Sounds like a good trip, Pent.

Work almost went to hell but only got a little scorching.

Chocofreak13

don't sell your soul to the Devil, Stew! we already almost did that yesterday in-game.

@Pent: glad you had a good time, even if the traffic was shit, the people were crap, and the bed was doodie. i yaaaayed when i learned of the manga, so thankyou, even if you didn't have to. ^^

also dammit i still want to pet vester
like my cat instincts are so strong that even if he's 2,000 miles away i still want to pet him

Jimmy John's is good stuff. :D

I had it delivered to me at school once.

Forgot what I had, but it was good stuff.

I had it a few times before that. Once because my mom took me to one in Indy, and again because one of my mom's former co-workers gave me one because he was a nice guy.

wonder what kind of food they have. also i want pizza for some reason.

Softy is turning out to be a slight pain in the ass since all her drivers are geared for Windows 8 and as such i need to find and download drivers for 7 otherwise her wireless card won't work. ><;

@Kari: Good luck :[

Also, the replacement skirt fits. It's so nice >w<

she is resisting hard becoming part of the team. maybe she didn't like the switch to 7? but either way she's being quite a bitch and i feel like i'm trying to break in a wild stallion. only less dramatic. :\

(i can't even get frustrated with her, since if i BREATHE on her wrong she'll break. >>; )

Unpopular opinion: I've used Windows 8 for about a year on the lab computers and I still have yet to notice any major differences between it and Windows 7, except for the Metro start screen thing. If Microsoft offered an option to get rid of Metro and reinstate the Start Menu out-of-the-box I'd be hard pressed to find a single (non-GUI) difference between them.

Then again I don't really use the start menu to begin with, I just drag all my frequently-used icons onto the task bar and launch things from there. If you really want a start menu, there's a mod for that.

Nichi

Let's keep in mind that 8 and 7 are basically the same OS under the hood, and with Classic Shell or another similar program installed to bring back proper Start Menu functionality, the only drastic change is cosmetic.

Also, I seriously need a new mouse; highlighting stuff is becoming nigh-on impossible. I think playing all that Half-Life and Portal over the summer has finally taken its toll on this cheap mouse :\

Chocofreak13

it's hard enough to run some of my programs on 7, so i don't want to get a further edition removed from the ones set up for it.

also, irrational as it may be, i just really, really don't like it.

True enough; I have Virtualbox with Windows 2000 setup as a compatibility layer, to run those few things I can't shoehorn onto 7 :\

Chocofreak13

i managed to get a program from 1997 to run on 7 once. took me about 45 minutes of compatibility finagling and ran like shit, but it worked. :\

#24881
...I once ran software from Chicago 58s (The earliest functional beta of Windows 95 known to exist - circa 1993) on Windows 7 -w-;
(Granted, it was all stuff like MS Paint and Notepad; stuff 7 comes with its own native versions of, so...)

Otherwise, yeah; most things usually require a lot of jumping through hoops to get compatibility features enabled. Lego Racers was a pain in the ass, for instance

ahh

I got 3D Movie Maker (1995) to install on Windows 8.

It just took some time to get the setup program running. It needed to run in some compatibility mode in order to be installed.

But running the actual program doesn't.

Chocofreak13

this was a game called Theme Hospital. i have a few other legacy programs i like (including a favoured art program that's compatible 95-XP but i can't use anymore because i registered the product key and it doesn't take into account the computer died and the company's in japan >>;; ), so 7 is also just easier.

I remember trying futilely to get Rayman 2 to run on 2k. My disc of it wouldn't install at all (As Ubisoft made the boneheaded decision to use a 16-bit installer for a 32-bit game), and once I obtained the GOG version, I found the control scheme for it was beyond terrible and there was no way to configure a game controller to be used with it, which has lead me to resuming my quest to find the Dreamcast version :\
