So, the stuff for my Amiga finally came in. Unfortunately, I have learned the Q key on Twinkle is not working, as well as the 1 key right above it :[

I'll test the other one to see, but I might have to go through with the plans of merging the two Amigas I have into one, to have a 100% functional system

Chocofreak13

that sucks. too bad it's not newer, or else you could part it out. :\

@Kari: It sucks that you had the argument, but at least you made up in the end? :/ I kinda know how that feels, not so much the arguing thing (dad and I rarely argue, dunno if that's good or bad...) but sometimes it feels like dad discounts my emotions or won't validate them. Like, if I'm scared about something or try to have a conversation with him about my (very likely) mood/anxiety disorders, he'll kinda shrug it off or say that depression/anxiety/etc is something everybody goes through. (Way to trivialize actual disorders.) Or if I'm happy about something or proud of an accomplishment, he'll just kinda ignore it, like it'd kill him to give me a freakin' "good for you!" or some other form of validation every so often. >:/

@Stew: Did you catch that pandemic cold that's apparently sweeping the nation by storm? : (

Nichi

#17988
@Kari: Indeed :\

Although, Twinkle is now reassembled with components from the half-working Amiga I had in storage. I'll go over details in a different thread :3
Also, there's some sort of chip inside the motherboard labeled as "OSC" -w-

I figured out how to change Windows XP's default General MIDI soundbank (.dls) to something else, say an OPL3 soundbank.

Step 1: Download a soundbank from the internet
Step 2: Save it into C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers
Step 3: Go to Run, and type 'regedit.exe' and click OK.
Step 4: Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectMusic
Step 5: Change the value of GMFilePath to the DLS file you downloaded e.g OPL3.DLS.
Step 6: Save, close programs using MIDI, restart(?), and listen to your favourite MIDIs with something else instead of that awful Roland VSC.

Cockleshell

I had a dubstep party with my mom while we were wrapping presents.
Oh yeah. Dirty dubstep and electro 80s.
What's in your hand, back at me. I have it, it's an oyster with two figures of your favorite Touhou characters. Look again, the figures are now vials of the Hourai Elixir. Anything is possible when your waifu smells like Old World and not a man. I'm a frog.

Nichi

@Cockle: Sounds fun :3

So, I unwrapped gifts with my dad's side of the family (I was genuinely surprised, as we haven't done this since 2009). I received a mini screwdriver set (Which I definitely needed), a cookie sheet (Feels like a gag gift, but when I move out, I'll definitely put it to use; as I typically use cookie sheets a lot when cooking), a $25 Visa gift card (Quite nice), and the best gift of all is a small jar filled with assorted coins (It's nice and heavy; no idea how much is actually in here, but my bro-in-law took a wild guess at it being at least $20)

Bella

@Leaf: Yay ^^

@Cockle: Sounds like you're having fun in spite of your cold. :)

@Pent: Ooh, nice! Practical gifts are always good, money too. :D

I just got back from dinner at the Chinese-Japanese restaurant, before that we went to Christmas Eve service at the local Congregational church.

I've got a box of coins I call my coin 'collection'.  There's some Irish, Italian, British, Canadian money in there along with some old silver coins my great-grandmother left me and a couple dollar coins of different ages.

As per illness: No, it's just my allergies being a bitch and me not wanting to take meds and fall asleep/a slight throat thing.

Bella

Take the meds anyway? Find a brand that has fewer side-effects? Drink something caffine-y to compensate? :/

And now I'm worried again about the nasty musty RV bathroom killing you (or at least irritating your allergies). : (

Nichi

@Bella: Indeed ^^

Which, for the curious, said jar had nearly $24 in it >:3

Chocofreak13

@bella: it's a sucky thing that people thing depression/anxiety is a "phase" or "just being overdramatic". that heart to heart i had with her a couple weeks ago at least let her know that i have some serious issues that she can't ignore anymore. but the fact that she's fallen back on ignoring them is only making it worse.

awesome on the food, i'm semi-jealous since now you've got me craving crab rangoon. the dinner party i went to was nice, though. (and funny thing is, we went out to try to go to wal-mart [it was closed], and the only places open were a gas station convenience store, the local convenience store, and like 3 chinese places.

@pent: kickass man, hope twinkle remains at least semi-functional. ^^;;

nice on the presents, too. unexpected gifts are always nice. -w-

@leaf: you really seem to like midis, but why? and why the process, were you trying to change the system sounds? cause there's much easier ways to do that.

@cockle: awesome. 8)

@stew: i keep a few coins in my lipstick case. a british pence, a larping coin, a wheat penny, a year of the monkey coin, and this coin that was from some honor society in high school (it was made to hang off of something, and it has a lamp on it). i also have a wheat penny collection. (which, my latest addition to it is interesting; it's the shiniest wheat penny i've ever seen.)

and i agree with bells, suck it up and take your meds.

dinner party was better than expected! also saw my cousin's wedding DVD, which there were 2-3 pictures of me on there cause we left early. xD

also opened pent's gift. love the scarf, but the keyblade necklace really is nice, given that i've been wanting one for awhile to recapture the magic of my old one. ^^

oh, and merry fucking christmas. 8)

So, mom has been very annoying since last night >_<

Like, it all started when I was trying to finally put my socks in the dryer last night...and she's all "get out of my way" because her damn dog pissed on her blanket and she wanted to get it washed right now (Which happens a lot >_>), and it felt like she doesn't care that I need my clothes washed for work in a few days because she's far more important than me. Then, this morning she got annoyed at me telling her I needed to change my socks because water got spilled on them, even if she'd get angry at me if I didn't tell her because I'm "taking too long" to get ready (And, as always, she refused to go on ahead without me and I'd go there in my truck, because that makes us "less of a family" or some bullshit), had to go on her annual "kids these days are lazy fatasses" rant (Because she didn't see any kids out riding their sparkly new bicycles, this automatically means they're hiding inside with their iPad. Basically, the rant of every last person in this shitty town that's over the age of 45), yelled at me when I asked her to repeat herself because she was saying something about pie and I didn't hear everything she said because she started speaking to me while she was on the front porch before she even had the door opened completely enough to get inside (This is something she's bad about), and then she started complaining about how it smelled like something was burning (Don't know what it is, but she pretty much ignored everything I suggested as a possibility. Why do I even try?).

At last she's leaving me alone...for now. She's really pissed me off to the point I don't think I want to make a pizza for her this weekend; she can get a frozen one at the store instead.

Chocofreak13

dude, don't. don't do shit for people that behave like brats. if she's gonna be like that let her get her own damn pizza.

Indeed. I'll just say we got busy at work, so I didn't have a chance to make it
