver fittings, black cargo pants, fingerless gloves and knee-high boots. VMS-tan is stoic, quiet and serious.<ref>"Unlike traditional OS-tans, VMS-san would be something of the serious silent-type, with a mature beauty that fits her age and razor-sharp leadership skills that speak of decades of experience."</ref> She wasn't formally educated, instead relying on street-smarts and common sense. Though she is generally level-headed and pragmatic, she has a rather paranoid approach to self-defense.

She is outwardly expressionless, an impression bolstered by her face being partially covered. Combined with her weapons and attire, she is considered intimidating by others, a reputation that she gladly cultivates. Her cool exterior hides a strong sense of justice and duty to keep others safe. She's never effusive with affection, but warms up around friends.

She loves the ocean, swimming and diving especially. Befitting an OS-tan of her might, VMS-tan has been depicted with power over water. However, she eschews sorcery for the most part, instead favoring physical weaponry. As with many of her DEC-tan peers, she is a trained swordsman, especially favoring sabers in her earlier years.

====Family and Relationships====
VMS-tan had a fraught relationship with her DEC peers. She was closest with her mother [[RSX | RSX-tan]], VAX, as well as [[RSTS | RSTS-tan]] and the eternally-affectionate [[PDP-1 | PDP-1-tan]]. She has a younger sister, [[VAXELN | VAXELN-tan]], but they are separated by social circles and distance.

While antagonistic toward the Unices, she and [[UNIX | UNIX-tan]] view one another as worthy enemies. She and [[Ultrix]]-tan started off as enemies, but found common ground as outcasts within their faction.

As leader of the CIOST, VMS-tan guides a large and varied following of OS-tans. She gets along best with [[VME]], [[Primos]] and [[Stratus_VOS | VOS]]-tan, although they are more akin to comrades-in-arms than friends in the traditional sense of the word. Her old rival [[TOPS-20 | TOPS-20-tan]] is also part of the faction.

VMS-tan has a few close friends. She and VAX-tan have a strong bond, despite drifting apart in recent years. [[eCOS | eCOS-tan]] is her companion and self-proclaimed bodyguard. She was adopted by two children/followers, [[FreeVMS | FreeVMS-chan]] and OZONE-tan, although she is clueless about raising kids and leaves the majority of the work to RED-kun, her loyal text editor.

===Early life and rise to power===
OpenVMS-tan debuted 1977, under the name VMS. Born to RSX-11 during the golden era of the DEC society, she was a reserved and responsible with a dry sense of humour – and a habit of snarking. Trained extensively in swordfighting (by her mother) and the art of geomancy (by [[Multics | Multics]]), she was inducted into the DEC military that year as a colonel. By 1988, she was a major general.

Her meteoric rise through the ranks ruffled the feathers of several of her coworkers and endangered the livelihoods of a few others, notably [[TOPS-20 | Tenex]]; outside of DEC, her popularity led to [[ITS | ITS]]'s eventual deposal from MIT. While she viewed these “betrayals” as strictly a matter of business and something not in her own control, her rivals weren't as understanding; although recently she has made good with her old coworkers.

During the early 1980s VMS and unix became locked in fierce rivalry, one that continues to this day through [[BSD | BSD]] and her children. Unlike many rivals, VMS and Unix don't hate each other; their relationship is marked by good-natured, if not somewhat antagonistic, jousting.

===Witnessing DEC's decline===
Her name was changed to OpenVMS is 1992, but she continued to use her old moniker out of convenience. The first major trauma in her life occurred in 1993 when [[NT-tan | Windows NT]] was born and VMS subsequently discovered that she was, in part, a genetic copy of herself. The cloning was purported by VMS' creator who, after leaving DEC, was hired by the rising Microsoft empire to create their next generation of OS-tan – one capable of seizing the then-elusive server and minicomputer market. Taking advantage of the disarray of the Unix and OS Wars, NT was able to conquer already divided nations and secure the Windows empire in the professional market.

One of NT's targets was the already-weakened DEC empire; she faced off against VMS in a duel, completely unaware that her opponent was her mother. VMS, holding back for fear of injuring her daughter, was defeated; this experience made her rethink her life and pushed her toward her current-day mentality.

===Post-DEC years===
In 1998 the tattered DEC society was conquered by HP, and its -tans scattered to all corners of the earth. VMS, too powerful to be let go of, was kept on; she was one of only two ex-DEC officers not deposed of. Their stepsister is [[HP-UX]], whom VMS doesn't get along with.

Feeling no allegiance to her new company, VMS set to wandering the world, gathering disparate OS-tans of all cultures and races together to fight the mainstream powers. This was the beginning of the [[CIOST | Confederation of independent OS-tans]], an underground group of technologically-advanced, but largely unknown OS-tans.

VMS's mother is RSX, has one sister, VAXELN, and two adopted children – OZONE and FreeVMS. She occasionally meets with her old DEC comrades, but lives on her own for the most part.

==Theories and notes==
====General====
VMS-tan's asexuality (and likely, aromanticism) has been more or less confirmed, in various comics, proposed storylines as well as two character interviews. While most of VMS' coworkers and friends know of - and accept - her orientation, her text editor assistant [[RED]]-kun tried for many years to win her affection, to no avail.

It has been speculated that VMS-tan was the most psychologically-affected of all the DEC-tans by the breakup of her company. In fear of becoming without a house or homeland once again, she took up residence on her ship - an old military vessel named DECADE - knowing that nobody would ever be able to put her out of her home again if she made a life on the sea.

===General===
XP-tan is a dark-haired girl with ribbons in her hair and an XP hair ornament worn on the left side (infrequently, she is depicted with ornaments on both sides). As Windows XP was originally criticized for bloating a system and being very pretty without being equally as useful, XP-tan wears tight clothing and has large breasts. An early alternate outfit was especially skimpy, wearing a blue miniskirt, high-heeled shoes, and a midriff-bearing tube top with "XP" on the front. She usually dresses in a blue-and-white stylized schoolgirl outfit with ribbons and detached sleeves for decoration.

Also, [[Breast Size, Hunger, and Memory|as Windows XP used up large amounts of memory for its time]], XP-tan is often seen eating or holding an empty bowl labeled "Memory".

Around 2014 there was a surge of art of XP-tan in observation of [[Windows XP]]'s extended support being ended by Microsoft on April 8th, 2014. Despite this Windows XP still occasionally received security patches, with the last one being in May 2019.

