What computer/OS are you using?

And, 3.1-tan was always nice to play around with. Yeah, I ran it in Pentium 3 1.4GHz PC - it ran pretty good!! Except for graphic driver - it was annoying so I had to make device driver out of Win98 graphic driver - after all, it's still wonderful to play with vintage OS!  ;001

QuoteMy family's first computer was actually a Mac! ^.^ My parents told me I was always on it XD Then, my parents bought 3.1-tan in '94. I was about 3 years old. X3 Broke the floppy drive when I was 7 when I shoved a Pokemon card in it. That was a stupid idea. XD

Tsk tsk tsk... ^.^
On the other hand, maybe you were clairvoyant enough to know that, in the not so distant future, floppy drives would be next to useless..... ^___^
I never knew much as a child about computers. I used to think they were toys. XD Hell, I didn't even know what a floppy drive was until my mother told me!

I ran Windows 3.0 with on a 286 @ 10 MHz with 640kb RAM.   Didn't run all to bad, but I had no real use for it tho. Most of the stuff I used ran in DOS anyways.

(Is there a 3.0-tan by the way, I don't think I ever saw one).

C-Chan

There will be,... although it's just gonna be a genkier 3.1-sama in a much younger form.  ^^;

Bella

Hey, come to think of it why is there no 3.0-tan?

: /

Dr. Mario

Microsoft had to delay it, though... T_T It wasn't until 1992 when they released this OS... <_<
>_> Devo-style 3.0-sama? <_<
Anyways, Devo was popular in Japan (I wasn't sure, though - but for their bizaree personalities...)

Don't laugh but...

I've never heard of Windows 3.0...

Bella

A question for C-Chan...

Would Win 3.0-tan be a separate -tan from 3.1? And would she be a Vintage-tan :D

Tsubashi

I'm sure Senpai has a much better answer to that, but I know the idea has been bopped around, since the two are essentially entirely different OSes.

Plus, since Senpai just barely said 'there will be,' I'd bet that they are seperate ^-^

Just a guess

Dr. Mario

Yes, both are different OS. -_-
3.0-tan has no network supports, while 3.1 does.
And, 3.0-tan has only fewer programs and somewhat flaky i386 CPU controller (the one that manage RAM sizes - I found that it can use up to 2GB as long as CPU's chugging at 32-bit mode - it crashes on Long Mode...)
while 3.1 has better softwares.

No problem, few people have heard the history of Windows past 3.1-sama.  It's actually intentional,....

...Cause before 3.1-sama, there are a whole bunch of other systems and little inconvenient details that the Big M doesn't want you to remember.  ^_________^;

Hence the reason I claim their silence to be quite conspiratory.  ^.^

I'm actually in the process of drawing her with 2.0-chan as we speak (well not really, cause there's other commissions work on.)  ^^;

I definitely will NOT make her a separate OS-tan, as I stand firm on my decision to just make her a younger version (circa 5 years old) of 3.1-sama (separating 3.2-tan is okay since she's just 3.1-sama's cute Chinese alter ego).  ^.^

However, although it's too late now given the impossibility of me working on a manga, I did intend her to be alomst like a completely different character.  3.0-tan would be her as a happy, vibrant, bubbly, playful and hopeful young girl, with a loving family who she adored beyond imagining.  However, she would've also been very susceptible to suggestions, never questioning any dirt Father may have given her about OS/2-neechan and always taking to heart any praise of her own superiority.  Encouraged to be naive and loyal, she would work hard to make Father proud, even if it meant committing to some "reeducation" and ultimately turning a blind eye, a deaf ear and shut tongue to the dissolution of her family.  In that sense, I sorta wanted to create a rhyme and reason as to why she's so emotionless now, given what she's tried to hide for well over 15 years.

I also wanted to make it understandable why she and 2.0-chan can never appear together comfo
rtably at this time, since it would lead to a very awkward and sad confrontation.  If you feel daring enough to bring a comparison of Anakin and Darth Vader, you wouldn't be 100% wrong (although I would definitely recommend a better analogy... ^^; ).

Dr. Mario

You got the point, C-Chan. (Good pig! *pat on head*)

Ah, I see. So it was intentional. I was little at the time so I really don't really remember anything before 3.1-tan (Except for the DOS).

Dr. Mario

Well, I haven't seen Windows 3.1 until I was 12 years old.. ;_;
I now have a copy of Windows 3.1 on my computer - zipped up nicely.

And, as for me, I could remember OS/2 when I was 1 years old. (it was 1989 when my family had the first computer - it was sucky, it had Intel 386SX.)

I still have the floppy disk for installing 3.1-tan. XD

Hmm... That might of been the computer my parents bought in 80s. Of course, I'm not too sure about the actual year since i wasn't born until 1991. ^^; Too bad my parents got rid of it. I would of loved to see it. ;-;
