Number #4 looks like Asami from Shuffle!

C-Chan

Still say #6 is appropriate,

And GHNeko, you traitor!  ^v^'
Building your OS on top of the enemy!  ^v'
At least if you'd use Linux, you could already start gloating that you're destabilizing the M$ Empire...  -v-'

Anyway, not to get off-topic here, so time to post a dream shot.
In other words,... I - WANT - THIS - NOW...... `v'

I know I know. >.>

I have no knowledge on where to attain Linux, How to use it, What I can do on it, and have the money for it. Also, I need windows for Paint.NET which uses the .NET framework. Its one of the best FREE image editting programs out there...

Plus there are programs I have that only run on windows, and I do not know enough coding to transfer the programs to linux. Also. The best FREE hard drive I have is 6.4 GB and I think the Linux needs more than that. x.x

I dont wanna download/buy/install an old version. <.<

I would get Linux as a secondary PC because I grew up on windows, unfortunatly. But atleast it wasnt Mac. XD

C-Chan

Mwahaha!!!  ^v^

Oh dear gawds, I'm gonna have so much fun pointing you to Linux resources....  -v-

Not only are there 1000 varieties and flavors of Linux, many of which can run off a simple memory stick (even Floppy DISKS!!), but 90% of them are free!  And 100% of them use millions of varieties of applications that are GNU license, or in other words FREE!!!  ^V^

In fact, my sig and all my drawings were made with Inkscape, a free vector graphics program designed for Linux, and fixed up using GIMP at times (a free image editing program neck-to-neck with Photoshop), and used to render props in Blender (a free 3D graphics solution that is equally as capable as 3D Max -- if not for the gawdful interface... >_<)

Helps to have Broadband, but dial-up would do for some Linux distros.  ^__^

Darn, if only the great Kami-Tux were here, he'd run you through.  Diehard Linux expert who apparently has never spent a dime in his life.... ^__-

SleepyD

Isn't Kami-Tux female? ^^

Where has she been anyway?

C-Chan

....................................................................Female....?  Ã,¬__Ã,¬'

C-Chan added the following  10 minutes after last message :

BTW, GHN, my DSL line is being stubborn right now, so how about those Linux links tomorrow, eh?  ^__^

In the meantime, some more food for thought:

yeah. female.
that's what she says anyway, and I'm inclined to believe her. ^^

I know she probably said it in an earlier post, but I don't really want to lookt through all her posts.

C-Chan

Well I be damned... ^__^'

Talk about your late revelation....  -v-

I do hope she didn't decide to bail on us -- I'm still planning on drawing that Minix pic....  '__'

Whorar! I can run linux of my MP3 Player!

brougeXP22

you can run linux on an MP3 player??? ;018

C-Chan

You can run Linux off of anything, even an Xbox if need be!  ^__^
[that particular distros is called "Xebian"]

Behold the power of open-source software, my good friends!  ^v^
Where if you want something done right, you have the power to do it yourself!  ^V^

BTW, since I'm guessing you're referring to Damn Small Linux, here's her OS-tan courtesy of the Great Aurora....  ^__^

I can. o.o

My MP3 Player servers as Radio, Voice Recorder, Flash Drive, and of couse MP3 Player. ^^

C-Chan

...And now bootable OS.  ^.^

Here's some more minimalist and unique distributions:

http://www.dslinux.org/
http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Xebian_HOWTO
http://www.hacker.co.il/psp/bochs/

And here's some more of the standard [full-featured] distros:

http://en.opensuse.org/Welcome_to_openSUSE.org
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/
http://www.mandriva.com/en/community/
http://www.pclinuxos.com/news.php
http://www.freespire.org/
http://www.freebsd.org/  [not Linux, but Unix-like]

Tons more, but I'll leave Distros Watch to handle the rest.  ^__^
Should also note that I do own and use SUSE, and originally installed it on a junk computer that I bought off a friend for $20USD.  Eventually the hard drive died, so I patched it up with an old 8GB hard drive I had lying around.

Even though the Maximum Install size would have taken up 3 gigs of that space, the installation is fully configurable so you can literally check on/off all the individual programs you want installed.  The minimum install, plus a few additional programs I use, cost me less than 800MB of disk space.

So what da ya say,....  Interested in all this Linux stuff?  ^__^

It could probably help you with ideas and stuff since a lot of the source code is available for viewing.  Depending on the particular distros you play around with, you can even modify it to suit your own needs, or practice features that you might eventually want to export to GyrusHex.  ^__^
