I gotta get out of jobcorps!

Good news is I do, at the end of this week. Vacation for two weeks, then go back until july 24, after that I can say fuck this place and move on.
Oddly enough Jobcorps has helped who I am for the better, I mean for one I'm still alive and two I've figured out a few things about myself that I'm glad I know now. I'm glad I am who I am. I will be getting some monies too, something like 1200 or half that at first. Also, not moving to Arkansas anymore, though I think I only told Spence and Bella. Mostly because I've found someone I wanna be close to for the time being. That and I know providence, I'm better off here for now.
Simon was here :P

That's good

I'm completely drained right now; any good mood I had is gone and replaced with stress over a job I haven't even started yet. Really wish I had turned down the offer from Wal-Mart

day 15: the dwarves do not know how to farm, thus, they starve in their hovels. a saint's patience is required to teach them
What's in your hand, back at me. I have it, it's an oyster with two figures of your favorite Touhou characters. Look again, the figures are now vials of the Hourai Elixir. Anything is possible when your waifu smells like Old World and not a man. I'm a frog.

Things I want to do: Restore that mega ultra old Windows XP that I own my family owns.

I've been tasked to keep the baby/toddler pictures safe... but the last time it was booted, I didn't have a flash drive. -_-

I've had a flash drive for almost two years. Now is a shitty time to ask my parents because storms, but I hope to at least keep the pictures safe before the school year starts.

Nichi

Cool. Hope that goes well :3

The restoration is the least I could do for the computer. I think I screwed it up in major ways because I was a curious six-year-old. And I've been procrastinating for far too long. My parents have asked me to do the baby pictures thing two or three years ago. xD

Also, the final touch with the restoration will be to name the computer Homeko because I'm a little shit like that. To be precise it's a Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 that was first shipped to my parents all the way back in September-October-November 2001, and that makes it among the earliest (but not necessarily the first) Windows XPs (that came through OEM, which is how my parents always get computers) to come.

Another thing I want to do in the future (after I fix Homeko) is find an old computer my parents wanted to give me as a little kid but never did and potentially restore that. However, actually finding it will be the hard part: it's currently MIA and I don't think it even came with us when my family moved. It's a Windows 9x, and unfortunately I can't get anymore specific than that. I do have a few guesses on where it is if it made it here, and it's the places where I don't go at all because I'm either not allowed or it's barricaded.

Nichi

Ahh. If you need Windows 95, 98, or even ME, I can provide; I have several copies in storage, so I could mail you one if you're interested (And your parents don't mind a strange internet person such as myself sending something to you -w-;; )

Also, I still have the computer my parents bought new when I was 5. It still works to this day; in fact it actually works better since I got mom away from it LOL

winduko

That sounds like a godsend if it weren't for the fact that they'd totally mind strange internet people sending stuff to my home. Dx

I'd need a monitor for it first, as I doubt we have a working monitor for the MIA one, as the CRT monitors that were used with Homeko were ultimately replaced potentially due to damage, and while it did have one, it might not be in the best condition. And I also acknowledge that the computer itself might not be in working condition (staying in a box in a garage that doesn't have the best of conditions could wear any computer down, and it's probably in such a place if it's even here).

However... the speakers that it used to use had a few years left in them. I have high hopes for the MIA one... provided that I find her.

So. 8.0 in Alaska. Tsunami heading towards Japan. Discuss.

shit shit, not again.

@kodomo: trololol, now i want to send you all the benign-yet-weird things like walmart coupons and dried flowers just to prove that internet people are weird but not dangerous. also, good luck finding Niney.

It seems I've developed an appreciation for the aesthetics of the flatlands. I swear the rural parts of Michigan and Ohio are 10x prettier than I remember them being last time I was here...

Actually everything's better than I remember it being. Rare thing, that.

Nichi

Cool :3
Glad to know it's going better than you expected.

Tomorrow morning, my first day at Wal-Mart. I hope it doesn't suck as bad as I'm anticipating, after the problems I had earlier out of them ;_;

Bella

It's strange. For the longest time open landscapes have me a sort of .... reverse-claustrophobia, a kind of anxiety about there not being anything vertical around me. Flat and wooded is kind of dull, but I've begun to appreciate wide open views and being able to see to the horizon. Dunno why, maybe it's just a craving to see something different from what I'm used to. It's my first trip away from the east coast (or mountainous regions of WV) in 5 years after all...

Good luck at work Pent. :C

winduko

@Kari: I find that extremely amusing. xD Sadly I'd be in deep shit if I get mail from the far away city of Boston (or wherever you live, but I recall you saying you're from that area?), even if it's as benign and hilarious as dried flowers and coupons. And I hope I find her too. I always wanted to use a physical Windows 9x for the hell of it, and at this point I don't care if it's Windows ME (though if it were, I seriously doubt it'd be found, as both my parents dislike it and have no reason to bring it with them). Also, congratulations on finishing book one of Ace's High. :D

@Bella: Can't blame you for wanting something different. I probably won't be able to leave where I am for years. Dx

@Pent: I wish you the best of luck at Wal-Mart tomorrow. I wish I could offer friendly advice, but I have yet to get a job.

Nichi

@Everyone: Thanks. I'm up way too early, waiting for coffee to be ready -w-;;

@Duko: Well, if you get a job and get into online shopping, it can provide a cover; my mom just assumes any boxes for me from names she doesn't recognize are things I've won on eBay xD
