@bells: care to elabourate?

Stew's considering a full time, permanent job in Eastern VA.

More germanely, there's no conceivable way for Stew and I to live together and both be happy/satisfied. The scenarios:

1. Stew works in Eastern VA, I move in with him after I'm done with my Bachelor Degree(s) —> I have to give up dreams of pursuing Masters/Postgrad education in New England, I'm separated from my friends and family, I may not have work, I have to live someplace I dislike. (I suffer)

2. Stew somehow secures a transfer to New England —> I stand a better chance of going to a college I like and working someplace I want to work, but Stew is separated from his family and friends and may not be living someplace he likes. (Stew suffers)

3. My suggested compromise: Stew finds work near the geographical midpoint between where we live —> we're equidistant from our friends and family, but we both have to live someplace we don't want to be, namely N.E. PA, NJ or S.E. NY. (We both suffer)

4. We both find work/school someplace distant —> equally far away from family/friends, may or may not be someplace we like. (Unknown outcome)

5. We both wait five/ten/whatever years until the stars align and we're both able to move someplace we like —> I spend however many years in despair over being separated from the person I love and continue to sublimate my deep unending sorrow through increasingly bizarre and potentially harmful means.

In short there's no scenario that turns out well for me, well for him or well for both of us.

Of the options I'd only pursue (3) just because it's the only fair one and the only that would require sacrifices from both of us. But Stew doesn't like it so we're back to square one.

(1) stands the best chance of occurring while (2) is very unlikely and would hinge upon a bunch of other variables falling into place. (4) fits in between the two.

(5) would be extremely bad and I don't even want to consider it happening.

Bells, there is no reason to fret.
One man's victory is, inevitably, another man's defeat. We aren't just social animals - we're social carnivores.

I know that's true but that doesn't make it any less difficult to deal with. -__-

if you're looking for advice, finish your degree in your school of choice. i know now that going to the right college means much less regret later on. when you're done with school for good, you can focus on things like getting hitched and living together. this is never something to be taken lightly, and i'd say the risks outweigh the benefits on you leaving. ;^;

Indeed. At least in my case, roughly 50% of my family are people I don't give a fuck about, so moving away from them is more a blessing than anything. I'll miss the ones I actually care about, of course :\

Maybe once I finally move, there should be a cuddlepile. Everyone gets all the snuggles, and maybe have ice cream afterward :3

Generally I would agree, but considering it could very easily take me another 4 years to get a BS (I'm doubtful many of my credits will transfer, I'm only going to do the minimum number of credit hours for full time status and may end up dual majoring in something that would require many classes beyond what I need for my degree). Assuming I want to go further (which I do), I could be dicking around with getting an MS for god knows how long. 2 years is typical but I don't think I'd get it done that quickly.

Chocofreak13

it's still important, bro! worth exploring the option, anyway. and if you're worried about it taking too long, work your ass off. summer classes and shorter online semesters can expedite the process.

Nice -w-

I did not sleep well last night; should have known making such a sudden change to my bed would throw me off. The mattress pad I was using was falling apart, so I switched to a new one, which is soft...but it holds heat very well, which given how hot it is, made it hard for me to figure out how to get comfortable. Now, I simply try to wake up, and hope the coffee will aid me when I can get to it later.

Thanks :3

So, I just got back home from my trip to Tyler. Here's everything that happened:
Great Amiibo Raid II: Electric Pikachu (And misc. happenings in Tyler): ShowHide
Phase 1: Restless Nights
It all began last night. Before bed, in an effort to help bring myself good luck, I played a quick round of Smash Bros as Jigglypuff. After that, I then finally went to bed...as the problem begins. You see, I had to replace the mattress pad on my bed; the old one was falling to pieces, but thankfully, mom had a spare...and its big flaw is that, while super-soft, it holds heat very well. That'd be great in winter, but in the summer, not so much; as I had a hard time getting comfortable enough to sleep. I tossed and turned for hours, finally getting a little rest (And having a very brief dream about watching Joel play Smash Bros.) before my alarm clock went off at 6AM. Time to wake up.