====Early Characterization====
When the OS-tan phenomenon was in its early stages, XP was at the time the current Windows OS, and was heavily criticized. XP-tan's personality is often portrayed as shallow and promiscuous; the latter may reference not just the eye candy interface, but also the large number of security exploits XP had early in its lifetime. There is a strip where 2K-tan derides XP-tan and calls her an "Activation Whore" since XP required activation over the phone or internet to set up; this was a change in Windows that was widely criticized at the time. She generally fills the role in the manga as the typical eye candy character, but alternate interpretations may be starting to change this.

====Shift in Characterization====
The portrayal of XP-tan as a shallow piece of bloated eye candy seems to have changed ever since the debut of [[:Category:Windows Vista|Windows Vista]], its much higher hardware requirements and even fancier interface. In hindsight, XP had very high requirements for its time, but nowadays is able to run well on low-end computers, and XP's Luna GUI is simple-looking compared to Vista's and 7's Aero. While XP-tan may still be portrayed as dense and a big eater, she's now more likely to be seen as more reliable, dependable and practical than she ever was before.

==Depictions==
===Deja Vu Works===
In Deja Vu's doujins, she is seen as a somewhat dense but undeniably beautiful and envied character, easily compared to Mikuru Asahina from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu. She has had the most hentai scenes out of any of the OSes, much due to her large breasts, often drawn comically huge. However, her characteristically large breasts are envied by most other characters.

===Homeo Saga===
She is somewhat involved in the Homeo saga, playing a minor role as a foil to [[Homeko]].

===Expanded Universe===
In the expanded universe, she is one of the most diplomatic Windows-tans, and has worked side-by-side with Mac OSX Tiger-tan and Leopard-tan in bootcamp. She is more open-minded than most of the older Windows-tans, and wants to ensure harmony between the Windows and Mac families.

Her main outfit is a grey and white, stylized space suits. She has also been portrayed in formal dress, wearing a low-cut gown modeled after Vampira's of Plan 9 from Outer Space.

She retains some resemblance to her mother, but did not always have white hair. In her youth, she used to have medium-length black, or dark-grey hair, and wore business-like clothing. She originally modeled herself after UNIX, wanting to be just like her but more in order to show herself as a worthy heir. After defecting, and after the Unix Wars, she changed to her current appearance.

She has the charisma and organizational skills needed to unite her relatives who defected from the Unix Wars, and organize the User Space Gang. Outside the User Space Gang though, other OS-tans describe her as 'alien', or 'just plain weird'. She is outgoing, but socially awkward; her eccentricities reinforced by her comrades being eccentrics themselves. She has several geeky interests, and is fond of old B-movies.

She is one of UNIX's daughters, created to be "more UNIX than UNIX", so she was born to be the heir to the dynasty.

Her attitude towards UNIX in the present day is ambivalent. She doesn't want to fight her, and deep down she wants to see UNIX as her mother again, and not an enemy. She still condemns her mother's actions in the Unix Wars, but is upset at the thought of hating her instead of just her actions, or what she became at that point. She still leads the User Space Gang, in part because it's fun for her, and her friends, but also in protest of UNIX's (and the main branch's) hardlined stuffy attitudes, and commercialism.

====Inferno====
She is very protective of Inferno-tan, her daughter who she nominated as the heiress to her own faction. Plan 9-tan would like to expand into the User Space Dynasty, but feels bad about indoctrinating Inferno into hating UNIX.

====Plan B and Octopus====
Plan B-tan is Plan 9's first clone, who she created to help her manage the User Space Gang. She is sort of a second-in-command, whose main duty is to write down everything Plan 9-tan says, and use the written notes to teach Inferno-tan. She and Octopus are technically Plan 9-tan's younger sisters, though Plan 9-tan sees her as more of a sister figure, and Octopus as more of a daughter (or grand-daughter?) figure.

====Multics====
It's unknown if Plan 9 actually met Multics, and she doesn't know that Multics is her grandmother. A lot of people think it was her who brought Multics from the dead. However, it couldn't have been her since Multics is completely alive, and has her free will intact.

====Linux====

==History and Background==
Plan 9-tan was born in the mid 1980's, and is UNIX's most direct descendant. She originally wasn't the heir of the Unix Dynasty, and wasn't intended to be; her creation was experimental. When the Unix Wars erupted in the late 1980's, and with Solaris-tan (then the heir-apparent) playing a pivotal role in sparking the War, UNIX appointed Plan 9-tan. Most of the Unices considered her an unsuitable heir, and was not taken seriously by them.

At first, she was overjoyed to become UNIX's heir, wanted to be just like her, and eager to take up her responsibilities at first. As the Wars went on, she disagreed more and more with UNIX's actions. For a while, she complied, but what finally set her off was when she reported [[Xenix|Xenix's]] death in the war to UNIX, and was appalled by UNIX's apparent indifference. Plan 9-tan refused to accept UNIX's social darwinist attitude towards her own family.

She no longer wanted to be UNIX's heir if it meant going against her own ideals, conforming to the things she hates, and having to harm her family further. Plan 9-tan left. While on her own as a drifter, she met [[Linux|Linux-tan]], also a drifter, and they became friends. They parted ways, with Linux-tan negotiating with the Unix Family, and Plan 9-tan recruiting the other Unix-tans who defected from the Unix Wars. Circa 1993 or 1994, she initially recruited [[FreeBSD | FreeBSD-tan]], [[OpenBSD | OpenBSD-tan]] and [[NetBSD | NetBSD-tan]], and they created the User Space Gang.

She now also has a daughter ([[Inferno | Inferno-tan]]), a clone ([[Plan B | Plan B-tan]]) and a granddaughter/clone ([[Octopus | Octopus-tan]]).

==Theories and notes==
Plan 9-tan's faction name, her faction living in a spaceship, and her necromancy are references to Plan 9 from Outer Space. Another theory is that she is a fan of Touhou, referencing some people nominating Cirno (who has the nickname of 'Nine-ball' by the Touhou fandom) as an alternate Plan 9 mascot.

Her attitude towards UNIX in the present day is ambivalent. She doesn't want to fight her, and deep down she wants to see UNIX as her mother again, and not an enemy. She still condemns her mother's actions in the Unix Wars, but is upset at the thought of hating her instead of just her actions, or what she became at that point. She still leads the User Space Gang, in part because it's fun for her, and her friends, but also in protest of UNIX's (and the main branch's) hardlined stuffy attitudes, and commercialism.

