What computer/OS are you using?

I finally found my floppy disk for installing 3.1-sama. I just want to drop by at my school (when school starts again) and install Windows 3.1 on one of their Windows 98 computers and see what happens. But chances are, I probably won't do it. >_<

Try it on a home computer first. Nevertheless, it's a cool idea. Fear the reverse installing!

I probably won't do it since they say that they moniter what the students do. But they certainly don't do a good job of it. >_< If that was true, then they would know that their Windows 98 computers were filled adware and spyware. *sigh*

Just installed 3.0 under Dosbox again.

I'm scrounging around for 3.1-sama, not sure if I still have her. Though maybe some of my friends do.

Oh, that's common place for Windows 98, so they probably assume that's just a feature.... *chortle chortle* ^__________^

But yes, as AmigaBob said, consider downloading DOSBox instead:

Like with Virtualbox, you can try out all those old programs (or in this case OSes) without fear of blowing up your computer (and within the relative safety of your MCE-tan). ^^

BTW, with Virtualbox, you can do the same but with modern OSes (e.g., Linux). ^.^

Lets hope not! But really, I think my school should replace their 98s. I think they have all done their time. But what's really funny is that their 98s log on faster then Saseko-sama does. XD

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite L35 notebook with a dual boot of Ubuntu Ultimate Edition 1.4 Gnarly Gnome and Windows XP Home Edition. I also sometimes run Damn Small Linux from a flash drive.

Just got my new laptop (Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo 1526), and even though I didn't really want it with an OS, it came with XP Media Center.

Speaking about which, i just finished racking up the orders for my new DELTA, and it's gonna be landing on about 3500-4000 SEK (which, i believe, is somewhere around 500$, i believe) excluding the processor, which I foolishly enough bought this spring; if I'd just waited a few months I'd had a Q6600 or something...instead of that E6400 i'll have to settle with now. Ah well, I guess i'll just have to wait for the Nehalem processor ranges to come out next year, and buy a glorious TRUE quad-core processor. ^^
Unless i change something in my lineup of components, here's what DELTA is going to land around...

Intel "Conroe" E6400 2.13GHz CPU
2GB Corsair DDR2 PC6400 RAM
Radeon X1550 512MB GPU
ECS NForce650i SLIT-A Motherboard
Samsung T166 SATA-II 500GB HDD

plus some old stuff that i already have like optical units and wireless card. Good thing, the Conroes are VERY overclock-friendly, and the ECS motherboard I've chosen is cheap as a brick but still good at it.

Oh, and also...
I'm helping my big brother out with setting up a new hard drive on his PC, and things have gone a bit wrong. Meaningly, the hard drive with the XP he was using on died just when he got it for his B'day, and the motherboard is protesting like a flagman in the mud. Meaning, nothing works the way it should. Neither of the optical units work to load an OS disc through, and it's just going REBOOT, REBOOT, REBOOT all the time. Frankly, we're getting quite tired of it all, and while my bro had some work to do I'm still home to fix it all. We figured it SHOULD work to set up the other old IDE drive into my computer, and then install some sort of rescue OS through it, like puppy (he did, amazingly enough, give in to using linuces for this after some pressure from me. windows fanboy, that guy) and use that to partition and install XP on the computer, but I'd never trust myself on that, so to say...
therefore, i cry "Halp plz!" and turn to ye, just to check what capital fails i've done before i start screwing with parts.

Yeah, that scenario sounds a lot like what I went through with my bro this weekend (small world, eh?), only his old HD was still functional to an extent.

In any case, let me review the game plan in case I'm understanding this correctly.... ^^

Sorry, C-Chan, seems i skipped a bit of parts. ^^
1: Dead drive is IDE 12 gb and DEAD. Like, BURNT dead. So no recovering.
2: The new primary drive is a (somewhat risky setup, if you ask me) SATA drive on 250 gb, but since my brother's comp doesn't have any SATA ports he's wired a cable from the master IDE port to a PCI port and has a card simulating the SATA port. The old 150 gb IDE drive is the slave.
So we're hoping to get the OS on the new drive...'n stuff.
