QuoteWell, Since you did promise to give me some time with Pu-chan..
I guess I could share her with you. ^-^
But don't get used to this. I'm not this generous every day...

*greed* *greed* *greed* *greed* .... ¬¬

...

Okay, we'll cut a deal!  ^__^
I'll take one week with IV-chan (aka, "IrfanView-tan") for one hour of my beloved, blue-haired goddess PUUUUUUUUUUU-sama.  ^______^

....

Come on!  Tis a sweet deal!!!  ^v^

[quoteI had the thought to make a MintLinux-tan...as usual, it got nowhere...

Something like a greener, shinier, perhaps more elegant, Ubuntu-tan...?[/quote]

I'm afraid I'm no good either, cause I'm naturally biased towards this representation of "mint".....

Ohhhh,... how I doth sucketh....  Â¯x¯

Quote from: "Bella"The only thing I'm a tad disconcerted about is that picture nearest her finger...what's going on there
That's...Bicoret.  (deviantART link here)

He's a character design I had years ago.  A greed demon, of sorts.  I was mostly just going with any picture I could find on my computer and since I used that in the screenshot I did for Ghostzilla-tan:

...I decided to keep it up!  After all, the screenshot even has IrfanView displaying the image!  This is not, however, evidence that I am planning a Quicktime-tan.  I'm not.

Quote from: "C-Chan"Awwww now,... surely something with tentacles can't be bad, can it? ^^
I...er...recently saw The Mist.  Tentacles can be bad.  They can be very, very bad.  *shivers*

Quote from: "C-Chan"...I was wondering if you've given any thought to how a Minty-chan would look like?
Have I ever!  I've been going back and forth on ideas for a Linux Mint-tan for months!  Also, the fact that the Mint editions are given names like Celena, Bianca and Cassandra make it look like an attractive candidate for multiple personas.  After many sketches, I have decided on a design I like.  I tried to make her look elegant while still refreshingly cool.  A few minor tweaks may still be in order, but I've pretty much settled on the design.  As far as editions go, I think of her as more of a Celena-tan (Linux Mint 3.1).  Maybe future designs could give us an Ada (LM 1.0), Barbara (LM 2.0), Bea (LM 2.1), Bianca (LM 2.2), Cassandra (LM 3.0) and Daryna (LM 4.0)?

Of course, it would help to actually show you what I'm talking about...

There.  A Linux Mint-tan sketch.

Go for it! ^.^

Bella

Oooh...LinuxMint-tan is very elegant and beautiful!

Her dress is futuristic, yet as the same time the scalloping gives a more old-fashioned feel...and I love her leaf spear!

Can't wait to see her colored!

I have placed a 600dpi scan here.  Click "Download" on the far left to get the largest version.

In the usual deviation from my plans, I would like to debut Fried Chicken Linux-tan (or, FCL-tan):

Fried Chicken Linux is a Linux software repository designed for the IT University of Copenhagen.  It was named after the university's logo, which has been claimed to look like fried chicken.

The basic colors of FCL-tan's outfit (the red and yellow/orange...and even the white) are taken from the university's colors (or, at least the ones on the website).  She also wears the university's logo on her sweater.  Her fried chicken hat is an obvious reference to her name, as well as the FCL logo.  Her shoes have fried chicken wings, much in the fashion of Mercury's winged sandals.  FCL-tan's over-sized sweater also make her arms look like fried chicken wings (somewhat).

Read about Fried Chicken Linux here.  It probably doesn't really deserve to be personified...but I wanted to do it, anyway.

The background is a picture of the Ørestad building of the university.

Eheheheh... For a moment I read "FCL" as "FLCL" XD

Anyways FCL-tan is cute and incorporates clever references to fried chicken! And I thought I've heard everything when it comes to Linux distro names!

Awesome!  That's some serious ambition you have there, to create (or at least consider) a separate OS-tan for each Minty release.  I myself have used Bianca, Cassandra, Celena and Daryna.  ^__^

Permission to engage in extended swoonage!!  ^.^
The design most certainly drips with elegance and "refreshing coolness" (no intention to steal your unintended pun).  ^___^'
I also figure Celena-san (and all the others, actually) tend to wander around Europe for the most part, since their presence in the US would be of questionable legality.  ^.^;

QuoteHumm, mind if i ink and tone one of your drawings sometime? Do a bit of a collab. I like your style and Ive been thinking of doing such for some time.

Both your approaches are very similar, so you should be able to collaborate seamlessly.  Regardless, it's nice to see more productive team work -- and more so in the fostering of home-grown characters that are so genuinely "OSC".

Wow...I've never even heard of FCL...But the character is sooo cute! I really like her hat heehee...And her expression is adorable!

Hey...maybe I'll have to reconsider a ham sandwich for FCL's hat...?

WOOHOO!  I was right!  She's the perfect decoy!  Keeps me safe, and cute as a button too!  ^v^
*cuddles up to FCL-tan*

QuoteAhhhh, she's been banned from the country...?

Not yet at least, but given Minty-chan already comes prepackaged with codecs needed to play MP3's, some Win32 files and encoded DVDs (even PCLinuxOS doesn't go so far as to preinstall the latter two). Since companies looooooooove charging you more than once for a product you already purchased (e.g., a DVD player), providing these codecs without paying licensing fees is technically illegal.  But since this has to do with patent laws, this only pertains to the US, which is why Linux Mint "Light" was created exclusively for use in the states (not that it stops users from downloading the full edition anyway.... ^^; ).

BTW,... reposting this on Siya's thread cause it's made with absolute epic "winnage"!!  ^v^