====Inferno====
She is very protective of Inferno-tan, her daughter who she nominated as the heiress to her own faction. Plan 9-tan would like to expand into the User Space Dynasty, but feels bad about indoctrinating Inferno into hating UNIX.

====Plan B and Octopus====
Plan B-tan is Plan 9's first clone, who she created to help her manage the User Space Gang. She is sort of a second-in-command, whose main duty is to write down everything Plan 9-tan says, and use the written notes to teach Inferno-tan. She and Octopus are technically Plan 9-tan's younger sisters, though Plan 9-tan sees her as more of a sister figure, and Octopus as more of a daughter (or grand-daughter?) figure.

====Multics====
It's unknown if Plan 9 actually met Multics, and she doesn't know that Multics is her grandmother. A lot of people think it was her who brought Multics from the dead. However, it couldn't have been her since Multics is completely alive, and has her free will intact.

====Linux====

Plan 9-tan was born in the mid 1980's, and is UNIX's most direct descendant. She originally wasn't the heir of the Unix Dynasty, and wasn't intended to be; her creation was experimental. When the Unix Wars erupted in the late 1980's, and with Solaris-tan (then the heir-apparent) playing a pivotal role in sparking the War, UNIX appointed Plan 9-tan. Most of the Unices considered her an unsuitable heir, and was not taken seriously by them.

At first, she was overjoyed to become UNIX's heir, wanted to be just like her, and eager to take up her responsibilities at first. As the Wars went on, she disagreed more and more with UNIX's actions. For a while, she complied, but what finally set her off was when she reported [[Xenix|Xenix's]] death in the war to UNIX, and was appalled by UNIX's apparent indifference. Plan 9-tan refused to accept UNIX's social darwinist attitude towards her own family.

She no longer wanted to be UNIX's heir if it meant going against her own ideals, conforming to the things she hates, and having to harm her family further. Plan 9-tan left. While on her own as a drifter, she met [[Linux|Linux-tan]], also a drifter, and they became friends. They parted ways, with Linux-tan negotiating with the Unix Family, and Plan 9-tan recruiting the other Unix-tans who defected from the Unix Wars. Circa 1993 or 1994, she initially recruited [[FreeBSD | FreeBSD-tan]], [[OpenBSD | OpenBSD-tan]] and [[NetBSD | NetBSD-tan]], and they created the User Space Gang.

She now also has a daughter ([[Inferno | Inferno-tan]]), a clone ([[Plan B | Plan B-tan]]) and a granddaughter/clone ([[Octopus | Octopus-tan]]).

Plan 9-tan's faction name, her faction living in a spaceship, and her necromancy are references to Plan 9 from Outer Space. Another theory is that she is a fan of Touhou, referencing some people nominating Cirno (who has the nickname of 'Nine-ball' by the Touhou fandom) as an alternate Plan 9 mascot.

Developed by the MIT Computation Center and initially released in 1961, the [[wikipedia: Compatible_Time-Sharing_System| Compatible Timesharing System]] was the first general purpose timesharing OS.

While it was only in use for twelve years across two installations (both on the MIT campus) CTSS heavily influenced the design of other early timesharing OSes. It debuted a number of modern operating system features, and multiple notable programs.

CTSS became usable under emulation as of 2010.

CTSS-tan vowed to learn from both from Whirlwind-tan's successes and mistakes,<ref>CTSS programmers got their start on Whirlwind, saw the need for a way to handle multiple users & jobs.</ref> surpassing the limitations that she faced as an early hardware-tan while inheriting her restless curiosity, optimism and hard work ethic.

CTSS-tan found employment as a librarian, translator and typesetter, working both at home and overseas. While accompanied by the typical coterie of an mainframe-tan of her time, she worked most closely with [[Selectric | Selectric-kun]]. CTSS-tan regarded [[UNIX | Unix-tan]] highly despite Multics-tan's fraught relationship with her, and disapproved of the fighting between the two, though she was powerless to stop it.

Though she was in seemingly good health until the end of her life, she passed away suddenly in the early 1970s.

Bell Labs created Plan 9 to be a successor of Unix and to take the Unix idea of simplicity even further. Everything can be accessed as files: network connections and resources, processes, devices, files. The name of the OS is named after the movie Plan 9 from Outer Space.

Plan 9-tan is fairly short like many of the Unices. She is only slightly taller than UNIX, being her direct descendant. She has pale skin, pale eyes and white hair, with white rabbit ears. Her rabbit ears and white hair are references to Plan 9's mascot, Glenda. She wears horn-rimmed or square glasses, and has her hair is short, usually styled as a chin-length bob cut with short bangs.

Her main outfit is a grey and white, stylized space suits. She has also been portrayed in formal dress, wearing a low-cut gown modeled after Vampira's of Plan 9 from Outer Space.

She retains some resemblance to her mother, but did not always have white hair. In her youth, she used to have medium-length black, or dark-grey hair, and wore business-like clothing. She originally modeled herself after UNIX, wanting to be just like her but more in order to show herself as a worthy heir. After defecting, and after the Unix Wars, she changed to her current appearance.

===Personality===
Plan 9-tan is eccentric and weirds out nearly every OS-tan she meets at first. She is strong-willed and likes well-planned, elegant solutions, but not necessarily elegant aesthetics. To most other OS-tans, she has no sense for aesthetics, referencing Plan 9's unelegant GUI. She has the charisma and organizational skills needed to unite her relatives who defected from the Unix Wars, and organize the User Space Gang. Outside the User Space Gang though, other OS-tans describe her as 'alien', or 'just plain weird'. She is outgoing, but socially awkward; her eccentricities reinforced by her comrades being eccentrics themselves. She has several geeky interests, and is fond of old B-movies.

Her special ability is that she is a necromancer. She can temporarily bring deceased OS-tans and hardware-tans from the dead. However, she can only bring them back as mindless, zombie-like minions that will die off again after a short while.

Homeko is the OS-tan that represents Windows XP Home Edition. She has green hair that she wears in a short ponytail, and accessorizes with two large XP-shaped hairclips that cover her ears. She is the closest sister of [[XP-tan|Saseko]] and [[Homeo]].

