This is older than this thread, back when the caramelldansen thingie was raging hard. But I had other things to do, so never went beyond sketch.

I also thought about animating something, but I have not enough time.

Also, is there a basic template for easily animating this dance?
I don't like how mine ended up looking.

Well...*hem*...you could just trace all the frames of an existing gif and re-do them...

...but since that is SUXOR RIPOFF SHIT LOLZ, I guess not. Although you could still use an existing gif as an outline/blueprint and draw as that same number of frames/stances etc.

Actually, the way they're drawn, it shouldn't be very hard at all to animate that.  It certainly requires far fewer frames than my last unfinished GIFs:

You only need to animate up to the point where they swing their hips to the left -- the rest can just reuse the same animation frames but in reverse.  I would say 5 key frames are required, for a total of 10 frames for the main movement, plus two quarter-second pauses during the pinnacle of each hip swing.
