7-tan(Noob's Design)(loli!)

I agree with Nuker on the evolution-vs-revolution matter. Windows 7 doesn't bring much to the table that's was not already introduced in Vista or earlier OSes. MS is just building up on what's already been there, making those thing more resource-friendly and user-friendly at the same time.

Anyways, Nuker... I saw your drawing earlier when I was about to start my own and thought "cute magical girl, oh, and heven describes her as such (yes, didn't even need to read to know what she was) wonder what can I make of it", and then started drawing. Well, this is what I made of it:

AAANYYYWAAAAAYYYS... I am going to make another drawing, want to see if I can focus on what I first had in mind. *is a damn easily distracted person* XDD

Added after 2 hours 25 minutes:

Oh, one more thing that had come to my mind in my quest for OS testing and design making. I realized people are taking to disregard Win7's theme features. Then I asked myself, "Why do we seem to be hellbent on making a static character? We have the ability of representing one feature of the OS as 7-tan's ability to be visually diverse, and with ease... and we don't take it!"

So this is what I am trying to say... besides giving her a "standard" look, 7-tan should be drawn wearing different kind of clothing more often than done for any of the other MS-tans.

Update: Aparently, that design I made had stuck within my mind. I actually made two or three more drawings that had not changed from the the one I posted above. Here's the latest:



Now, on this I think I might have not done much to make her look like any of the Vista more than I did to make her resemble one of the 7-tan references I had. I want to incorporate both Chivistan and "Screw Vista" (forgot her name) into the mix, to spice it up a notch... and see if something good can come out of it. lol

Oh, one more thing... how should I go about the "7" in order to let people know she's 7?

Anyway, for 7, draw 7's on open areas like belt, arms and shiz.

Actually, I had used that concept as my main reference... I liked the one a lot. lol I may keep on making changes to the design, though. Maybe use similar color schemes , or adding things the other Vistans had ('cept for "Ninja Vistan", I've had enough of ninjas... or her for that matter) to give that "Vista with a new look" effect.

As for your suggestion. I think I will avoid drawing 7's in too many places... I think that alone marked the demise of the other 7-tan concepts.

Okay... it seems as though I am keeping this thread alive alone. Where's Nuker anyway? I feel alone now.

Anyways... because I did not feel likem aking another new thread rather than let this one die (since the OP simply "died out")... and on the offchance I get smacked for making a duplicate thread (I can create another, can I?)... I decided to simply post here again to show you guys what I've done.

First comes...

Those are Nuker's and my designs. Note that my character is facing away and there may be design changes. I think of was picturing the still undecided '-tan designs (but mine more than Nuker's)... as well as this:

Nuker's: Do you think we'll ever be chosen as the common standard?
Mine: I don't know... my artist hasn't even finalized my design. Don't be surprised if we're finally set to go by the time an official 7-tan is chosen.
Nuker's: You think?
Mine: *sigh* Stupid artist... not finishing me already.

And then goes goes this:

Yeah, 'cause I felt bored one day and started doodling... I wound up making a 7-kun (unrelated: My mom saw me drawing it and thought I was making a drawing of myself. lol) to accompany 7-tan... so... they're now a pair, unlike some other '-tans who seem to not have been given a male counterpart. Find the "7" references! lol

Ironically... 7-kun is actually more a concrete design, though colors may or may not change. I wanted to give him a more or less teenaged look. As I looked around, I noted that most '-kuns either are kids or young adults (if not actual adults or seniors). Where's the teenage love? Well, here it is now! lol

Anyways... I will post more... and hopefully come up with a final cocept based on what I've gathered from using the OS. One thing I am also thinking on, is whether or not I should also give them themed appearances (you know, to reflect the increased theme support), or just leave them with a standard attire and be done with it.

I'm here, I'm here, XD (just -very- busy: I have a bunch of exams this month, and I have to pass them, if I don't want to study all summer...)

I did some sort of remix of all the designs so far, and then added some ideas of my own, and I thought I'll post it.

Notes:

I didn't colour anything, but her outfit is supposed to be blue (the "taskbar" is still white/transparent though), her skirt is (probably) black  and that thing wrapped around her waist is supposed to be a bow/ribbon. (And yeah, I can't draw feet to save my life so I decided to skip drawing them altogether...)

LOL... Very elegant solution though... and a bit hard to believeseeing how the rest of the pic, wich is pretty good...

BTW maybe some designer shoes, perhaps? To ease the drawing a bit...

You know... I was under that same impression as well, Smokey. Feet re not really hard to draw, specially if they have shoes on them.

Nuker, try looking at your own shoes to get the general idea... also look at anime/manga so you see how are they made. Also look at the real items (either from stores or IMGs from the web) to see what they look like further. Thing is... if you have the ability to draw her head, you may as well be able to draw shoes at the least. Unless you real problem has to do with the angle of the shoes... or how to make them fit the rest of her body.

Yeah, it's the angle of the shoes that I can't seem to get right... I will work on it, and thanks for the suggestions.

We sure could... but let's see what time brings forth. I do hope that he makes it back here though.

Anyways, Nuker, befure to check on dA for images... specially the manga section, they sport a great amount of media for reference, which could prove more useful than real ones (since they have outlines and all that). But in the end, it's only something that you will eventually get right with continued practice. Also do try to show us some of your drawings with feet, maybe you are doing better than you think. The worst critic of an artist is one's self you know.

Oh, and... I was inking a new drawing I was going to show you all, but I messed up with inking. It featured Vistan, my 7-kun, and my 7-tan who isn't really finished (darn 7-kun and me designing him). I am in the process of tracing the old one and possibly re-ink it. I also plan on adding more '-tans into the mix. Anyways, I will show you what I have done so far when I am done (which is pretty soon).

Anyway. That 7-kun design is a leap forward in consistency and creativity of what I've seen out of this site lately (then again I've been in China, so I haven't seen much at all, now have I? Well... thanks... I think.

Anyways, about that using other's designs... I kinda'failed again... my inking pen got dry and I went for swatting... it wasn't pretty for my drawing... so I guess I will have to try and trace (yet again) to save my self esteem... but this time I ain't inking... i'm leaving everything for Illustrator, which I am using at school. I already am vectorizing one of my concepts as an assignment to see how much I have kept from my inkscape days (haven't done vector in months).

Anyways, if I finish my work before friday, I may be able to show it to you... in the meantime, i'll keep trying to draw other concepts (specially 7-kun) and finally getting a 7-tan done to show that I am not an undecided idiot. lol
