QuoteExcuse me...let me type up a more genuine response...

Hmmm,....  '___'

WAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!  >v<

Well, also, Hacchan, Secchan, etc. had friends who were virus/malware magnets, like older IEs At least now some of newer Windows-tan run with a slightly better crowd (like Firefox-ko and the new IE, which is *supposedly* fairly safe)

...And also suspsiciously looks like a cross between Firefox and Opera.....  ^^;
How does that source code look like again....?  ^v^;

*tries to take a peek*

*gets tossed away by M$ security*

I'm sure you can get Firefox (or at least Seamonkey) working on Hacchan or maybe Hagchan, but definitely back in the day, the best defense was isolation.

(AOL counted as isolation, since they conned millions of people for years into thinking their 2400baud modem-UNfriendly website WAS the internet....  ^^;).

QuoteeComstation...cool, OS/2-san's clinger-on little sis XD
Too bad OS/2 isn't open source, for one it'd probably improve it a ton, plus I'd love to run a machine on the disowned M$/IBM OS.

I hear that, sister.  ^__^
In part it's M$ fault that OS/2 (and by association, eCS) can't be open source, since it does still have some M$ code hidden around there somewhere.  A smarter company COULD just release a stripped down version of OS/2 to the community, but they still refuse to do so for whatever reason (I'm assuming so as to not interfere with their Linux support).

But currently eComstation's life blood does come from community efforts, so it's natural to assume that, given full liberty of their code, you can instantly have thousands of willing volunteers to turn eComStation into a Vista killer.  ^___^

(And as with Solaris, there would be efforts to fuse the former proprietary technology with all the best stuff developed for GNU/Linux).

QuoteQuiet...! I think Homeko's listening!

I'm surprised Beryl can run on less than Vista's Flip...

Again, community effort,...

M$ has an "I Scratch Your Back, You Scratch Mine" relationship with hardware manufacturers, so it's in their best interest to force you to buy modern cards.  Linux is maintained by thousands of volunteers content to work on sub-standard graphics cards, so naturally THEY have a vested interest in making Beryl work for them....  ^___^

End result is that Beryl is quite smooth and snappy even on comparatively-old cards.  -v-

QuoteShe's my OS's crazy, Yaoi-drawing pervert after all, and don't you forget it!  (<-- I love that emoticon)

I'm working on coloring a pic based off of that one.

Waaah!  Can't you get someone a little less perverted?  Like, say, 2K-tan....?  ^___^

Oh wait a sec,... let me think that through again.... -v-;

QuoteThe Unixes are kind of hard, because they're all smart, powerful, knowledgeable, etc...Aside from the horribly-unique-on-her-own SCO-tan, I think looking to the Unix-tan in question's company and their history, motto, etc. is a good way to pick up "color" to distinguish them.

Don't forget that the louder the bark, the weaker the bite....  ^__^
I for one wanted to make the Unices be smart, powerful and knowledgeable as well, but also riddled with a lot of,.............. let's just say, "attitude problems".  ^.^;

And if not attitude, then certainly minor bouts of insanity.... -v-

You know...... like with REAL rich people....  ^____^;

QuoteBTW, I'm thinking of doing a comic. It's a surprise what it's about, but I'm going to need an OS-tan that's particularly bad or unknown as a gaming OS Maybe some vintage-tan, or a really obscure, terrible at gaming Linux distro-tan...

Oh, that's easy,... ORIC-tan.  ^v^;

She's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO obscure, I never even got a chance to list her on the Binteji Renmei roster.  ^.^;
Despite a cult following now, she was the kind of toy PC/gaming system that a parent got his/her kid when he/she couldn't afford a Commodore 64 or even a ZX Spectrum.

You're gonna have oodles of fun with that ol' girl.....  ^____^

QuoteSince my compaq is practically running under two OS's (though one's just from liveCD.)

Hacchan is so greedy.....  ;___;

*hears Puppy-chan's whining and yelping in the distance*

*heart breaks*

QuoteCheetah-tan and Homeko:

Gyaah! the unacceptable pervert is holding hands with my PERFECTLY-acceptable pervert!  ^0^
HALT!!!  SECURITY!!!!  ^-^

Hehe,... nah, it's fantastic, and certainly quite the looker.  ^___^
More so Cheetah-sama than the Home, and not because of my obvious bias, but rather that her left leg is too short compared to the other one you drew for her.

