Yo Bella!  Sorry for saving you for last (again)!  ^^'

But in order for me NOT to issue out another embarrassing C-chan Raincheckâ,,¢, how about I just use my search for that Apache-tan as an excuse?  ^____^'

*runs off, pretending to search diligently*

Bella

Who will win? The kickass, psycho, sorta-kinda-Unix-y-like ( http://osdata.com/oses/vms.htm ) momma of NT-san? Or the young but powerful Linux-sama, who has an army of daughters and granddaughters willing to fight for her (Except for Ubuntu-tan...I don't see her as a "killer" type...)

VMS-sama vs. Linux-sama:

The larger URL pic (click if you want to see better detail, both of the finer points and the mess-ups I made XD)

*drools plentifully*

Awww, I want,... gimme gimme.........  @v@

*shakes head back into consciousness*

Oh right, Apache-tan!  ^___^

*darts off*

Added after 11 hours 3 minutes:

*returns defeated*

Shoot, and I could've sworn it was at the gallery.  Now I wish I had saved it myself, I wonder why I didn't?  '__'

.........

Oh right, cause I didn't like it.  ^^;
In any event, that Apache-tan is long dead and buried from Waka AND Nijiura.com where I originaly saw it, so methinks I'm screw-ed.  -.-

As compensation, here's a picture I'm sure you'll love.  ^__^

QuoteGreat character---we need to see more of her! (Why do I say this after every response? XD)

Cause.............. we don't see enough of these characters?  ^v^;
For example, I like to see more of Viru-tan, but in the grand scheme of things she's still a rare character.  So it's nice to see wonderful stuff like this emerge slowly but surely:

http://ostan-collections.net/annex/Images/1179142460566.jpg

[whispering]  GO!  VIRU-TAN!!  ^__^'

QuoteIt might be a while before I master the intricacies of PS (Ooooohh...layer effects....)

Don't forget to thank Miggy-san for that.  Some of the earliest commercial paint programs w/ layering appeared on the Amiga.  Definitely an indispensable feature of any modern art program.  ^__^

QuoteI really hope that there's a Vistan for each Vista release, IE silver haired girl as Home premium, etc...makes sense...

Everything makes sense in comparison to obscure screw references and Dr Seuss color motifs.... -.-;

QuoteI'd see the Macs as the old money, then they lost all their money for a while, then they made it back (as the OS X's) with a posh and celeb vengeance XD

Except for Pu-chan,... she's so sweet and innocent, just her cuteness is enough to conquer the market.  ^____^

....

Or her Puma-chan Beam............ or that screaming bit.....  *mumbles more obscure references*  ^^;

QuoteSeriously, you callin' me a psycho? lol

*gulps*

Ummm........... no......  course not.........  ^^;
You, er, I mean SHE's just....................... chemically...................... "imbalanced"..............  ^___^;

QuoteI'll find Mech Solaris-tan if you find Apache-tan!

GYAAH!!  XvX

*collapses*

QuoteI was thinking the child would be quite small...almost toddler age. I know Apple I-sama is passed away now :..( but I suppose she would have been around to see Lisa...?

I leave that up to your artistic license.  Under my old backstory, it's just I and II, nothing more and even then II-chan couldn't get to kow her for very long.  (Remember that only about 200 or so Apple I units were ever produced.)

VMS-sama vs. Linux-sama:

Well you know my thoughts on this from before, so no sense in reiterating it.  Poor VMS-san, but certainly the whole secret Windows angle does lend a sense of drama to the scene,... otherwise, it would just be a fight between a powerful somebody versus an old has-been.  -v-

I like some of the features you added to Linux-san' clothing (especially the boots), and the red cape is so elegantly done that could easily represent Beryl going forward.  ^__^
Admittedly, though the lighting elements are good on them, the helmet and spear do strike me as just a tad weak-looking.

VMS-san thogh is gorgeous through and through, and her suit just screams Matrix right at me (minus the crappy ending).  The kickass clothing (and boots), plus the intimidating weaponry, plus the almost shark-like scowl on her face, PLUS the very familiar flowing hair style and color,.....