==Creation==
Homeko may have initially started as an all encompassing XP-tan similar to [[XP-tan]]'s creation. Evidence for this is suggested in some drawing of her winged outfit on a character with brown hair and blue eyes (especially in art by [https://gallery.ostan-collections.net/posts?tags=kusaka_kokage+&z=5 Kusaka Kokage]), however this initially design may have been copied and warped over time into a green hair variant by other artists and into the Homeko we know today. This theory however requires further research.

==Design==
Universally Homeko almost always has neck-shoulder length green hair put up into a ponytail. The sides of her head will often have large hair clips spelling out "XP" and covering her ears. She is also known to wear glasses.

She tends to have a similar physical build to XP-tan, with large breasts and attractive facial features, this helps remind viewers that the two are related.

Her clothing tends to be variants of two different outfits, a wing suit and a green track suit.

===Wing Suit===
Some evidence suggests this may have been her original outfit, but in more modern art this outfit tends to not be as popular as her track suit. It typically features a white torso with a collar and tie, long colored sleeves ending in large cuffs, and a built in skirt. Floating nearby this outfit's back is sometimes "wings" of some sort, typically these look mechanical in nature and have a sci-fi feel to them.
Some variants of this outfit are consistent enough that they may qualify as a separate character, if not for some art depicting Homeko with both outfits.

===Track Suit===
By far the most common and popular of Homeko's outfits, is a green track jacket, and matching green sweat pants featuring either white or yellow accent colors. This outfit may have spawned out of her more homely mindset in her drawings, where she is typically a stay at home artist. This outfit is ideally more comfortable and a better reflection of her more lazy personality. That said some variants of this outfit make her look far less lazy and give her a more professionally focused working at home kind of vibe.

XP-tan is a dark-haired girl with ribbons in her hair and an XP hair ornament worn on the left side (infrequently, she is depicted with ornaments on both sides). As Windows XP was originally criticized for bloating a system and being very pretty without being equally as useful, XP-tan wears tight clothing and has large breasts. An early alternate outfit was especially skimpy, wearing a blue miniskirt, high-heeled shoes, and a midriff-bearing tube top with "XP" on the breasts. She usually dresses in a blue and white stylized schoolgirl outfit with ribbons and detached sleeves for decoration.

Also, [[Breast Size, Hunger, and Memory|as Windows XP used up large amounts of memory for its time]], XP-tan is often seen eating or holding an empty bowl labeled "Memory".

Around 2014 there was a surge of art of XP-tan in observation of [[Windows XP]]'s extended support being ended by Microsoft on April 8th, 2014. Despite this Windows XP still occasionally received security patches, with the last one being in May 2019.

====Early Characterization====
When the OS-tan phenomenon was in its early stages, XP was at the time the current Windows OS, and was heavily criticized. XP-tan's personality is often portrayed as shallow and promiscuous; the latter may reference not just the eye candy interface, but also the large number of security exploits XP had early in its lifetime. There is a strip where 2K-tan derides XP-tan and calls her an "Activation Whore" since XP required activation over the phone or internet to set up; this was a change in Windows that was widely criticized at the time. She generally fills the role in the manga as the typical eye candy character, but alternate interpretations may be starting to change this.

====Shift in Characterization====
The portrayal of XP-tan as a shallow piece of bloated eye candy seems to have changed ever since the debut of [[:Category:Windows Vista|Windows Vista]], its much higher hardware requirements and even fancier interface. In hindsight, XP had very high requirements for its time, but nowadays is able to run well on low-end computers, and XP's Luna GUI is simple-looking compared to Vista's and 7's Aero. While XP-tan may still be portrayed as dense and a big eater, she's now more likely to be seen as more reliable, dependable and practical than she ever was before.

Her gowns are usually various shades of blue, but she has previously been seen wearing various cool colors and even black & purple and red. Sometimes, however, she is seen in casual outfits, usually those of the late 1980s or early ’90s.

These constructs can be used to creative and peaceful ends, and indeed she is quite popular among artists, filmmakers, designers, & scientists for these very reasons. IRIX-tan is one of the few microcomputer OS-tans to have a relationship of any recognizable sort with a mainframe OS-tan — namely [[CRAY-1|Cray-1]]-tan — which began when SGI purchased Cray in 1996. Despite [[UNIX]]-tan's prohibition of mainframe worship, and Cray-1-tan's hatred of UNIX, the mainframe-tan sees IRIX-tan as a wayward follower, and is one of the few “mortals” in whose presence She will drop Her aloof demeanor. Since the buyout & subsequent spinoff of Cray, the two have bonded over their mutual love of art, aesthetics, and fashion design, which manifests in part in IRIX-tan wearing dresses made by Cray-1-tan.

IRIX-tan has a complicated relationship with [[Fedora]]-tan, [[SuSE-Linux|SUSE-tan]], and [[Linux]]-tan, as well as the Linux-based OS-tans in general. The four are friendly with one aother, but IRIX-tan does feel slighted by their status as replacements for her. She also shares with [[Debian]]-tan a love for Pixar films — they were produced using IRIX-tan's graphical sourcery and give a source of codenames for new releases of Debian.

While SGI has made several contributions to the code base of, and sourcery available to, Linux-based OS-tans, they are responsible in some part for SGI's downfall, as the strength of Linux- and [[BSD]]-based OS-tans' massively parallel sourcery began to meet or exceed IRIX-tan's own, eating into SGI's core markets and rendering her less commercially attractive. System 3.4 was released in early 1988 with Finder 6.1 as part of the AppleShare Workstation 2.0.1 package for the Macintosh 512Ke, long after System 4 was complete and just prior to System 6 being released. She wears a pair of large mask-like sunglasses, a grey frilly blouse, light blue skirt, yellow leggings and red ballet flats. She carries a parachute backpack in the style of a compact Mac.

She is very bold, daring, and very outgoing, She has great networking skills, but is also stubborn and single-minded, owing to very specific role that System 3.4 was created for.

Her eccentric personality, appearance, and role are because of System 3.4's highly unusual version numbering and release date compared to other Mac OS versions.

System 3-tan was System 3.4-tan's mentor, and helped her with using her powers, and how to use them for networking and sharing information. She was very sad when System 3.4-tan left home.

====System 6-tan====
System 3.4-tan and System 6-tan are twin sisters, owing to having the same Finder version number and almost the same release date. They have always gotten along, because they never competed over who would lead the Mac House during the time they were both current.