But no matter,... that just helps enhance Cheetah-sama's grace and beauty,... *sigh*  ^v^

I feel like playing with her ears....  *siiiiigh*  *v*

*stares*

Geez, I hated AOL...

Oh. That's why they can't. I'm sure M$ would hate having an OS that they and IBM repeatedly try to get rid of come back and bit them on the butt, Vista-wise ;)

QuoteAnd if not attitude, then certainly minor bouts of insanity.... -v-

You know...... like with REAL rich people.... ^____^;

LOL! That would explain some of the Windows-tan's attitudes then...

Heehee, I'll get to design a new OS-tan for my comic!
Actually two, because the other -tan is actually going to be a gaming console-tan...
drumroll...
Apple Pippin-tan! The WORST gaming console ever!

QuoteHacchan is so greedy..... ;___;

Homeko's leg is shorter because of the perspective...her foot pointing more behind her...
And remember...Homeko's my OS's perv! ;)

WOOHOO!!!  So you really are going to try and do an ORIC-tan, eh?  ^___^
I'm so happy that the spirit of the Binteji Renmei lives on in you!  ^.^

As far as character concepts go, I never had any for her, other then that she would be a fairly unassuming character (gee, THAT'S a lot of help I bet... ^^;).  The system was relatively cheap for its era, so I imagine she'd also be frugal to a fault.  -v-

And I just KNOW I've heard of the Pippin before,... I can't quite put my finger on it.  -v-

But that one should just be downright hilarious.  ^v^'

QuoteYou know, I'm working on the Hacchan/Pup-chan picture now...

In the words of InuT.... -v-
"WAAAFUU!!!!!!!"  ^0^

Standing by for swooning.  ^___^

*wags tail*

QuoteHomeko's leg is shorter because of the perspective...her foot pointing more behind her...

I kinda imagined that would be the reason, but honestly the effect was much better executed on Cheetah-sama.  Methinks that deep down inside, you want to choose a new pervert.  ^_____^

*pats Bella on back*

Daijoubu,... I understand,... I understand the feeling.  I've been through that myself at some point.  ^^
We just have to learn to accept it.... -v-

Added after 1 minutes:

BTW, that's a very luxurious avatar.  ^___^

One thing that strikes me, though, is that you've yet to use any of your drawings as your avi.  Any particular reason, or just personal preference?  'v'

I guess she should be sort of "child-like" or at least youthful, because or what you said about ORIC often being given to kids.

Here's some stuff about Pippin:

I usually change my avi according to my rank...I guess I like going though the gallery and finding an interesting rendition of a certain OS-tan, but maybe sometime I'll use one of my pix...

I've noticed that, unless the OS-tan is already a child-type, you seem to prefer drawing adult-only OS-tans.  Personal preference, or just coincidence?  ^__^

Either way, could ORIC-tan be your first original child-type, I wonder...? -v-

Mostly coincidence, I guess...(like most) I usually think of GUI-less DOS OS's as young...and some OS's, just on name alone, I think of as young (Like Puppy-chan!).

I don't know is ORIC-tan will actually be a child-type like MSDOS-tan, maybe just very youthful...?

C-Chan

*ponders*

How 'bout a compromise at early adolescence?  (like a Skuld from Ah my Goddess type)

Just strikes me as being the same physical age as C64-tan.  ^^

Bella

Perhaps...

Plus I'm working on that Linux-sama w/ Beryl pic (for a comic)...who thought designing Beryl into a costume would be that difficult XD

NejinOniwa

Maybe cuz she's usually the one that does the designing of things into costumes... ^-^

Will be back later to comment properly!  Greatabulous job so far!  ^V^

*rushes out*

Bella

Don't comment yet...hehe...

I might do more work on the detail, maybe when I put this gal into that comic...

And there's a few "hidden" metaphors in this drawing relating to GNU/Linux and Beryl...point them out if you can find them :P

EDITED: I fixed some problems with the coloring and stuff.
