my dad is coming to dinner, which is part of the hell. the other part is my aunt, who not only believes she knows basically everything in the world, but is EXTREMELY opinionated (and her opinions are "right", whatever that means), and has no problem talking about touchy topics or running her mouth till it offends people. then she has no idea what she did wrong.

honestly, they are the two people in the world i like talking to the least. i'd rather dine with a convicted rapist and a baptist minister than those two.

also, i really don't think i'm gonna like what's being served. i've never been a casserole person, and being a supertaster combined with a semi-sensitive stomach makes eating a tricky thing.

@Kari: Indeed. I'm sure I could find some way to do it by hand, but I have no idea how to even start. Granted, not knowing how to file taxes without doing it online is one of many issues that came up with being forced into homeschool >_>;

(BTW, a 1040EZ is what I use when filing, but IDK how to do it on paper; since mom always used an ordinary 1040 and never bothered to teach me how to do that. She taught me how to balance a checkbook, at the very least :\)

Paul

Thank you for clarifying!

@Kari: hope your dinner goes over well ^^

Chocofreak13

that's a useful skill, too. they taught us about checks in the class as well, which is what led me to wanting to use them. a built-in ledger is a really useful thing.

as for the 1040EZ, most of the directions are on the form. you just read downward and you might need a calculator (but i find math somewhat pleasing, so i don't mind doing it without it). it also helps to know the terminology a bit (such as knowing what a dependent is). though those online things can find all sorts of neato deductions for you which is nice. :\

@paul: maybe it's the depression talking but i'm feeling pretty pessimistic about it. my aunt has a habit of asking about touchy topics like it's fine to and i don't feel like answering, but when she does it'll encite my dad to ask, too. and i really don't feel like being badgered about college/job/driving right now.

if they DO get into that, i think i might get up and leave the table.

good luck with that dinner...

Chocofreak13

thanks, i think i'll need it. aunt isn't even here yet, thankfully, but i dread her arrival. if nothing else maybe i can distract her by talking about this new hat. (i bought it with the gift card i got from returning the gifts she got me for christmas.)

I hope it went well :\

So, I now have permission to borrow part of grandma's office next week to try and get some reorganizing going in my room. Maybe I can clear out a bunch of junk for a garage sale soon :3

Quote from: Björn Ironside's article on WikipediaIn 860, Björn led a large Viking raid into the Mediterranean. After raiding down the Spanish coast and fighting their way through Gibraltar, Björn and Hastein pillaged the south of France, where his fleet over-wintered, before landing in Italy where they captured the coastal city of Pisa. They proceeded inland to the town of Luna, which they believed to be Rome at the time, but Björn found himself unable to breach the town walls. To gain entry, he sent messengers to the bishop that he had died, had a deathbed conversion, and wished to be buried on consecrated ground within their church. He was brought into the chapel with a small honor guard, then amazed the dismayed Italian clerics by leaping from his coffin and hacking his way to the town gates, which he promptly opened, letting his army in.

Trickster god, trickster god, vikings love their trickster god.

Good God... the world is fraught with peril isn't it?

Chocofreak13

yes. but the dinner went better than expected. and there's a cat in my lap, not sure if that counts as peril. :\
