Tsubashi-kun, that was one of the better reads I've had lately. Lulz were had, and also seriose tiem moments were good. Keep it up. -w-

LEGO has robot-building functionality now, and you can create some really interesting things with that... ;010

QuoteWord from the Wise to all Ye Not Eternally Attached to a Keyboard: if you ever plan on building a garden pond, be ready to dig up a LOT of dirt. T_________T;

*C-chan flops on the ground zapped of all energy*

That I'll keep in mind.

QuoteFirst, a small article about my belove eComStation-tan and how WONDERFUL her new release is. ^___^
And anyone who disagrees with that statement shall get his kneecaps busted by a small, angry, black pig. ^_____________^

http://www.ofb.biz/safari/article/459.html

Yay, OS/2 lives! Vicariously through eCS!

QuoteAnd then finally another example of why DRM isn't something that can be brushed aside as trivial, especially if you're an honest, law-abiding citizen:

http://blog.wired.com/music/2008/04/microsoft-pulli.html

For cripe's sake, who'd buy music from an M$ run site? I mean...that's asking for trouble.

QuoteIn other news, I finished trying Ubuntu 8.04 and am happy to see some much needed refinement (plus the new heron wallpaper is kinda neat). ^^

Plus I noticed that the Ren'Py Visual Novel game engine is available in their repos -- naturally, I'm clamoring to get the same uploaded to PCLOS as it'd be a PERFECT chance to make some quick OS-tan inspired educational games. ^.^

That's good news...I'll probably try out 8.04 when the stable release comes out.

QuoteI'm very sorry for not being more trustworthy; I said I'd be around more often and the nigh on dropped off the face of the earth! Gomen nasai.
If it makes me seem less pathetic, my only excuse is history finals. Never was good at history ^^'

Hah...the tough subject for me is literature. I love reading, but I'm not so great and the writing part of it (essays, book reports, etc.)

Now, something like physics I'm strangely apt to O___o

QuoteUnfortunately I've got an unusually large project with an excruciatingly near deadline at work, so I'll be in and out at best. With any luck I should (hopefully) be able to start popping in more often. Then again, I think I already used up all my luck for the entire year yesterday ^.^'

I must apologize to anyone who's birthday I missed, and even worse, I can't remember who since I forgot to back up iCal when I upgraded to leopard (b4k4 TsuTsu ^^')

Oh well....I hope you can drop by when you get the chance!

QuoteThanks for the links, senpai. I don't read/watch/listen to any news very much, so it's very nice of you to point out the best ones. I especially enjoyed the explination of the Doctrine of Insufficient Adulation Syndrome. ^v^

Wow, that's a great article...and so true...

QuoteAnd to not be too off-topic, if I had the money and/or time, I would totally do this ^v^

LOL! C-Chan, you gotta do this!

I have to drop off my own find here...

MULTICS LIVES! Maybe...

http://sourceforge.net/projects/h6180/

The hopes and prayers of Multicians and hard-core vintage OS enthusiasts may soon be answered. They're building a Honeywell DPS-8 emulator; this means one thing, Multics is getting really close to being brought back to life...!

Smokey

Yeah, that would be a nice adition to the library  (Lie berry, lie! LOL) of emu's i've got... ;010

Oh, btw, physics only requires a bit of interest and a little effort...
It's really cool though, it provides a nice step-stone to quantum physics and quantum mechanics... (this from a guy who wanted to be a quantum physician when he was 9... Most normal people don't even know the term "quantum physics" when they're 9)

Well, this is only going to be available for *nix systems...but I'm really hoping that this'll work and they can do something with that Multics source code.

Perhaps we'll see shell account sites springing up like with the VMS and RSTS hobbyist programs...

