C-Chan...well, yeah. He was the old sage of this place, wasn't he. Ever present, ever helpful, ever cheerful, ever writing his enormous wall-of-text-posts everywhere. Good times. ;w;

Thurosis started going AWOL bit by bit by the time I came around though, so I don't have much experience with him.

THIS POST ALSO MADE ME MISS TSU-TAN AND SMOKEY, WHO ARE BOTH OUT ON MILITARY DUTY AND SEEM TO HAVE FORGOTTEN US ;_;

I miss them too! I don't know if the others will return, but C-Chan won't- he officially retired two years ago. :(

NejinOniwa

That's a sad story, isn't it. ;_;

Why did he leave, anyway? Lost interest in the fandom? I mean, he's still on dA doing some stuff, but not much in our direction that I've seen.

I can't recall why he left exactly. :(

Tsubashi. And I'm pretty sure Vae was Tsu-tan's russian friend or something like that.

Nejin's description of C-Chan was pretty much the most accurate possible. I cannot remember exactly anymore either, but I believe I have at least some blame to take for his departure: he was always extremely enthusiastic, but I think he was frustrated with the lack of activity and support by the admin(s). Fedora-Tan had some talks with him to keep him around and he did stick around a bit longer - only to be frustrated again. During his, Thurosis's and NewYinzer's period of activity I was very pissed off with life in general and I think it showed very much here as well.

That's also the reason why I hardly knew Thurosis or NewYinzer at all: C-Chan was pretty much the only person with CaptBrenden and q4(v) I got along with here anyway. Tsubashi I only got to know in IM after Tsu was already an admin, and we got along really well, however this year after exchanging a handful of emails in the spring we haven't had contact as Tsubashi has quite limited access to internet I believe (and I SUCK at writing emails).

The worst is that I never had any arguments with anyone else really, it was just that I felt I wouldn't get along with them: that was a very common feeling too back then, no matter where. CaptBrenden and I fought pretty much every time we still talked, but she's nevertheless someone I still consider a very good friend!

TL;DR: whine whine whine, the old members were quite awesome, but unfortunately I wasn't. x.x;

I've mixed feelings about C-chan and his departure from OSC. On one hand, he was an awesome artist and great fun to wall-o-text with and I wouldn't be where I am - in the OS-tan fandom and a broader artistic sense - without his generous help. But he always had a sort of nebulous grimness about him; at least that was the impression I got from corresponding with him via PM and email, where he dropped some (but not all) of his typical forum chipperness. Not least of which being his biweekly retirement feigns/attempts, long rants on economics, politics, metaphysics or the other excruciating minutiae of life that I really don't care to wallotext about with people, and his semi-constantly reminding me of the dead-endishness of the OS-tan hobby and the imminent doom that faced OSC. Having provided much of my inspiration, I was very attached to him artistically and left OSC not long after he did and resurrected my abandoned dA account.

We talked regularly after his leaving OSC but he abruptly broke off contact with me late last winter. I'm semi-pissed about this, since he never provided any explanation nor shows the slightest interest in my artwork anymore.

TL;DR, it was fun when he was here but also rather stressful -- I wouldn't want to go back again or have him back. = =

Well, the old timers are what compelled me to join (mainly Bells, Aurora, and C-Chan) but I didn't actually know any of them.  Waaaaaaaay before my time.  So I've got a ton of work to do this work I guess.  To be honest as much as I like my Civil Liberties professor his extra paper couldn't have come at a much worse time.

Krizonar

Bella and Aurora are who convinced me to join, I remember it like it was yesterday...

Of course, the first thing I did when they posted on my Tan work was fangasm, cuz I mean, I knew what the OSC (have for a while) was and I was like "they're seriously talking to me?"

Bella

Heh, interesting that we had an impact even without knowing yous at the time...

You remember it like it was yesterday because it was a week ago Chozo. xP There's no elitism in the OS-tan fandom, we're a pretty approachable bunch. Glad we could make you fangasm. XD

stewartsage

We've (I) all had that moment, Kriz, when the Great Old Ones descend from R'lyeh to comment on your work; it's the best feeling in the
world :D

NejinOniwa

THAT clip is not conveying it, however. >___>
