True, though my provider shipped the phone with 4.1 and refused to update it. I did have Cyanogenmod running on it briefly, as an experiment after I upgraded, but it died as soon as I tried to add OpenGapps, so I could access the Play Store; forcing me to fight through repeating error messages to reflash it to the backup I made of the stock ROM

Yay! Good to see this thread picking up some steam. :D

Quote from: Red-Machine on January 29, 2017, 10:26:33 AMI crawled out of bed at 4pm, and am currently drinking a Coke.  Also I'm waiting impatiently for my new iPhone to arrive, as the Samsung Galaxy S3 I bought in november has been a pain in the ass from the get go.

Quote from: Penti-chan on January 29, 2017, 10:51:48 AM^ I replaced my old S3 last summer when I changed providers, since the issues I was having with it (Slowdowns, frequent crashes, etc.) were becoming too much of a hassle, and I didn't like how my provider at the time refused to offer OTA updates for their phones; instead wanting people to just buy a brand new phone if they need a newer version of Android.

My Samsung Galaxy S1 aged super quickly. I got it in 2012 and it was pretty much unusable 6 months later (apps crashed constantly, overheating, couldn't handle software updates, etc)... and it finally broke in 2013, when I replaced it with an S5, which runs just as well as the day I got it. I'm convinced earlier generation Galaxies weren't very high quality.

Nichi

My S3 had problems since day 1, leading me to think it might have been a factory defect (As none of the ones I had activated for customers had the problems mine did out of the box), but I just dealt with it until the problems became too difficult to ignore. Now I have a Galaxy Amp 2, which is practically just an S3 in cheaper packaging, but much more reliable.

I'm using a BlackBerry Q10 until the iPhone arrives.

Before my current phone (Asus, ZenFone 2) I was carrying a cheap Samsung DuoS or something. It wasn't even available in French market but had to be imported from the less demanding markets of the Union. I had it as I needed a dual-sim phone, but unfortunately I dropped it to the ground shortly afterwards, and anyway it turned out to be super unstable and slow as hell. Oh well.

The ZenFone has been a pleasure to use. Mind you, I haven't ever had a kickass high-end smartphone so this is the closest to one I'll probably get. It's just as smooth as on day 1 (been six months now). Yet, it came with a shitload of apps pre-installed so a big caveat there.

Life's been complicated since Fedora-Tan and I broke up. I'm not very good at dealing with all the adult stuff after being so sheltered/isolated for years. I'm on anxiety and depression pills, but I believe I'm eventually getting it together. I have a loving partner and a big pile of plushies.

I love going out dancing when I'm just comfortable enough. My style has evolved into a much more butch direction in the last 12 months, as I feel more confident about my identity.

I found this and it made me chuckle.  I wish I could do this to everyone with a combover.

@pit: love you and love it. if you need help adulting, I was planning on giving rudimentary tips to my friend Artemis. :0

@Red: have you ordered the phone yet? if not, consider an SE! I have an iPhone SE and I love it. All the current tech of the series in a nice little package, made cheaper by using the 5's architecture. has a better camera and battery life than the 6! :0

Unfortunately, I cannot afford the SE right now.  Even without my having pre-ordered the Nintendo Switch.  The phone just arrived anyway, so it's a moot point by now.

You know, I actually kinda wanted to preorder the Switch, but the local store is filled up, and even then, I don't have the money for one (Same problem with a PS4, or making much-needed upgrades to 2kME-tan the Desktop; since I'm stuck with its on-board video after my graphics card got fried...although, before it died, there were interesting graphical glitches, feeling like Vinny took a corrupter to the game xD)

Here's my latest vlog, for anybody interested in watching.

Hey Kari, how goes your classes?

Started class this week, trying to balance school and relaxation better since I did a very bad job with it last semester. :(

@Bella: Good luck :[
Also, I just realized you have 11,111 posts currently -w-

Today was my day off, though it was a lot busier than I would have liked. It starts off easy enough; I get up, I listen to the latest commentary released by Some Jerk With A Camera (He's releasing a new one each day, covering all 8 parts of his "ABC Sitcoms Go To Disney World" retrospective), and then I get the idea to work on a new review...and then mom decides "let's go to Tyler".

We end up spending more time there than we intended, and by the time we got home, we had to rush to get my sister's dining table to her before it got dark out. We also needed to go by my grandparents' place (Mom's side), and pick up some tables...and they unloaded some extra junk on us, to put in the sale, on top of giving us the shittiest looking tables possible that are literally falling apart (In fact, I got a small cut on my leg from the loose wood on one of them). At last, with all of that out of the way, we go obtain burgers for supper.

Also, I may have put a little too much booze in this drink I mixed. Oh well; with how hectic today was, it's nice to unwind

LeaflameSD

@Penti: Sounds like a tedious time overall, but burgers + alcohol is a good time, at least... right? o3o
@Bella: Good luck!
@Red: Subbed
@Pitkin: ZenFones are usually pretty decent budget phones, but the designs give me a bit of pause (power button at the very top of the device ;^;)

So I guess I've started learning Japanese again after not seeing my teacher for well over six months now... I promised myself I would learn the language since I was 12, so I can't afford to waste time. It would be nice to do something like that language learning thread I made a while back, but without my impaired maturity.

So today I realised that Screamin' Jay Hawkins' I Put a Spell On You is essentially about a obssessive rapist talking about his next victim.  Just look at these lyrics.

I love you, I love you
I love you anyhow
I don't care if you don't want me
I'm yours right now

I put a spell on you
Because you're mine, mine, mine
Oh you're mine

reminds me of the intentions behind "Every Step You Take". everyone thinks it's so sweet, and nice, but no, it's actually about a stalker.

@Pent: good luck with the sale! and we can be rando injury buddies, I have a large cut on my arm that came out of nowhere. :0

@Bells: they're nice! time-consuming, but nice. i'm getting comfortable but am still nervous about screwing up. It doesn't seem that hard, though, when some of my classmates don't use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation...

also, I want to buy my textbooks. :0

@leaf: congrats!! I HIGHLY recommend this youtube series; I have a lot of trouble with language learning, and all the stuff I learned with it stuck!

moved a bunch of stuff to Rindge today, with mum. most of it went upstairs, but some had to stay downstairs for the moment, since either I didn't want dog fur on it, or the box was basically destroyed (I bought a bookshelf where the box is shredded. a bitch to transport, but I got 10% off! ).
