besides La Tale, I was going to suggest you download an emulator and play something light, or find a free Visual Novel and play it.

flash games don't count in this context, right?

There's scribblenauts unlimited, but idk how much it is on steam.

Lets see... you could always do Long Live The Queen that we talked about here a few months ago.

If youre into online MMORPGs, and enjoy star trek, There is Star Trek Online (Free To Play), but be warned decent internet is required.

Bella has probably the best connection of anyone here inside the US, so anything needing a "decent internet connection" is easy for her when she could download the entirety of Wikipedia several times over in less time than it takes for me to download the recent title updates for Portal 2 :\

Chocofreak13

her drawback is that her computers can't handle anything too graphics heavy unless it's available for OSX. which is why I suggested La Tale or MapleStory. -w-

she should totes get Scribblenauts on an emulator, that game was easy, quick, and sooooo fun. >w<

Thanks for the tips everyone!

@Pent: Psychonauts is a game I've wanted to play for awhile – I just looked it up on Steam and it's available for OS X and is only $10, so that would fit my criteria and then some.

@Kari & Dustii: I've considered playing and reviewing a visual novel as well, but I'm not sure if they would count. I'll ask my instructor about it tomorrow.

As for Scribblenauts, I remember playing that with my nephew a few years ago and having fun with it ... another one to consider. That is, if I can find a decent DS emulator and get it to work on it.

I generally don't play MMORPGs, but that might not be a /bad/ thing since I'm supposed to try something new and report back on it. La Tale would be a good choice if I decide to go that route, since Kari already plays and could give me a run down of the basic gameplay and whatnot.

Receiver (the game Stew suggested) looks minimalistic but difficult (and it would probably be frustrating for me). That said, the gameplay mechanics sound novel too?

I'm speaking of the most recent Scribblenauts, "Scribblenauts Unlimited", for 3DS, Wii U, and Steam (Windows 7+). It's $20 though on steam, but it does have the object creator in the Steam and Wii U versions

If you're reviewing a game, visual novels don't really fall much into that category. Games like the Ace Attorney series are the most gameplay you'd be able to find in something that's more reading than gameplay.
Visual novels in general though, are just really long books with multiple endings based on choices. I don't think they would be suitable for a programming class, as it's just too simple.

Pitkin

You could try Game Dev Tycoon or Shufflepuck Cantina too. ^^

Krizonar

I will concur with Game Dev Tycoon. It is very fun!

@Bella: I play MapleStory, so if you went with that and make sure you make your character on the server I'm on, I can help you get the hang of it once you're off the tutorial island :3

As for a DS emulator, I typically use DesMuMe, so you can look into that one.

SoldierSpence

@Bella- If you are going for a DS Emulator like Pent suggested, why not give the Mega Man Star Force Trilogy a shot? If you like action RPGs or loved the Battle Network series- then you'll definitely feel at home with these games.

I hope your ready!

I hear No$GBA supports Wi-Fi connections.

*whines* I was up all night puking and I'm in school and don't feel much better
What's in your hand, back at me. I have it, it's an oyster with two figures of your favorite Touhou characters. Look again, the figures are now vials of the Hourai Elixir. Anything is possible when your waifu smells like Old World and not a man. I'm a frog.

SoldierSpence

@Cockleshell-  :( I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better soon.