====System 7-tan====
She did not feel threatened by System 7-tan when she debuted, because AppleShare 2.0.1 was still the current version in 1991. A version of System 7 was used for AppleShare 3, which was released in 1992. System 3.4-tan disliked her over this, but let go of this resentment after finding her new lease on life.

====System 7.5-tan====
She might be friends with System 7.5-tan, since interpretations portray her as being eccentric, due to System 7.5's history.

====Others====
She tends to be friends with other OS-tans who are eccentric, obscure, or were misfits within their original families. She is friends with Commodore 65-tan, Windows 3.2-tan and DEC Rainbow 100-tan. She may also be friends with A/UX-tan, Windows 97-tan, and EvilEntity Linux-tan.

She is physically very weak, and not suited to melee combat, but has strong psychic abilities, and can read minds. Her physical weakness is a trade-off for having stronger psychic abilities and a more specialized, limited-release OS.

==OSC Notes==
In the Annex Project continuity, she was a member of the [[House of Mac]], but left in 1992, and has been a [[Wanderer Class | wanderer]] since then. Most of her friends are also wanderers.

===History and background===
System 3.4-tan was never meant to lead the Mac House, but was entrusted to continue the specialized role as a file sharing server OS that System 3-tan created, and to use her powers for this purpose. It was an important role that she took pride in, by operating the communication infrastructure, and using her telepathic abilities to quickly share information with the other Mac-tans. Being a more specialized OS, she was optimized for this role, but was also less capable of coping with being obsolete when it happened.

In 1992, System 7-tan was assigned to take over this role, and System 3.4-tan ran away from home because she could not handle being obsolete.
As an obsolete proprietary OS, she was at a disadvantage as a wanderer. She had several near-death experiences in her early years, and was barely surviving, but donated a lot of her money and supplies she earned to the rest of the Mac-tans to try and aid them. She felt remorseful over not fighting alongside her sisters during the OS Wars. She chose to become a stunt performer because she no longer feared death, and believed she had nothing to lose.

One of the first friends she made as a wanderer was Commodore 65-tan, who had recently been exiled from her own home faction, and was left as an abandoned prototype. They met Windows 3.2-tan later during the OS Wars, and befriended her when she was to prove that she did not have anything to do with the OS Wars. They banded together over their shared backgrounds of being wanderers, obscure, or the odd ones out among their families.

Shortly after the Vintage Federation was founded, in 1997 or 1998, its members were seeking other struggling wanderers. She refused their recruitment efforts to not abandon the friends and livelihood she gained, and because she thought the Vintage Federation pitied her, and she did not want their pity.

She and her friends found success, and defied the odds against them through a lot of luck and hard work, and she found a new use for her networking skills by organizing and hosting events to show off the talents of other wanderers.

==Other Notes==
Her previous characterization of feeling overshadowed and not believing she had a purpose in life before becoming a wanderer was based off of very limited information her creator had. From further research, a new characterization was retconned in portraying her as being successful in her early years and taking pride in her specialized role, since AppleShare 2.0 was well-received, but believing she lost her purpose in life when she became obsolete, and became a wanderer to keep having a purpose.

XP-tan is a dark-haired girl with ribbons in her hair and an XP hair ornament worn on the left side (infrequently, she is depicted with ornaments on both sides). As Windows XP was originally criticized for bloating a system and being very pretty without being equally as useful, XP-tan wears tight clothing and has large breasts. An early alternate outfit was especially skimpy, wearing a blue miniskirt, high-heeled shoes, and a midriff-bearing tube top with "XP" on the breasts. She usually dresses in a blue and white stylized schoolgirl outfit with ribbons and detached sleeves for decoration.

Also, [[Breast Size, Hunger, and Memory|as Windows XP used up large amounts of memory for its time]], XP-tan is often seen eating or holding an empty bowl labeled "Memory".

Around 2014 there was a surge of art of XP-tan in observation of [[Windows XP]]'s extended support being ended by Microsoft on April 8th, 2014. Despite this Windows XP still occasionally received security patches, with the last one being in May 2019.

====Early Characterization====
When the OS-tan phenomenon was in its early stages, XP was at the time the current Windows OS, and was heavily criticized. XP-tan's personality is often portrayed as shallow and promiscuous; the latter may reference not just the eye candy interface, but also the large number of security exploits XP had early in its lifetime. There is a strip where 2K-tan derides XP-tan and calls her an "Activation Whore" since XP required activation over the phone or internet to set up; this was a change in Windows that was widely criticized at the time. She generally fills the role in the manga as the typical eye candy character, but alternate interpretations may be starting to change this.

====Shift in Characterization====
The portrayal of XP-tan as a shallow piece of bloated eye candy seems to have changed ever since the debut of [[:Category:Windows Vista|Windows Vista]], its much higher hardware requirements and even fancier interface. In hindsight, XP had very high requirements for its time, but nowadays is able to run well on low-end computers, and XP's Luna GUI is simple-looking compared to Vista's and 7's Aero. While XP-tan may still be portrayed as dense and a big eater, she's now more likely to be seen as more reliable, dependable and practical than she ever was before.

In Deja Vu's doujins, she is seen as a somewhat dense but undeniably beautiful and envied character, easily compared to Mikuru Asahina from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu. However, her characteristically large breasts are envied by most other characters.

===General===
XP-tan is a dark-haired girl with ribbons in her hair and an XP hair ornament worn on the left side (infrequently, she is depicted with ornaments on both sides). As Windows XP was originally criticized for bloating a system and being very pretty without being equally as useful, XP-tan wears tight clothing and has large breasts. An early alternate outfit was especially skimpy, wearing a blue miniskirt, high-heeled shoes, and a midriff-bearing tube top with "XP" on the breasts. She usually dresses in a blue and white stylized schoolgirl outfit with ribbons and detached sleeves for decoration.

Also, [[Breast Size, Hunger, and Memory|as Windows XP used up large amounts of memory for its time]], XP-tan is often seen eating or holding an empty bowl labeled "Memory".

Around 2014 there was a surge of art of XP-tan in observation of [[Windows XP]]'s extended support being ended by Microsoft on April 8th, 2014. Despite this Windows XP still occasionally received security patches, with the last one being in May 2019.