With my stomach messed up due to it being far earlier in the morning than I'm used to being up, I just sipped on a glass of tea while browsing the web, before it came time to get dressed and head out. It began to rain as we left, but just in Palestine; Tyler was clear, and was supposed to stay that way until about 12PM.

After dropping dad off at work, and getting a cup of coffee to go with my pop tart, I take command of the car; popping in my newly-made mix CD, as I rush out as quickly as possible, while Bombing Mission from Final Fantasy VII set the tone.

Phase 2: Break the Target!
Once I get onto the main road, I find myself catching the tail end of morning rush hour. Counting down the minutes, I made my way through, before finally it cleared up, allowing me to make up for lost time. I arrived at Target just after 8AM (About 7:59 according to my phone, but their doors were already open). Fearing the worst, I briskly walk to the back of the store; finding the surprisingly short line.

I began to chat with the guy in line in front of me; swapping stories about Amiibo we've bought, as well as Smash Bros. in general, to help pass the time. Eventually, it came my turn in line; as they had plenty of Jigglypuff left. Sadly, Robin was sold out, so I decided to grab Silver Mario while I was there; knocking out 2 in one shot.

Feeling triumphent, I went across the street to Walmart. They didn't have any new stock, but given that it was starting to rain (Although softly, at least), it gave me some time to wait for it to ease up (Which, by lunchtime, it was bright and sunny; no rain). Once I finished, I walked down to Gamestop just to look at their sign; no Robins in stock, so I knew to skip that store.

Phase 3: .hack//WarioWare
I went over to Hastings next; given they were the next store to open up. I got there with 20 minutes to spare, so I finished my pop tart and then pulled out my laptop to log the day so far. Once they opened, I went in; browsing for a while to pass the time. No new Amiibo in, but I found some manga (.hack//AI Buster 2 and volume 3 of Negima), and nearly bought the Disturbed album, Asylum...until I saw Rainbow's Rising was on sale, so I bought that instead.

Nest, I make my way to Toys R Us. There's a line outside, with a group of guys getting in some multiplayer Smash Bros. to pass the time; leaving me to wish I had remembered my 3DS so I could jump in for a round. As I waited, another person showed up, and he and I started to talk about Nintendo stuff, and I helped him figure out what one a friend of his wanted him to pick up (Greninja). For myself, I picked up Greninja (To trade to one of the guys at Game-X-Change for a Gold Mario) and a Wario (Which I was the only person in line to get one LOL), as sadly, Robin was sold out. As I left, I noticed the person in front of me at the traffic light was very much a Nintendo fan; with decals on the rear window of the Animal Crossing leaf symbol, Majora's Mask, a Mario mushroom, etc. (I wish I had taken a picture, but it's difficult to do that with my phone while driving)

Phase 4: No Robin, Wario Only, Final Destination
I make my way down to Best Buy next...and sadly, no new Amiibo. The guy I talked to at the register did look up to find that the closest store with anything is Longview, and all they have is Wario. Thus, I make my way down to the Gamestop in the mall...and no Robin either. I considered checking the one on Highway 64, but decides to skip it, since it was a bit out of the way.

Thus, I decided to call it quits on the raid; going to Hot Topic next. Was so tempted to get this cute green plaid miniskirt...but I didn't really want to spend $30 on a skirt, when I still need to get lunch, so I picked up some blind box Portal turrets instead (They had a buy 1 get 1 50% off sale, so I took advantage of it)...and amusing enough, ended up with 2 of the same (One with guns open, and the other with guns closed).

Next, I go down to the Goodwill on the loop...and didn't see much of interest. Taking a quick break, I break out my laptop to type out everything so far as my mix CD reached the end, and I flipped back to satellite radio. After I finish, I put away the laptop, and go to Game-X-Change.

