And that's why i don't want sp3, i mean what sick bastard would think of such a thing, disabling your HARDWARE when you put in a new processor?!?! Great so no-one can ever upgrade his p.c. anymore, thanks microshitheads, you just pissed off the entire hardware-market...

Added after 2 minutes:

And i do hope you (M$) read this, because you do really suck and i would assume that you're capable of spying in on internet-traffic of your customers -oh sorry i meant slaves...

I so hope you go bankrupt, M$, do me a favor and make it quick...

This is planned obsolescence at it's most insidious. If you think about it...it's really a very sly move. Making the OS less tolerant to hardware upgrades, and thus shortening the lifespan of the computer, making a switch to a new machine inevitable...I dunno if I'd want to buy XP SP3 install disks...oh well. I guess XP is going to die with my computers -___-

Oh wau, Smokey...that's some M$ bashing, there. You make me seem like a M$ hugging Windows fangirl. XD

Smokey

Well, i've tolerated a lot of dastardly trickf from them but this is where i draw the line; NO-ONE TOUCHES MY HARDWARE!!!

It's just too bad that the gaming industry doesn't see how evil M$ is and that they don't start incorporating Linux compatibility in their games, because that would cost M$ thousands, if not millions of customers...

That would show them, and the gaming industry wouldn't be phased at all, since they can still sell their games...

The problem, of course, would be that the target market of linux gamers is diminutively small in comparison, and few, if any, wants to go through the trouble of fixing up a new partition or computer for the sole reason of using linux.
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

Aurora Borealis

No longer allowing for you to be able to upgrade components of your computer is one of the stupidest things ever! ;030

YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

Smokey

And there we have my point; IF a gamer (especially hardcore gamers) would have to choose between not upgrading their pc or creating an extra partition, i would think they'd gladly make that extra partition...

But then again, then there's the crowd of not-so-l33t gamers who don't even know what a partition IS...
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

Smokey

Well if they can install WindBlows, they can install Linux, I've seen Linux installers being more automated and user friendly than MacroSucks ones...
Plus if you add all the rebooting Wimpdoze does for fun, how bad is a Linux install then?

God sp3 pissed me off...

I think a lot of people just get used to what they're using, and don't give much thought to what commercial implications it may have...and they don't want to take the time to install and learn to use a new system.

Like Nejin said...not-so-l33t gamers probably outnumber the tech savy ones 10 to 1 ;)

Smokey

Thousands of ppl out there can't install Windblows either, they have a computer store or a friend do that for them...
And i'm sure that ppl in a caomputer store know how to install Linux...

So that shouldn't be a problem....

Awww well,... at least Smokey and Nejin might've seen it before it vanished....  ;__;

Probably best to repost this article:

Smokey

Yes, I've seen the post, and it was indeed a good one...
I had to repost the post above you, too...

Oh, well...At least the forum still works...

You wanna know what happened to our posts? Steve Ballmer f*#king killedâ,,¢ them!

But really, that was an interesting article. Very well put; open source itself doesn't really interest consumers, they have to explain how it can benefit them. An article I found on the same site:

http://itmanagement.earthweb.com/entdev/article.php/3744946/When+XP+Expires+does+Desktop+Linux+Shine?.htm

XP to Linux: Avenge me!

Techno the fox

What's going on in here? Something about vanishing posts? Hmm, strange. Especially how posts in an anti-vista topic would vanish. Ah well.

Anyway, I may not make as many trips to this topic as I used to, mostly because of the fact that I'm not against vista.  Having been swayed by my laptop that currentlty runs vista. My only regret is that I have Mario is Missing (Pc edition) and I can't play it because vista doesn't support full-screen dos applications. But all my other programs still run fine. Things like CDI emulator and RPGMaker XP still run in compatibility mode for XP SP2.