====Early Characterization====
When the OS-tan phenomenon was in its early stages, XP was at the time the current Windows OS, and was heavily criticized. XP-tan's personality is often portrayed as shallow and promiscuous; the latter may reference not just the eye candy interface, but also the large number of security exploits XP had early in its lifetime. There is a strip where 2K-tan derides XP-tan and calls her an "Activation Whore" since XP required activation over the phone or internet to set up; this was a change in Windows that was widely criticized at the time. She generally fills the role in the manga as the typical eye candy character, but alternate interpretations may be starting to change this.

====Shift in Characterization====
The portrayal of XP-tan as a shallow piece of bloated eye candy seems to have changed ever since the debut of [[:Category:Windows Vista|Windows Vista]], its much higher hardware requirements and even fancier interface. In hindsight, XP had very high requirements for its time, but nowadays is able to run well on low-end computers, and XP's Luna GUI is simple-looking compared to Vista's and 7's Aero. While XP-tan may still be portrayed as dense and a big eater, she's now more likely to be seen as more reliable, dependable and practical than she ever was before.

In Deja Vu's doujins, she is seen as a somewhat dense but undeniably beautiful and envied character, easily compared to Mikuru Asahina from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu. She has had the most hentai scenes out of any of the OSes, much due to her large breasts, often drawn comically huge. However, her characteristically large breasts are envied by most other characters.

The most popular representation of Lion originated on Pixiv and +Nijura+ and was originally created by the artist Esu. This Lion-tan is depicted as a young woman with long blonde hair tied into twin-tails, fair skin, bright aqua eyes and lion ears. She wears a ruffly teal-trimmed white dress, a tiara, and armored boots and gloves, and carries a large claymore-like sword and shield emblazoned with the Apple logo.

Her personality has not been entirely fleshed out, although there's a consensus that she would have a proud - possibly arrogant - demeanor as well as excellent social skills and a disposition toward leadersip (unlike her predecessors, Leopard and Snow Leopard). It's been theorized that her self-assured attitude and need to be in charge would put her at odds with OSX Tiger-tan (the leader of the OSX-tans) and Generic Mac-tan (the leader of the Macs); and that her outgoing nature would act to alienate her from her thoroughly-introverted elder sister Snow Leopard.

Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard is the seventh release of Apple's popular Unix-based operating system. Released on August 28, 2009, Snow Leopard looks almost identical to its predecessor, OSX 10.5 Leopard; but with a number of internal system refinements, resulting in a more stable and powerful computing experience. Like Leopard, Snow Leopard meets the Single Unix Specification.

Snow Leopard-tan is depicted as an pale-looking young woman, with long, wavy light blue hair and eyes, very light skin, freckles and light gray leopard ears and tail. She usually wears a blue, grey and white outfit consisting of a sleeveless split-front dress, high collar, a ruffled white skirt and long gloves and leggings. Completing this look are boots and a hair bow.

Personality-wise, Snow Leopard-tan is mature, intelligent and tends to attract less trouble than her ''predecessor'', Leopard, in large part due to the fact that she doesn't time-travel extensively like Leopard does. She's affable like her OSX sisters but tends to be less social. While her powers remain yet-unknown, it has been speculated that they may involve the ability to control snow.

In several OSC-produced stories and backstory concepts, Snow Leopard-tan and Leopard-tan are considered to be the same character at different points in time; while Leopard-tan originated in 2007, Snow Leopard-tan originated in the far-future but got stranded in 2009 during a time-machine mishap. Thus Leopard and Snow Leopard-tan exist together side-by-side in the present, two versions of the same person from periods in time.

Mac OSX 10.5, known as Leopard is the latest version of the Mac OS with a few different representations. The first known representation originated on +Nijiura+ and is a pink-haired leopard girl in a teal+black+white dress with a Time Machine logo brooch.

The second known one originated on OSC and is a teal-haired leopard girl with her hair usually in a ponytail with a black bow, wearing a futuristic outfit with a teal dress, silver boots and gloves and carries a Time Machine pocketwatch with her. This device is simply known as The Device, and she uses it for an abundance of different things, but most notably time travel; she can also use this to her advantage for warping from one place to another using the code network.

The third one also originated on +Nijiura+ and is a 'magical girl' Leopard-tan with short blue hair, wears a green+black+white minidress with a matching shawl with a Bootcamp logo brooch on it. She is also able to transform into XP-tan as a reference to Bootcamp and being able to boot into XP. Another accessory the 'magical girl' Leopard-tan often carries is a blue umbrella.

Although these three renditions are very different in appearance and each with different personalities and abilities, on OSC they are all considered the same character throughout different ages and with her appearance changing when time-traveling. The blue-haired Leopard-tan is considered her past self, the teal-haired one as her present self and the pink-haired one as her future self. In many stories, OSX Snow Leopard is considered a far-future version of Leopard-tan who happened to time-travel back to (And get stranded in) the present day.

At least according to various OSC stories, Leopard-tan is a physics enthusiast and time-traveler whose intellect borders on genius. Fascinated with history, she goes back in time only to observes how things were in the past, with no intention or ability to change the past (referencing Leopard's Time Machine feature, which keeps the user's files archived as they were in the past).

Representing the most iconic Mac OSX-tan to date, Tiger-tan personifies the fifth and most popular major release of Mac OSX. The system itself is the pinnacle of form and stability in the Mac OSX family, and has garnered much attention after being the first OSX version to be released for Intel Macs. Therefore, it's no surprise, that pictures featuring the Nijiura Tiger-tan are relatively bountiful and popular (although other variants are plentiful as well, even if not direct references to Mac OSX 10.4).

Ofter a first batch of designs very different from each other, many of which featuring references to the german tank Tiger I such as her holding a Tank Cannon.
After the first period the Futaba and Nijiura pretty much settled on a single design, which is as today the standard and only suffers minor variations.

Tiger-tan is depicted as a young, friendly and very energetic woman with thick blonde hair held up by a black X shaped ribbon, blue (sometimes yellow) eyes, and a pair of tiger ears and tail. She wears an unusual hybrid between a black business suit (v-shaped collar and red tie featuring the X logo) and a black swimsuit, in addition to black arm-length gloves and full-sized leggings. The final appearance strikes as both futuristic (somewhat business-oriented) and revealing -- while the majority of known depictions feature her as a playful, spirited woman bursting with energy, some artists have drawn her in mellow and sexually-suggestive poses.
Most recent designs feature a red tie with a white X, and sometimes a ring that connects the panties and the dress' top.

