Just noticed that a wisdom tooth is starting to come out... I really hope there are no complications, else I gotta go to the dentist and have it removed >> and that hurts :/
Combine that with my really really HUGE fear of dentists and the outcome look even worse T_T

My wisdom teeth have been coming through for a few years, but I can't get them removed for medical reasons.

I can sympathize with you... I too am deathly afraid of dental work (though not dentists now that I visit a competent, non-profiteering doctor) and my right bottom wisdom tooth is partially emerged. The dentist says it's coming in straight and that my jaw should have enough for it to fit...

Hopefully we'll both be lucky in this respect, since I DO NOT WANT DENTAL SURGERY AND DO NOT WANT TO HEAR MORE HORROR STORIES ABOUT FRIENDS GOING THROUGH IT. Of course I don't want any surgery, but somehow the thought of having a doctor rooting around in my abdomen or chest is less disturbing than one working in my mouth... this coming from someone who's most intrusive dental procedure thus far has been a filling, and most invasive medical procedure a blood draw. (And as far as serious illnesses go, I've had pneumonia twice, but have never required hospitalization nor any medications stronger than antibiotics and fever-reducer. The heaviest [and only] painkiller I've ever used/use is ibuprofen.)

It's also worth noting that the idea of removing wisdom teeth simply because they're there is one novel to western society; in much of the world, they're left in unless a problem arises. (I'm strongly in the camp of people who believe everything and every function in the body - no matter how seemingly irrelevant or even annoying - has a use, and that nothing should be removed or altered unless it's a matter of dire necessity.)

And I can't exactly BE afraid of dental procedures or medicals in general, after my 6 years of dentists playing house with my gullet and that icky episode with the eye poking.

i've had 10 fillings, so i'm no stranger to novocaine. as for wisdom teeth, nej, like you we usually don't remove unless required, but it's also a matter of personal choice. all 3 of mine were impacted, and thus HAD to be removed for the purpose of not causing further damage to the other teeth (one already pushed one of the teeth it was next to to the side).

so today, i was woken at 9:30 to accompany my sister to milton mills, NH to pick up her boyfriend. we went up with relatively no hitches (except for a precursor where we has to stop at an autobody shop where, upon opening up the hood, we discovered that we were extremely low on antifreeze and had no coolant; the man there was nice enough to give us both for free).
the way down, however, about 20 or so minutes into the trip we had to pull over as the temperature gauge had spiked all the way to the top. after opening the hood and letting it vent, we were on out way back down the highway. we had to repeat this process roughly every 5 minutes, untill we pulled off the highway to a gas station in candia.
at the station, my sister's boyfriend (alex), who had (correctly) assumed that there was a leak/problem with the radiator (we discovered that we were leaking antifreeze when we were at alex's house about 2 hours earlier), had gone in to buy some radiator stop leak, which is basically coolant with metal flecks in it (which serves the same function as platelets in blood). upon discovering that it wasn't there, the gas station/truck stop's owner drove him to an auto supply about 5 miles down the road, where he bought some and promptly used upon return.
back on our way, we were forced to make another stop on the shoulder between the exits. noticing that we were quickly approaching the towns of auburn and chester, as well as route 121 (chester being a town we were slightly familiar with), we decided to pull off and take backroads (a smart move). after we got back on, we drove what i'd estimate was another mile and a half (roughly 5 minutes), before stopping again. we repeated this process about 2-3 more times before we stopped in front of a church. me and my sister went in to use.....stuff where we discovered we were out of coolant. using what was left of the emergency water, my sister and alex went in to the church, and, filling up 2 bottles, dumped it in and we were on our way. the (almost) holy water got us through the rest of auburn and most of chester (roughly 15 minutes). we stopped 2-3 more times in this way, each stop taking about 20 minutes (for about 5-10 minutes of driving).
after awhile, we reached my aunt's house at about 4:30 pm. she invited us in. calling my mother, she advised us to say there, and to call the tow truck. we waited an hour and a half (roughly) before my mum came around. it took about another hour for the flatbed truck to show up, at which point we followed it to the auto shop in salem (about 2 towns away). after all was said and done, it took another half hour or so for my mother to leave a note for the people with information with what was wrong, and another 20 minutes to get home.

all in all, i spent about 11 hours out today. O___O;;;

(it's on if you TL;DR, but i just felt like telling my semi-hellish tale. :\ )

yesterday after watching thor in the movies we got a call from our house keeper. a nearby block had a fire so all roads to our area were blocked.

Mine were sideways.... so yeah, they kinda had to go.  Other then that I've never had a single filling or other dental work done outside of having four other teeth removed for various reasons.

@stew: my sister had 4 teeth removed at once, once. but she has fillings, i'm pretty sure. xD
