So, good news and bad news

Good: I have Donkey Kong Land 2 for my Game Boy (Mom let me pick out a cheap game at Game-X-Change as an extra Christmas gift) ^^

Bad: I need to learn how to solder, because the game's save battery is dead (I can still play it, at least; just without a save feature ^^;; )
Granted, I've wanted to learn how to solder for years, so maybe this and that dusty old Game Gear will finally result in me getting off my lazy butt and learning it

Now it's my turn to complain about feeling ill; like every other time something's wrong it seems to be a digestive/bowel issue again.  Just in time for Christmas.

I've also been doing a lot of reading on old school 1970s/1980s AMTRK trains and their consists, triggered by my upcoming trip (a dream in more ways then one).  I'll be riding the Vermonter from DC to White River Jct. over the tracks that used to belong to a handful of railroads.  Particularly, it was originally known as the Montrealer running from DC all the way into Canada mostly over Boston & Maine trackage by Amtrak.  Unfortunately the route deteriorated over the years and budget cuts forced the company to cut service any farther then Vermont.  After a two year suspension in the 1980s it returned, eventually becoming the Vermonter in 1995.

My journey'll start at Harpers Ferry going east over the former B&O Capital Division over the route of every famous DC-Chicago train.  More recently Amtrak has run the Blue Ridge, Shenandoah, Potomac Special, and Capital Limited over the same line at one time or the other.

Nichi

@Stew: Sucks about being sick, but the trip sounds nice. Get pics if you can ^^

Chocofreak13

@stew: pepto bismol, honey, and a shitload of candy canes.

also, you're right about the deterioration. back in the 80's trains still ran through town here, but they slowly fell out of use, so they stopped in the late 80's (87' i think). they've recently started ripping up the remains of the track, which is likely a good thing, but it's sad to see it go. :\

@pent: gl with that. in the event you can't get it done, i could research at a local used game store to see if they could fix it. they usually can, and i could quote you a price and get it fixed for you if you ship it here with the funds. :\

Siiiiccckkkkk I can't clear this mucus ;_;
What's in your hand, back at me. I have it, it's an oyster with two figures of your favorite Touhou characters. Look again, the figures are now vials of the Hourai Elixir. Anything is possible when your waifu smells like Old World and not a man. I'm a frog.

@Stew: I learned more about Amtrak!

Asdfghjk, i didn't know this was a dream of yours. I hope the trip goes well~ ;u;

@Cockle: Ugh, you too?! I woke up with so much mucus I felt like I was gonna gag. ><;;

If you have nasal congestion, go to a pharmacy counter and pick up some sudafed (the original kind with pseudoephedrine, not the useless-ass kind that they sell on the shelf), I had horrible sinus congestion and I bought some generic, pharmacy-brand pseudoephedrine-based decongestant and it worked well. And if it's chest congestion, look for a generic version of Mucinex, because Mucinex is fuckin' expensive ($38 for a box of maximum-strength Mucinex DM) and the generics can work just as well for a fraction of the price ($10). Today I bought some from Rite-Aid, it's a lower dosage than the name brand and I have to take it more often but so far it seems to be working okay.

And if it's both, look for Mucinex D ... it's sold over-the-counter just like Sudafed. Dunno about the price though since I've never used it.

I wrote a Wheel of Time X Ponies crossover
WHAT AM I DOING
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

Bella

Writing a crossover fic apparently.

Chocofreak13

@bella, cockle: just do me a favour and don't fall for the alka seltzer or tylonol pm commercials. any nighttime medicine that has a nasal decongestant is a piece of crap.

so there's this cat on me. he's heavy, and purring, and i can't get up to brush my teeth. >>;
