@Pit: You know, that is one thing that annoys me about most modern PC games; how the disc is pretty much worthless after you install unless you ever need to reinstall. I mean, Fallout 3 still requires the disc to play, which I don't mind (Most PC games I played as a kid required the disc to be inserted), but it seems kind of stupid to have the discs for the Orange Box lying around when it's pretty much useless as it has to download so many updates from Steam that you may as well download the games from Steam to begin with :\

i agree that useless clutter is a great annoyance. but when i'm devoting hours, days, weeks, even months of my life to this thing, it feels realer to have a physical copy. like, i cherish it more because it's really there. compared to anime and music, i like those too, but those come and go. when i pop the disk into the PS2 and get really into it, when i get sneak attacked by an Ironball Mania in Lambda: Cursed Her Holy Ground, and i really FEEL it as it smacks its mace into me, when i pull off a 6-level geo panel combo and watch the colours explode, that's when it feels real, and that's when i love having a "real" copy.

plus, in some cases, they come with extras, such as the Bioshock 2 Special Edition PC copy i got (for over half off!!) that came with the soundtrack, posters, and even a Vinyl Record. -w-

I also strongly prefer buying physical games (as well as music and movies). Opening the box, popping in the disc and just hearing it spin up has something incredibly satisfying for me. Though, I'm also one of those guys who prefer vinyl over CDs

I understand the feeling of authenticity that comes with having the physical copy, though it's not anymore something I personally value much. Extra swag is naturally nice, such as world maps, soundtracks, etc.

Oh yes, and I forgot to mention that I dislike the support itself: never liked the CDs or DVDs, and the computer I'm currently using doesn't even have an optical drive. The very few times I really cannot go around needing a disc, I use an external drive.

Me either. I like being able to burn CDs and listen to them in my truck or at work -w-

Also on the no CD drive, I wouldn't give that up either. If you ever want to reinstall your OS or something it isn't always that easy to make a bootable USB, and fast. Sometimes I find myself waitin' on the WinXP ones for ages. So what, you mount your ISOs or somethung?

i agree on the usb thing. i still haven't figured it out. so disks are my only option.



currently watching schindler's list. it's making me just heartsick at all of this. i mean, documentaries are one thing, but to see the experiences of the whole thing is just horrible...