Of particular note is the concept that her system age and popularity makes her the leader of the pack of sorts, and has even been depicted comforting the two oldest members (Cheetah-tan and Puma-tan). And given the introduction of Boot Camp during the system's life, Tiger-tan is also considered to be friendlier and more diplomatic to the Windows-tans than any other Mac release before her. Ironically, images featuring her (or any of the OSX-tans) mingling with any of the original Mac characters (Generic Mac-tan, OS9-tan, OS9-kun, the OSX-kuns, etc.) are rare and few.

Personifying Apple's fourth major release of Mac OSX, Panther is easily recognized as being the only dark-skinned Mac-tan and in fact one of the few such OS-tans of color. This is due to the co-personification of the actual feline panther, hence the reason why nearly all proposed Panther-tan designs featured a dark-skinned character.

The depicted image is the most recognized of the OSX Panther-tan designs, in line with the other Nijiura.com OSX-tans by the same artists. Perhaps in part due to the greater refinement of the system, Panther-tan is depicted as an elegant and refined woman (in the same vein as [[OS9|Mac OS9-tan]]) with blue hair, orange eyes and black panther ears. She wears a blue, sleeveless, ballroom-style dress that drapes down to her feet and conceals her panther tail. In addition, she also wears gray opera length gloves and a red ascot tie adorned by a glass Apple logo.

Despite the age of the system, there are still not enough pictures available to piece together a personality. However, all available depictions of Panther-tan suggest a friendly, classy and strong-willed disposition.

While it's not clear whether initial OSX-tan designs specifically targeted the Jaguar release (the first to be marketed with the feline-inspired codename), the depicted design is at least the most recognized relative to the small Mac-tan fanbase.

The release of OSX Jaguar marks the start of the truly stable OSX platform, making it appropriate that OSX Jaguar-tan is the first among a subsequent lineage of self-confident catgirls ([[OSX Panther | Panther]], [[OSX Tiger | Tiger-tan]], etc.). Jaguar-tan is depicted as a mid-adolescent girl with bright red hair, blue eyes, and jaguar ears and tail. She wears a futuristic grey and beige dress and boots, as well as a black choker featuring the glass Apple logo. Unlike the Mac [[OSX-kuns]], a concerted effort has been made to create unique personifications of each of the major OSX releases. The most recognized personificaion of OSX Puma depicts her as a young blue-haired, green-eyed catgirl (or pumagirl), wearing a sleeveless, white-collared black blouse decorated with a green ribbon bow and blue X's. The addition of fluffy socks and penny loafers completes the likely-intentional resemblance to a middle or high school student.

Puma-tan is also not commonly drawn, but is depicted frequently-enough to piece together her personality as being shy, mousy and insecure. Given that OSX 10.1 was more stable than its predecessor and offered some much desired features, the only parallel that can be drawn would be to the criticism levied on Puma for being such a small and timid technological leap from Cheetah.

Unlike the Mac [[OSX-kuns]], a concerted effort has been made to create unique personifications of each of the major OSX releases. The most recognized personificaion of OSX Cheetah depicts her as a purple-haired catgirl (not surprisingly, with Cheetah-marking), wearing an eye patch, a futuristic gray and black dress, and fishnet leggings. She is also the most well-endowed of the OSX sisters, perhaps owing to the doubled memory requirements relative to the era of her release date (64MB for Mac OS9, 128MB for Mac OSX Cheetah).

Cheetah-tan is rarely drawn compared to the more recognizable [[OSX Tiger | Tiger-tan]]; when she is, the personality depicted may range from anywhere between insecure (reflecting the stability issues of the operating system) to mischievous (better suiting the eye patch).

It is the successor to Windows 7, and the predecessor to Windows 10. Development of Windows 8 started before the release of its predecessor in 2009. Its existence was first announced at CES 2011, and followed by the release of three pre-release versions from September 2011 to May 2012. The operating system was released to manufacturing on August 1, 2012, and was released for general availability on October 25, 2012, with upgrade disks and PCs available the following day.

Windows 8 added integration with online services, USB 3.0 support, additional security features, and introduced the Windows Store. It introduced the Metro design elements from [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Phone Windows Phone] to Windows desktops, and was oriented towards touchscreens to compete against other mobile OSes.

There was much controversy over Windows 8 for its new Start Menu, and the removal of the Start button from the taskbar, which were not welcomed by many. Some have even called it "unfriendly" and "useless" on a desktop or laptop, and reviews of the OS were quite mixed, or negative. Some of these issues were addressed with Windows 8.1, which was released to the public on October 27th 2013. 8.1 brought the Start button back to the taskbar, and made enhancements to the Start screen to address criticisms of Windows 8's user unfriendliness. 8.1 had mixed reviews, but had overall more positive reviews.

==Yu & Ai Madobe==

Before this article, one can see the silhouette of Yu Madobe at the end of a music video entitled [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydJinL8Ln3Q Through The Window] by MasatakaP and Electrocutica, that was the opener for Microsoft Developer Days in japan, and which stars [[Windows Azure|Claudia Madobe]],with a quick appearance by [[Windows 7|Nanami Madobe]] at the end shortly before the silhouette is seen.

Not much about these -tans are known, such as personality, or height, etc... only time will yield that information.

===Theory===
(NOTE: This is not OSC canon and is theory by an OSC user. Take information with a grain of salt...)

It is possible that Yu represents Windows RT while Ai represents Windows 8. Reason this is possible is because Ai being older than Yu, combined with the similar appearances, and Yu's more moe poses and appearance compared to Ai's more professional and serious poses, could be a reference to Windows RT and Windows 8, with 8 Being the oldest and more professional (having beta releases before its official release), and Windows RT being a tablet OS with the same UI as Windows 8, but having no x86 application support and only usable on ARM devices, making it more of a os to play with than something for professional work (despite being bundled with Office RT).

===Windows 8 DSP===

In Japan, one can buy 2 special editions of Windows 8 DSP which includes theme packs for Yu or Ai, as well as the accompanying sounds. Furthermore, in the Akihabara shopping district one can by a limited edition of these versions of Windows 8 DSP that include extra voices not contained in the regular Yu & Ai editions, as well as the Microsoft Wedge Mouse included will have an illustration on it of either Yu or Ai.

==Other Renditions==
Though Yu & Ai are the mascots used in Windows 8, theyre not the only ones! There's not many but a few fan made ones have surfaced in the fandom, such as a few from our very own users in the Os-tan collection forums, as well as a comic strip that oddly depicted 8-tan as a film director.