Phase 5: Free Game
After a struggle (Lunch rush hour setting in, assholes a plenty; like the one that drove on the wrong side of the road to pass me in the turn lane), I arrive. Didn't see too much of interest within my price range, so I leave... and as I walked back to the car, I found a disc on the ground in the parking lot. Picking it up, it's a copy of Bioshock 2, for PS3, in fairly decent condition. Needless to say, I picked it up and put it away. I then go over to Burger King and get lunch. I was going to meet up with dad, but he couldn't get over there until I was about to leave, which I was kind of in a hurry, as the burger was not agreeing with my stomach in the least, and I needed some Pepto ASAP.

Phase 6: Wherever I May Roam
Leaving there, my next stop was Walmart; going to the one on Highway 64, just because I felt like it. I picked up some Pepto and a bottle of Powerade to help with my stomach problems. I then go down to the third and final Gamestop, since it was nearby; they didn't even ger Robin in, and all they had left was Pac-Man, which I can wait on for now.

Now, with all stores that carry Amiibo checked, and a few other places as well, I'm left wondering what, exactly, I want to do next; I have about 3 hours left until dad gets off work. I then decided to go down to the Goodwill located downtown, because why not? Didn't find anything worthwhile, though.

I then went down to World Market; a store the parents have told me about. While browsing, I found some Moxie, so I picked up a case. I then decide, since I have an hour to kill, to drive to Geek World to wrap things up; seening some things I wouldn't have minded, but I was getting low on gas, so I had to pass (Although it was so tempting to get Kari a chibi Eevee plushie).

Phase 7: Full Disclosure
With nothing left to do, and the lack of decent sleep stacked with how much I did today catching up with me, I went back to dad's work to pick him up. I arrived, met some of his coworkers (Again experiencing unspoken irritation over people trying to talk me into taking X job or Y job), and after a slight delay, we finally left.

Upon getting home, I pulled out my laptop once more and finished typing the last few details before posting this very message. Tomorrow, aside from telling that guy at Game-X-Change that I have a Greninja for him (Going to see if he'll trade his spare Gold Mario for it; since I already have Wario, and Pac-Man looks to be the most common), my plan is "do nothing until it's time for work" -w-;

Ideally, my next major trip, to the resort in a few weeks, will involve less running around like this, and more relaxing stuff. Still, I had a good day; just glad I can finally rest now.

Final results:
- Amiibo:
  - Jigglypuff
  - Silver Mario
  - Wario
  - Greninja
- .hack//AI Buster 2
- Negima: Volume 3
- Rising (Rainbow album)
- Portal turrets (2 - red, both variants)
- Bioshock 2 (PS3 - disc only)
- Moxie (6-pack)
- Pepto Bismol

sweet finds, bro. sucks about Robin, but if it makes you feel any better they were gone before they were on shelves here, too. :\

EDIT: almost forgot, went to the Strawberry Festival pre-sale (books) on friday. turns out i was misinformed and the sale was going on on thursday, so we totally missed out (even moreso since they were packing up the books while we were looking so mum didn't get to see any of the books since she was distracted by CDs the whole damn time). on the upside, while i didn't get a copy of Catcher in the Rye, i walked out of there with a manga (Mixx Comics Imprint of Magic Knight Rayearth vol. 1, mint condition, did NOT expect) and a couple other nice books (favourite thus far is an Encyclopedia of Asian Cooking). later in the day we also went to Savers in Nashua and hit up the book section (i think mum wanted to make up for missing out) and walked out of there with a shitload of books (mystery novels for her, manga for me). after that, back to Salem where the bank fucked up mum's account several times (ending with her card being bricked, fate unknown), but she still did me a solid and got me a crop of new panties (always good to have more).

What's in your hand, back at me. I have it, it's an oyster with two figures of your favorite Touhou characters. Look again, the figures are now vials of the Hourai Elixir. Anything is possible when your waifu smells like Old World and not a man. I'm a frog.

Chocofreak13

enjoy cocks! at least it's not CoC.
@pent: Robin is one of those things where i get the feeling the only way to get them is to online order.
@leaf: hah, nice. make sure you get pics though to ensure it's not a creepy dude. and gamepad sounds nice, but what's it like?
