I'm holding the vacuum tube necklace I made in reserve for just such an occasion (Hint: I keep forgetting to take it with me to give her).

In two weeks I'll be an alumni of Davis & Elkins College

Nichi

Nice ^^

You know, after I get new glasses and whatnot out of the way, my next major thing is to finally get my Selectric repaired

We all know that instead of a fancy wedding ring, Stew's going to get on his knees and hand you the key to a room in which he has a working PDP-8 clone setup -w-

either that or a processor from a mac on a wedding band.

Not if I don't propose to him with a piece of LINC or AN/FSQ-7 computer first. (After a persistent letter-writing campaign to the CHM or RCSRI to let me have a "spare" piece of one of their computers, that is) >>;;;;

Oh and Kari we're on the same page re: gemstones. I much prefer the colorful jewels to plain white / clear diamonds, even if they're a "lesser" gemstone. I suspect most of the hype surrounding diamond is sue to their status-symbol nature. :/

@Gemstones: Indeed. Diamonds are rather boring :\

NejinOniwa

I posted a -tan question for you in Theories, Nej. /pleasedontshootme

Also I may post a question for all of you guys in the Theories thread later so keep a watch out for it.

Chocofreak13

i'll keep my ear to the ground.

diamonds are only a status symbol because when they were first mined out of africa by a british jeweler, the owner was a marketing genius who decided to release them to the public only a little at a time. compared to some other gemstones, they're fairly common. :\

Correction, the diamond market is controlled by the true manipulative bitches of world economics; the Dutch.  De Beers.  Remember that der Nederlands is also home to Royal Dutch Shell, who own or own through subsidiaries a fair amount of the world's oil supply.

Chocofreak13

still, i remember that it was a british guy who thought up the marketing ploy back in the late 1800's/early 1900's.

so i'm trying again to make a Yukata.
