I use Debian with Awesome, so no icons

I've used Debian before, it's a nice OS! I almost like it more than Ubuntu, but use that just because most of the Linux users I know do.

ubuntu is just debian with another skin and newer software, if you can get trough the debian installer it's pretty easy to switch back and forth
