Okay that's kinda cool.

Finally figured out what I needed to do for my raspberry pi to operate relays via optocoupler.

Its sitting on my desk making some lights blink in response to commands sent over SSH.

Even more cool: Just built a 3 channel audio mixer so that the pi can be added to an existing system without endangering it- the opamp I used in the mixer keeps the pi's output isolated from the other inputs.

Now for one last feature- making it so I can input signals back into the pi.

I wish I had dem skills. ;____;

Hell, I still have to finish my C language book. Summer's been surprisingly distracting. ><

I feel really distressed now

for some stoopid reason, I started watching 9/11 videos and reading information about the attack and victims on Wikipedia.

What's in your hand, back at me. I have it, it's an oyster with two figures of your favorite Touhou characters. Look again, the figures are now vials of the Hourai Elixir. Anything is possible when your waifu smells like Old World and not a man. I'm a frog.

So, I now have a VGA Box for my Dreamcast, after years of wanting one. It looks great; aside from being slightly pixely, Sonic Adventure on DC rivals the PS3 HD remaster *w*

@leaf: trying to understand what happened, or relate, or what?
@cockle: you were alive, but i doubt you remember much, right?

it was already said last year, but i'll mention again my experience on that day.
Spoiler: ShowHide
i was in about 3rd-4th grade, so i don't remember much, but the adults seemed very nervous and quiet and trying to appear normal. things were even more pronunced at the girl scout meeting, with all the parents in the back mulling about and muttering amongst each other nervously. this was unusual in itself as the parents didn't usually hang out at the meetings. it ended rather early as we got back before 5 and i remember being shocked as i came up the stairs and saw my dad watching TV in the middle of the day (he scolded people who did that and watched the news at 6 like clockwork, but it was well before 6pm). when i saw the TV, my jaw dropped to the floor, since even at 9 years old i could process what the fuck just happened. and shit was so scary after that.

i've spent the whole week being like, "damn man, i gotta fill out this application and type my resume. eh, i'll do it on friday, i'll be at grampy's anyway."

except friday is the 4th.

way to go, genius.

@911
I was on the bus home from school to celebrate my dad's birthday, in a front seat close enough that I could hear the driver's radio. The first plane had just hit. #2 struck after I came home and turned on the TV.

I don't recall really giving too much thought to the implications of the attack until quite some time later.

Holy. God. The thunderstorm rolling over me right now is basically nuking me with lightning strikes.

It's lighting up for about 15 seconds a pop, and a brief intermission, and then back to looking like it's the middle of the day. At 10 PM. Strangely, a distinct lack of booming thunder, only rolling murmurs of action far away. I'm usually scared of lightning, but this is making me pretty happy inside..

Ever since lightning struck an extremely large tree outside of my house when I was very young, I've been the poster child of a scared child during a thunderstorm. It's faded now, but I still get that twinge in my heart, but I've learned to appreciate the wonders of nature.

Funny. When lightning struck the other day, and I saw the flash, I just thought "whatever" and continued whatever I was doing on the computer.

NejinOniwa

I had a run-in with what was most likely the greatest thunderstorm recorded in Sweden during my lifetime when I was 10 or so, and the lighting from the lightning (huehuehue) was similar to what you describe. The sound, however, was not. It was rather deafening, and trying to sleep was quite a bother; nevermind that we'd just been forced to move camp to get shelter from the rain. The damage on the surrounding coastline was enormous, but we noticed practically nothing from where we were.

it seems to have subsided for now, and i have an urge to go outside and breathe in that fresh rain smell.