All that combined helps redefine the phrase "Hot Mama".  ^____^

I like it so much, as you saw I even immortalized it here.... ^.^

Same here with Solaris-tan. I assure you it's no loss :\

QuoteAs compensation, here's a picture I'm sure you'll love. ^__^

Awwwww!!! That pic is too sweet! Already faved by me! (though for someone (NT-tan) who's apparently quite a fighter, she sure does a good job of hiding it in moments like these ^_^ )

I'm not sure who to cheer on either. I guess Vistan, cause she's standing up for all our poor, virus-prone Wndows-tans!

That story would work well, as the child (as stated before) will be quite young.

QuoteI like some of the features you added to Linux-san' clothing (especially the boots), and the red cape is so elegantly done that could easily represent Beryl going forward. ^__^
Admittedly, though the lighting elements are good on them, the helmet and spear do strike me as just a tad weak-looking.

Thanks! I wasn't incredibly pleased with the spear, either...I don't really think that would be her full battle suit, perhaps just her day to day wear (or some other excuse, XD...I really love Juzo-kun's outfit :D )

QuoteVMS-san thogh is gorgeous through and through, and her suit just screams Matrix right at me (minus the crappy ending). The kickass clothing (and boots), plus the intimidating weaponry, plus the almost shark-like scowl on her face, PLUS the very familiar flowing hair style and color,.....

Heehee, the Matrix trilogy are some of my favorite sci-fi movies (as you said, minus the crappy ending [3rd movie] XD). I didn't really intend for her to look Matrix-ish, but she ended up that way. Guess it's good for a renegade fighter, eh?

QuoteI like it so much, as you saw I even immortalized it here.... ^.^

I think Linux-tan definitely will win! Just because she already has an upper hand in the picture and, well, Where is the VMS now?

Great picture! I love Linux-tan fighting!

QuoteI think Linux-tan definitely will win! Just because she already has an upper hand in the picture and, well, Where is the VMS now?

Don't be so sure...VMS-sama is in a prime position to trip up Linux-sama...Plus, she has a very long legacy of fighting behind her.

Although, as I said before, Linux-sama, though young, has had a lot of battle training. Plus she has many daughters who would be more than willing to help out. Maybe NT-san would help her mother, if only she knew her!

QuoteGreat picture! I love Linux-tan fighting!

I'm surprised we haven't seen more. Just Juzo-kun's Linux-sama vs. XP-kun, if I'm correct...

Sorry I'm late.  ^__^

QuoteSame here with Solaris-tan. I assure you it's no loss :\

*pouts*  Oh well.  -v-
But I'll probably be interested again once Solaris gets back to being a cool operating system.  ^__^

QuoteAwwwww!!! That pic is too sweet! Already faved by me! (though for someone (NT-tan) who's apparently quite a fighter, she sure does a good job of hiding it in moments like these  )

I agree, but then that's been long codified in Anime.

"All sweet demure women are warrior women in disguise."  ^.^

QuoteI'm not sure who to cheer on either. I guess Vistan, cause she's standing up for all our poor, virus-prone Wndows-tans!

Virutan for me, cause there's only one design.  I have no room in my heart for 1,342,436 designs.....  ^___^;

QuoteWhat is up with the screw comparison? Is it because M$ "screwed" up with Vista? Screwed the consumers? Screwed XP over? :..(

Well that Vistan's design has been around forever, so at the time they probably wouldn't have known that Vista Final would've been screwy.  As for it's origin, it's been a matter of huge discussion here and elsewhere, but to put it simply it's based entirely off a pun of the word "vis".

In retrospect, given how well Vista is doing, I guess it is better to support a design that's not particularly endearing.  ^.^;

QuoteThanks! I wasn't incredibly pleased with the spear, either...I don't really think that would be her full battle suit, perhaps just her day to day wear (or some other excuse, XD...I really love Juzo-kun's outfit  )

I'm all for changing Linux-sama's design a little.
All the Windows-tans do it, so what's good for the goose you know....  ^v^

Even though this one was meant as an alternative design, given the similarity of the eyes and hair one could say this is Linux-sama in her evening wear.  ^___^

Hubba hubba, and stuff.  ^o^

QuoteHeehee, the Matrix trilogy are some of my favorite sci-fi movies (as you said, minus the crappy ending [3rd movie] XD). I didn't really intend for her to look Matrix-ish, but she ended up that way. Guess it's good for a renegade fighter, eh?

