You needn't tell me. I worked at a refubishing company once where we showed people that PII's were still good computers even if they were 2 generations old :D

Sorry it's been a while since i heard that name... I remember when we used to make fun of it's incompatibility (untill we got our school lappies, then we even started appreciating Packard Hell :D)

Main: Compaq Running Vista Home Basic
Secondry:LG (Cough Cough) running Windows 200 NT (WTF indeed)
Others: 2 laptops running XP Home and another laptop with vista.

Smokey

Don't mock Win 2000!
She has proven that windowses can be a lot more stable than they were... ;010

WinNT 4.0 was more stable: No drivers, no software and thus no crashes! :p

Yes, but 200 was -eerm is- more suited for home computers, since it supports gaming and WiFi. And if i'm not mistaken NT4 didn't support USB2.0...

PROTIP: USB2.0 support didn't come until XP SP1.
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

Kami-Tux

Windows NT 4.0 did not support USB at all.

There you go, 2000 is better than NT4... :D

I thought NT4 was less bad than 2k because it ran scaringly stable (for a Windows). 2k didn't.

Well, i never ran NT4 myself. It was implemented on my old school's network along with Novell, wich was a real disaster...
I came in contact with 2000 after upgrading from win98. Compared to that 2k ran so stable i came to miss the BSODs i frequently got and i had to install the BSOD screensaver to make it feel like a windows again...

Well, NT is probably the closest "descendant"of VMS, so it had better be stable  ;010

I guess the NT based OSs got farther and farther away from this, from very stable 2k, to above average XP, to so-so Vista -___-

I've never used Windows NT4, but I have used 2000 and haven't had any problems with it and XP runs well most of the time. I have also used Vista, but only for a few minutes to take a look at its really fancy GUI (not enough time to see how well/poorly Vista really does)

Smokey

Hmm, it seems like M$ OSes are getting worse over time (like vinegar), while the Linuses and Unises are getting better at age (like Wine)... :D
