What is New Hampshire: 31.  Is I believe what he's saying.

Pent: I wouldn't say it has to be college dude, but if you ever want to get any better sort of job you need to get vocational training.

Agreed, even if you don't want to/can't go to a four-year college, going to a tech school or community college would be a good idea...

Chocofreak13

getting certified as an IT is also a good first step. :3

True

@Stew: I get what you're saying, but when you have snobbish surgeons telling you that your life is meaningless unless you have a master's degree in [random useless subject], it kind of sours one on the idea of going to college or anything similar :\
Thankfully, I don't deal with them, so college is more of a "eh, maybe" these days

Chocofreak13

there are a lot of community colleges around here, so once you move if you want to do something else, we can get you hooked up for that. even if it's just a class or two here and there. :3

Why do people suddenly need a college degree to do this job or that job?
Whatever happened to degrees on the job at hand, wether it be ICT, DIY, etc?

NejinOniwa

Because nobody will hire you (over someone with a degree, who you're competing against) to get those in the first place. People are getting more and more educated, and a degree means you have the ability to work hard enough to get that far, at least - while someone without one is at best a shot in the dark.

It's security.
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

it's proof that you know what you're doing. why hire someone you have to walk through the process instead of someone who already knows what needs to be done? it's why degrees/certifications exist, to prove we know how to do what we do.

Honestly, the jobs that used to do things like apprenticeships still do with the option to get or start with schooling.  The nature of even basic jobs now is much more technical then it was fifty or sixty years ago.

Summer suddenly showed up, what the hell.

Nichi

Mmm

Also, same here. It's pretty much summer already :\