Haha...I remember watching TV shows about parallel universes and theoretical physics and stuff when I was quite young...the whole idea never really bothered me much. I've known people who were like, "oh man that hurts my head just to think about!" But I've thought that sorta stuff makes sense O___o

So, I gave Debian a try. Well, first I downloaded the install CD via a bittorrent; after a failed installation in my VM (it never got past the software install stage, somthing about no swap partition being created), I went back and downloaded the liveCD.

I don't want to jump to conclusions just yet, but....I think this my new favorite distro. As for boot-up and speed in general, it's about on par with Ubuntu; even with the more resource-intensive KDE it runs fine in the virtual machine, and it comes with a great collection of software (I was having fun with the star charting program, as well as the Latin quiz program...haha). Not to mention KDE is really nice looking, too.

In sorta off-topic news...woot! DEC is responsible for the first spam mail:

Freespire is Debian based too, and i like that one too...

Fufufu!!  This must've been really good news for you, Bella-sama.  With all the knowledge you've accumulated, you're practically a Multician in everything but trade!  ^.^

For some odd reason, install CDs are a tad more problematic than live ones.  Seems strange, but I reckon it's due to the limited number of drivers loaded for the temporary install environment.  Since live environments require more love and care, they load more drivers that actually get things up and running.  ^^'

Hmmm,... well it is true that the Debian I tried was running on XFCE or Gnome, but could've sworn it was a little faster.

But hey! Ya gotz a fast KDE system in your VM, so can't be all bad.  ^-^

Plus technically-speaking, the Debian repositories are a lot larger than the Ubuntu ones, so there's bound to be no shortage of fun applications to play with.  ^__~

Now we know Bella-sama has gone hardcore if she starts using Debian!  ^.^

Yep,... no wonder all the Berkley people were so happy to kick all the DECs, out once UNIX-sama arrived.  ^_________^

As of yesterday (or something, I dunno, but something like that),Windows XP SP3 is available for download and automatic updates for anyone using Windows XP with SP1 or above. Cumulative and stuff.
This Capulet is downloading it right now with hijinks, so I'll see what happens when my computer restarts, or something.
Anyone else tried it, or have thoughts?

I believe they call that a Multicial Theorist :P

But really, I see myself as something of a palentologist when it comes to old OSs. Sure, I love researching them, reading about their history and contributions to our modern OSs... I can't say I'd want to work with them, though :P

Worse. Medaphor. Ever.

I know the Zenwalk LiveCD never worked on the VM, but the install CD did.

Hawhawhaw...but really, it does seem that Debian has more pre-installed applications than Ubuntu (not that that matters too much, what with the package managers and all).

QuoteYep,... no wonder all the Berkley people were so happy to kick all the DECs, out once UNIX-sama arrived. ^_________^

Still trying to think of how I can work a "spam" reference into the DEC-tan's backstory XD

Who wouldn't love DreamLinux! It's like OS X, without all the rabid fanboys! XD

I ain't going near that, no sir. O__O

^This is likely just a rumor, but I've heard that XP SP3 would be badly-done on purpose as a ploy to get even more people to switch to Vista T__T

Smokey

It's probably packed full of "ooh-i'm-gonna-tell-M$-what-you're-doing-onyour-pc-stuff", so i'll stick to sp2... :D

Funny, I was under the impression that SP3 had already been out for a while (since the IT guys at work made me update) but apparently those were public betas ^.^

Doesn't windows update do that already?[/sacasm ^v^]

But I think the PC World article sums it up best

Quote from: "PC World"More dubious is the [new] Windows Product Activation update, which makes the XP installation process more Vista-like. This means you’ll no longer be forced to input your Windows product activation key during installation (although you’ll still have to do so within 30 days or your OS will stop working).

However, it also means Windows XP will be tracking your hardware configuration in much the same way that Vista does, which could lead to your computer being disabled in the event that you change out fundamental components such as your motherboard or processor.

Added after 4 minutes:

All in all I think it's quite the anticlimactic "Final Service Pack!" Some Bug fixes and networks tweaks, not much you notice unless you are looking for it ^-^
