Visual novels bore me; I tend to find the artwork mediocre and the storylines uninspiring and end up asking myself (especially in the case of amateur ones) Why didn't the creator just write this as a story and save me the trouble of having to CLICK THROUGH IT SLOWLY-

There's only one visual novel I've played, and that's @CameliaGirls.  Only the first act has been released, and there's not really any game play in that part, but the visuals were nice and the writing was amusing.

I don't know how I'd feel about other visual novels. Probably as a rule I wouldn't care for them since I prefer games that have much more game play, but I could be willing to play another VN if it has good writing, good use of visuals, and no porn, and preferably has good pacing.

For really old ones, Divi Dead and Nocturnal Illusions I found interesting.  Later came TYPE-MOON with Tsukihime and Fate/stay night. Since then, I haven't really gotten into more VNs due to time, but I find them very enjoyable. To me, they're like picture books for adults. haha The visuals (and occasionally sound effects/audio) feed my imagination, and I sort of flesh out the lacking parts.  Tsukihime's art certainly wasn't the greatest, but damn that story was fun to read at night.  Also, I must mention, the people who translate visual novels aren't exactly novelists themselves, so what would be great writing in Japanese falls flat when they translate it. All the more reason that imagination is important, I think.

@Bells I dunno, I've encountered few VNs where the clicking was an impediment...  Usually, I can read through and click to the next page without the jarring thought of "COME ON I FINISHED READING GO TO THE NEXT PAGE NAOOO!!!" taking me out of the story.

the only ones i have are casual romance club and heart de roommate, both of which i have yet to play. they were gifted from a friend when he was cleaning out his stuff.

Just a short post, as laptop's in very poor place for typing. I'm at hospital in my own room, and tomorrow morning'll see the operation take place. I've been started on anti-clotting treatment and had all possible tests taken. Everything looks good so far.