Naturally naturally... ^__^
One thing I figure is that she'd want to keep her identity hidden from the Windows-tans, so at least in their presence she would wear on a mask or face cover or scarf.  And of course it would have to be kick-ass, to go with her Matrix-ish uniform.

QuoteWith Beryl, now Linux-sama has to win

Yep,... Linux-sama already has the tools to take on the past, but now it can be said she's prepared for the future.  ^___^

QuoteDon't be so sure...VMS-sama is in a prime position to trip up Linux-sama...Plus, she has a very long legacy of fighting behind her.

Poor VMS-tan is really outgunned,... ;v;

To add insult to injury, if it can be said (not inaccurately) that Linux is a Unix successor, then theoretically speaking Linux-san has a longer legacy behind her.  ^.^

QuoteI'm surprised we haven't seen more. Just Juzo-kun's Linux-sama vs. XP-kun, if I'm correct...

She's the only person outside of our group who's cared enough to draw Linux-tans.  '__'

BWAHAHAHA! Tiger-tan is not fooled by Viru-tan's cuteness! Also I like your take on Tiger-tan with her new outfit! :D

Tsubashi

Now that's what I'm talking about! Way to go Bella-sama!
I especially like Tiger-tan's choker. It's funny, but right before I saw your pic, I was examining my Final Cut box, which also bears a chrome apple.

Great work! ^v^

Thanks! I usually try to tastefully include their OS symbol somehow. And chrome apple is the symbol for Mac, if I am correct...

QuoteBWAHAHAHA! Tiger-tan is not fooled by Viru-tan's cuteness! Also I like your take on Tiger-tan with her new outfit!

Thanks Aurora! That's what makes those Mac girls smart...they don't fall for those adorable, cuddly viruses like my Windows-tans do XD

As for the outfit, I like doing different designs. I tried to keep it similar to the common version (which is very cute!).

If you look closely, though, you can see how I got distracted with the shadowing. *Must focus!*

I like that design, to be honest. It's the only one that seems to have any real widespread fan support...though the Nijura one (like pictured in the Viru-tan v. Vistan pic) seems to be catching on...

QuoteI'm all for changing Linux-sama's design a little.

That's a Linux-sama the fanboys could admire ;) I'd like to draw a dressed-up Linux-sama...maybe just a little less....skimpy XD

Her hair does look quite a bit darker in that pic, but I guess even the OS-tans sometimes dye their hair ;) (which might explain some of the red and blonde haired Sasekos)

QuoteNaturally naturally... ^__^

Quote"I'm not fooled!"

VIRU-TAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ^V^
I had a feeling a Bella-sized version was coming!!  ^__^

(And is it any coincidence that she and Tiger-sama bear a strange resemblance...? @o@)

In any event, with Viru-chan you were pretty faithful to the Nijiura version, so nothing much to say here except that she's both cute and dynamite.  She can't infect Tiger-san, so it almost looks like she's begging to be her friend at least.  ^.^
(Pu-chan would probably be fooled.... ^v^')

Tiger-sama, though, is drop-dead gorgeous.  ^v^

Well in fairness, we could also say they're too petit bourgeois to mingle with common Windows viruses... fufufu..... ^.^
(except for Pu-chan naturally -- Pu-chan loves everyone and everyone loves Pu-chan !  Praise the Power of Pu!  ^v^)

They say love blinds, so I can't see any problems with the shading.  Well, maybe that it's only on the clothes and not on the skin, but that's not much of an issue really.  -v-

QuoteWhat isn't cool about a high end server...?