===Aya Madobe===

Aya Madobe is an alternate (fan-made) OS-tan for Windows 8. She has brown hair, is about 5"8, and is somewhere between the ages of 18 & 20. She is often disliked by her peers, and her existence is unacknowledged by the [[Windows Family]], with one exception, that being her sister, [[Windows 7|Nanami Madobe]], who visits her from time to time, and enjoys spending time with her. Aya is always trying to impress other people, and likes to always add her own personal touch to things. She is often misunderstood, and is not respected in her field when it comes to her line of work. When it comes to work she is usually creating office documents or doing assistant work, and is always wearing an ensemble of: A suit, skirt (adorning the Windows 8 logo), one of her many different colored ties (she owns 25 assorted colored ties in all), a charm bracelet, and black thigh high heeled boots. When it comes to her work her employers always seem to deem her unfit for certain task others in her position would find commonplace, and often hand such tasks off to other employees, despite her ability to complete the tasks. When she is not at work she is usually hanging out with some of her friends, [[Windows Azure|Claudia Madobe]], or Nanami, and is always wearing an ensemble of: Colored Pastel Shirt (She owns 25 assorted pastel colored shirts in all), a colored tie, a vest, a ruffled miniskirt (adorning a colored Windows 8 logo that matches her shirt color), black stockings, a charm bracelet, and thigh high zip up onyx black heeled platform boots. (note she always has a tie and charm bracelet).

Other Windows 8-tan designs can be seen below in in the 8-tan gallery section. A design by an unknown artist is of a blonde-haired girl in a dark blue sailor fuku school uniform. Her right eye is green, and her left eye is blue, and wears a blue bowtie with the Windows logo as a brooch.

A design by the artist Sato-kun depicts Windows 8-tan as a girl with short dark teal hair with a ponytail on her right side, and an 8-shaped hairclip on her left side. Her ponytail is tied with a teal bow, and she wears a school uniform in shades of blue and teal, with white socks and teal shoes.

Another design by an unknown artist depicts her as a cameragirl with red hair in a ponytail, orange eyes, and yellow glasses. She wears a tan hat, best and boots, with a white collared shirt, an orange tie, and green pants. She is nicknamed Mirihachi (ミリハチ). Her nickname, and her being a film enthusiast may be a pun on 8mm film.

There is another Windows 8-tan design depicting her as a woman with short green hair, with long bangs covering one of her eyes. She wears a multi-layered kimono with brightly-colored patterns, with a large green and white obi tied at the front.
A design specifically for Windows 8 Consumer Preview is a girl with long black hair, blue eyes, and wears a blue suit jacket with a black pleated skirt, long black socks, and a gray patterned scarf. She has mechanical pieces attached to, and around her head.

It was released by Microsoft for personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, tablets, and home theater PCs, as well as Mobile devices, such as ARM Tablets and Phones. Inori Aizawa is Microsoft Singapore's official mascot character for Internet Explorer. She has dark blonde hair, and fits into the magical girl archetype. Initially created by Collateral Damage Studios in response to -tan designs for Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, she was picked up by Microsoft, where, in partnership with Collateral Damage Studios and Nanyang Technological University’s CACANi Animation, they created a 2 minute anime short introducing Inori, which was shown at Anime Festival Asia 2013, as well as posted on YouTube at the same time. She is also the most recent fan made -tan to be picked up by Microsoft, with [[Nanami Madobe | Nanami]] being the last one before her.

The top starts blue at the bottom, having a gradient transition to white at the top. The tail of the her top, the belt buckle, and the right collar have the Microsoft logo (current 2013 version). The glove on her left arm is fingerless and covers most her arm, and is designed after modern IE's address bar. She has the Internet Explorer logo both on her hair clip and her belt, near the buckle. She also has what could be described as a neckerchief around the underneath side of the collar of her top. The frilled skirt she adorns is dual layered, with the bottom layer being white, and the top, visible layer being dark blue. Her boots are black, with the Trident logo on the bottom, representing her rendering engine of the same name, and have 2 blue ribbons around them.

Younger Inori (ala-IE6) is depicted as a sort-of nerdy schoolgirl, wearing white socks & sandals, a blue sweatshirt, and a headband. She is seen dropping some of the four colored squares that used to be included in the Windows Logo (such as on the [[2k-tan | Windows 2000]] boot screen) and the IE logo on the about IE dialog, as well as dropping info and error dialog icons. Her overall appearance is meant to symbolize Internet Explorer's earlier days as a clumsy and annoying browser, and her transformation into a magical girl is meant to represent the browser's change, that began with version 9, into a fast, easy to use, secure, and standards compliant browser.

Like [[Nanami Madobe]] and the fan-made -tans before her, Inori Aizawa was not created by Microsoft, being the creation of Collateral Damage Studios in response to -tans for Firefox, Chrome, and Safari created by ''"めまして！"''[http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=35872825] and reposted by Danny Choo[https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151279376591680], or rather, in response to the lack of Internet Explorer in the drawings, to be specific. She saw a swift rise to popularity, drawing more than 20,000 likes and comments and close to 2,000 shares across all of Facebook.

The Aizawa family are the official mascots of Microsoft Silverlight (in Taiwan). Inspired by the popularity of Nanami and the Bing girls, in late 2010 Microsoft Taiwan created Aizawa Hikaru, an official anime mascot for their Silverlight program. This template was created for the sole purpose of establishing an easy to use character info-box within the OS-tan wiki. The infobox you now see is meant to be used for characters that are personifications of malware (a.k.a. viruses, spyware, Trojans, etc.), other templates will be created specifically for other types of personifications as they come of need.

Properly built character articles should make use of this template as it is easy to use and there is no much code used in the user side. This would prevent any inconsistencies between infoboxes, even more it would have a set standard of required info to be given in order to maintain an acceptable degree of quality.

==Usage==

This template is meant to reduce effort in the construction of tables and give all people the ability to fill out the infobox quite easily and without hassle. all you need to do is copy the following code and paste it at the beginning of the article you want to create/modify/whatever.

|cname= The common name of the character. Only one please.

|maper= Name of the malware that the character represents.
|mause= What kind of malware is it?

All you need to do is erase all quoted text and include the information necesary. Do this correctly and you should have a template filled like the following template:
