Mac usage is now a pandemic. = Fact.

Windows shitting the bed = Fact.

OSX never changing, thus not completely shitting the bed = Fact.

Still going to use Windows7 forever = Fact.

Developers = Nope.avi

@Bella: I'd have to say that you sold me on getting the Mac, something I'll probably end up doing sometime in the coming months when the company should be making profits~

@Sage: I'd have to say that you've reinforced what bella was saying, I'm defiantly going for it~

Awesome. ^^

but this has been said about half the OSes they've produced...
if we know one thing about Windows, it's that they have a habit of making a GREAT OS, then a crappy OS. case in point (good in bold):
Windows 2000 -> Windows ME -> Windows XP -> Windows Vista -> Windows 7 -> Windows 8

(i could go back further, but it'd break the nice little chain i have going.)

Except Vista is >>>>>> > >   >     >       > XP

Nichi

In my eyes, Windows 8 is the first epically shitty version of Windows. Like, it's probably the first OS that I'd say is equal to RedHat 5.2

The rest of the ones everybody will constantly say "suck" (1.0, 2.0, ME, Vista). I've never had any problems out of

usoda....USODA!!!USODA, USODA, USODAAAAAA!!!!

since we're having this debate again, I GOT USED TO CRASHES. IT WAS EXPECTED OF THE OS. THIS IS NOT QUALITY OR EVEN SOMETHING WORTH CONSIDERING. NEVER COMPARE THAT PIECE OF GARBAGE TO XP AGAIN.

I was going to put "Windows8" but didn't get that 8 in there so it just came out as "Windows", I agree with your point completely~

Depends on the computer that is running it, if its not up to the correct specs than its going to suck ALOT~

Windows 8 is going to kill Microsoft in terms of user base, everyone I've talked to about it says its only good for tablets and phones~

Now then, back to finishing my company website~

Kraus actually beat me to saying this, but I'll reiterate - Vista's reputation was tarnished with MS tried to shoehorn it onto computers that were NOT capable of running it. Every user I know who runs Vista on a computer with the correct specifications has reported a good user experience, so it's probably safe to assume that it's a decent OS when it's run on the right computer.

Nichi

Exactly. Same with ME, 1.0, and other supposedly "bad" versions

stewartsage

As someone who stubbornly refused to move on from XP for years, then finally did to Vista on a computer actually able to run it (a month before 7 came out), I have no strong desire to move on to either of the new single digit Windows.  Damn interface and my inability to learn how to use it.

NejinOniwa

What was that? "Brittania rule the waves"? Sorry, can't hear you over the sound of swedish gold medals, must be a bad reception
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

Nichi

Everytime somebody says "Britannia", my thoughts go straight to "Hail Lord British!"[/ultima_series]
The Codex of Ultimate Wisdom? What's that?

@kraus: tbh i knew that you were implying recent windows, but microsoft is one of those companies realizes when they've screwed up--quickly. once it launches and bombs, they'll be quick to patch things up; i don't see 8 bankrupting microsoft any more than ME did. support will be limited or it will be reduced to being an OS for tablets and phones only. they're making too big a leap too fast, and i think deep down, they do (or will) know that.

@bella: every person outside of red (and you, ms. unix, strangely enough) i've talked to about vista has reported crap. the thing is, they put it out too fast. they didn't test it enough. they didn't realize the repercussions that the service packs would have on the original installs, just the same as XP (evidently they didn't learn from that mistake there). and it is a very glitchy OS as a result of poor planning, testing, and yes, hardware. however, there is more than just glitches that puts me off of vista; perhaps it is the strain that aero puts on the PC (to the point where i equipped a theme made for older computers just to disable it and have some nostalgia; it makes the sidebar solid though, lol), maybe it's the CONSTANT user account control checks (no vista, i DO know what's best), or it could be the unfinished feel and lack of flexibility. Vista was more of a gateway OS than anything else; not quite XP, not quite 7.

@nej: yay, more reason to be proud of my heritage. as if that [as] bump about canada wasn't enough. -w-

So, I actually ended up getting an early start on Christmas shopping today ^_^;

This might just be the earliest I've started on it in recent memory; beating out getting the plush Chocobo for Kari in September last year.

Chocofreak13
