In honour of the tenth anniversary of Multics' final shutdown, I present some related images...

The DPS-8 computer (another name for the 6180, I believe)

A quote from the site where I found these photos: "...In 1991 it happened what had to happen, the computer center decided to shut down the Multics and to scrap it. Unfortunately the machine was far too large for me to save it from scrap, since I was still living with my parents and the only money I had was from teaching students how to use and program Multics. So I had to see me beloved machine being shut down and dismantled - and to be honest - it was one of the most horrible experiences in my life. I never really got over this and sometimes I am still missing "my" Honey quite much..."

A terminal room:

And a cool patch:

Not an image, but relevant:

The Overseer is my shepherd,
I shall not get bumped.

He maketh me to handle QUITs gracefully,
He leadeth me past all error conditions.

He restoreth my stack frame.
He leadeth me into inner rings for my process's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of GCOS,
I will fear no preemption, for the Initializer is with me.
ACLs and AIM, they comfort me.

He preparest a process before me in the presence of other users.
He anointest my session with guaranteed_login,
My quota never runneth over.

Surely security and data integrity will follow me all the days
of my registration, and I shall dwell in the house of MULTICS
forever.
