@leaf: maybe 43 bucks where you are, ebay is declaring it free here~
@cockle: considering she was discharged, i doubt she'll stay in jail long, since they have to actually tell her she's discharged, so in effect they're locking her up because they don't understand what they just said. it'll resolve itself. (however, "soon" is a relative term...)
@alphonso: welcome back~
@pent: someday she'll be dead and you can set fire to her grave~
@nej: this has been starting to scare me for about 2 weeks now. considering Russia/Ukraine doesn't exactly have a history of being calm and rational about conflicts (or at least less than us), i am honestly seeing this as Cold War: Round II. people used to call me paranoid for stuff like this, but with nuclear war on the brink, who's the crazy one now?

you're still the crazy one, the crazy one on the right side of truth

The alarming thing however is that with the way things are going, the war has a very high risk of going hot very fast, depending on how Poland and the other Eastern European countries in NATO decide to act. And at the same time we also have the Far East mounting somewhat similar crises; The conflict over the Senkaku islands between Japan and China, the Kuril Islands between Japan and Russia, and the conflict between South and North Korea. If military conflict breaks out between Russia and the West at large - or even Russia and Ukraine in open war rather than the slow, soft takeover we've seen in Crimea - there is a very real risk of those other conflicts breaking out into military action as well, with the Russian intervention in Crimea as a precedent.

It's very hard to be the first one to declare war. If the world is already at war, however, the declaration is just a formality.

oh good fucking god lord. so to make things short, my girlfriend is being thrown in military prison over a botched discharge (on their end!) that they cannot stop hounding her over. my baby...

What the bloody fuck? I hope your gf gets out soon, that sounds really scary. :C

Also maybe this is my DERPDEHURP optimism talking but i'm like 99% sure there aren't going to be any nukes. Even if Cold War Part Deux breaks out.

I just hope MURRICA doesn't MURRICA it up and try to get involved in the fighting.

NejinOniwa

If anything, nukes are going to be the last measure of a cornered power after a long protracted conventional war; or, a desperate strategic attempt by irrational, unreasonable regents to decisively achieve their goal, whatever it may be.

I don't think we're going to see the ICBM's break out just yet - not today, tomorrow, this month or even this year.

But if the war goes long enough - and remains hot throughout, and someone with enough nukes is getting beaten badly enough - then, yes, there is a risk. Let's hope, for all of our sakes, that it's not a very large one.

i made the mistake of starting to read homestuck again and i've gotten farther than i ever have in my other three attempts at reading it through
What's in your hand, back at me. I have it, it's an oyster with two figures of your favorite Touhou characters. Look again, the figures are now vials of the Hourai Elixir. Anything is possible when your waifu smells like Old World and not a man. I'm a frog.

@cockle: *brofist* 8)

@nej, bella: the problem here is, like nej mentioned, we have NK involved. and NK is subtle like a moose. they have been ITCHING to use their newly developed tech against someone, and this could be their opportunity. and everyone knows that once one person uses the nukes, EVERYONE'S gonna use the nukes.

even without nukes, this could get really, REALLY bad. and given America's reputation for being 'MURRICA in everything, i don't see this ending without at least SOME bloodshed.

ps: as usual my mum can't take me or this seriously. all of a sudden this feels like a movie and all the kids are right and planning to save the world while the adults live in ignorant bliss

TBH I hope it doesn't get bad enough for anything to happen. I'd rather the Fallout series stay within the realms of video games, than become an actual reality

Chocofreak13

but it could, man. it could actually happen.

and that's probably what makes games like Fallout and Rainbow Six so compelling. because they could become reality with just the push of a button.

agreed, it's kinda training for those WCS... in which case I'm screwed

Nichi

True, although I'm sure nobody actually wants it to happen; as at least in my case, it makes it feel like my entire life was a waste :\

Chocofreak13

depression and apathy mean i really don't care what happens to the world anymore. yeah, it's scary and all, but at the same time, i can't do shit about it but sit back and watch. :\

So, on a lighter note, my former boss from Gamestop just got hired at Wal-Mart. It's good he was able to bounce back quickly ^^

alfonso_rd_30

Depends on his work ethic...
if he is like 79.35% of the teachers I know... God save us all!!!

if not, there might not be good, but less bad...