Probably that there are a million other high end servers already.  -v-'
Don't get me wrong, Solaris is pretty powerful and has its bright sides.  But since it is proprietary, development on it has stagnated for several years now, to the point where it can barely best Linux in any market nowadays (especially when it requires monster hardware to run on).  OpenSolaris won't work either, since at the moment it's a fairly carrot-on-a-stick relationship.  -v-'

That's why it's very important to follow new developments with Ian Murdock's hiring,... it may take a while, but Solaris might have a small chance of pulling itself back on the limelight.  ^__^

The Nijiura design, in my opinion, is leaps and bounds ahead of the "official" one.  But like I said, wouldn't want to trash-talk that beauty, so let the Screwy Screw Girl reign!!  Mwahaha!!  ^v^

Yep.  But you think that hair is darker?  '__'
I dunno, seems about right to me.  ^__^
Besides, I've seen Linux-sama's hair alternate from purple (the color I support) to blue to gray and yes even brown (Juzo-kun).  So I'd say not to worry, dear Bella-san.  ^___^

QuoteMask, eh?...am I thinking...V for VMS? Heehee...

Even if VMS-san is not as prolific as Unix-sama or Linux-sama (damn, those girls breed like bunnies!) and doesn't have much in the way of descendants, she still has her trusty pets....  ^.^'

That's what Viru-tan does...she comes off looking like an adorable, friendly, lets say, screensaver, and the next thing you know...or wait, that's my experience XD She's trying to warm up to Tiger-san, but little does she know she's up against top-notch offensive Unix architecture!
**Starts thinking...OS-tan mediphors...**
I guess Windows-tans would be defensive, cause they're susceptible to viruses but can fend them off with the help of their company, and 3rd-party defenders. Macs and Unixes would be offensive, using smarts and avoidance to keep out of trouble. Would Linuxes be mostly offensive/with some defensive measures, because can't Linuxes catch *a few* viruses?

Maybe Saba-tan doesn't help Grandma because she's afraid of being eaten by her "pets" XD

And I stand by my ideas VMS-sama should have silver hair in her older age (due to the silver shark mascot) ;)

Random thoughts:

I wonder if the Mac-tans are like the fashionistas and trendsetters of the OS-tan world? Because, at least if you listen to the anti-Vista (or realist from some POV) folks, M$ took a lot of "inspiration" from OS X (I don't see it, BTW), when designing Vista's look. That would make for a good comic...

Hmmm....after watching a marathon until the wee hours of the night, I started thinking about doing an OS-tan Heroes spoof...featuring Leopard-tan (as Hiro)...I wonder who would be the OS-tan equivalent of the Cheerleader, though, XD
Or maybe something with several interesting OS-tans with "abilities" similar to those of the characters on the show...a split-personality (NT-san? Sweet mother/psycho), an indestructible (OS/2?), a mind reader, etc...

Does this make any sense to anyone? XD

C-Chan

Eeep.... where'd this come from?! @__@

Sorry, didn't realize you posted all this,... my bad... bad piggy.... ^__^;

I'll reply the next chance I get, promise.  ^__^

I'd do it now, but currently in the process of helping a friend: A) repair his Windows XP, B) set up his Mac OSX Tiger-san, and C) showcase the PCLinuxOS LiveCD.... ^.^

QuoteRainbow apple first, then up until OS X "Puma" wasn't it the smiling Mac face?

Nope, never was. The smiling Mac has been, and still is used to represent the finder, the graphical representation of the computer's file system. This was apples original logo, until about 1976 at which point it became the much better known Rainbow Apple. Then in the year 1999, around the time Steve Jobs came back, apple switched to it's current Chrome Scheme

QuoteI wonder if the Mac-tans are like the fashionistas and trendsetters of the OS-tan world? Because, at least if you listen to the anti-Vista (or realist from some POV) folks, M$ took a lot of "inspiration" from OS X (I don't see it, BTW), when designing Vista's look.

a) Not just anti-Vista people say this
b) If you can't see it, try virtualizing Vista on a Mac, and then place Finder next to Windows Explorer. The resemblance is uncanny.
c) While sure, Apple Zealots would love to give all the credit to their favorite company, Apple's not the only one M$ is grabbing "Inspiration" from. Unfortunately, all the little Opensource projects don't get the credit they deserve because they're more of a conglomeration.

QuoteDoes this make any sense to anyone? XD

It probably would if I had seen Heroes, but judging from implicit data, I think it would be a great idea!
