i think typing was kind of....experimental for my school. i don't remember my sister taking it and i don't even think the class ahead of us took it. i don't even think the class AFTER us took it. it was pretty stupid, tbh. :\

Well, I never took one, which everyone thought was strange, including my High School.

I don't see how you would even teach typing, though.
Like, how do you have a class to teach people to hit the letters on a keyboard.

THE A KEY IS LOCATED HERE
caps lock [A]
HIT IT WITH YOUR FINGER TO TYPE A
A
GOOD JOB! ON TO THE NEXT LESSON, THE S KEY

they used a computer program where you would complete games and then lessons. i sucked at it and was chastized by the teachers, till they realized that i was basically unteachable in this department and kinda gave up. i was in 5th grade, what the fuck did i need to type?

To this day I still think home row is uncomfortable, prone to extreme butchering when even slightly out of position and not flexible enough.

I'll always have horror flash backs of my parents attempting to teach me home row.

Nichi

...dafuq is a home row?

Also, I never had a typing class; that I was self-taught from having to enter DOS commands to run my games, and further expanded upon when I began to write stories -w-

@Kari: Yes, yes you may

Chocofreak13

thankyou.

also, i believe "home row" is a style of keyboard typing. i remember the typing method they tried to teach in the class i was in was rather ineffective, so perhaps it was this method.

the teachers also kind of hated it that i only used one finger per hand to type. still do, and i'm willing to bet i likely type faster than they do. -w-;

Indeed. Usually I type with just 3 fingers (My thumb hits the spacebar), but sometimes I can get more fingers in on it -w-

Indeed. The default one they supposedly teach people in keyboarding classes. (lol keyboarding classes)

Thank you! I vary from 2 to 6.

Chocofreak13

typically it's only one per, but sometimes i use more. :\

I type so much that I can't even really explain how I type, it's just something I can do naturally, like swimming or walking. I think I mostly use my index and middle fingers with my thumb hitting the space bar and ring fingers hitting the backspace/tab/capslock keys...

@Kriz: I also remember my dad trying to teach me to type home row, obviously it didn't work out. -_-

Chocofreak13

home row sounds archaic lol

also, come along bells, come on skype. -w-;

Sorry for not being around much, I've been busting my butt on this homework. I was working on my exam project (involving ACCESS database) for like 8 hours yesterday, EVERYTHING WENT WRONG and I spent pretty much the whole time frustration-crying or attempting to hold back from throwing my damned textbook across the room. I still have to write 6+ pages for my research paper between now and the 20th, and code a database-linked program for programming class...

Nichi

Oh god, Access. I never could figure out how to make that accursed thing work, as I initially intended for my video game collection to be cataloged there...but I eventually said "screw it" and use Excel. I hope you figure it out :[

Chocofreak13

*pats back* good luck, dear. ;^;

I remember attempting to use Access for my Database class because that is what it recommended. I had never heard of it before then.
When using Access, everything WILL go wrong. It's a feature. Obviously the only reason they said to use it was m$ would give them $. I eventually made it work because I didn't want to start over, but wow.
