QuoteWhy do I call PC's "ladies"? Don't ask.
It's not like you need to ask us that kind of question, you know, as the answer is pretty obvious anyway.

I think you swapped an m for a g there in the RAM's, but meh.

And 1gb ram lappy with vista? That's not good for your health, sir.

I have to say, each of my computers has had its own name, most of them women's.

Heritage
The Reverend: Macintosh Plus, System 7 (fate unknown, presumed dead)
-Father's work computer, the first I ever saw.  Introduced me to gaming and "Don't touch that!"
Chad: Macintosh Classic II, System 6 (deceased)
-Sort of our first home computer, turned on only when dad needed to work on a sermon.  Originally my uncle's.
Rhoda: ?, running Windows 3.1 (deceased)
-Purchased at a yard sale in 2002, used for several years as a hobby of mine.  Died when my mother hauled her to the dump.

Surviving Machines
Elizabeth: Dell Desktop 1996, Windows 95/98 (Slated for possible conversion)
-First ever home computer, so far has avoided Rhonda's fate by being stuck in a bag of Christmas ornaments
Emily: Dell Desktop 2003, Windows XP Home
-Current family computer, showing her age but beloved for her years of reliable service
Katharine: Dell Studio 15, Running Vista failing to run DSL
-My current laptop and the apple of my eye
Abigail: Dell Desktop 2007, Windows XP Pro
-test computer from a computer lab I put together
Mary Louisa: Inspiron, Windows 98SE
-Leader of the original computers for the lab, now used to run older games and for experimentation

Surviving, Nonfunctioning
Charlotte I: Old Casio Laptop, running Windows 98SE
-First laptop, non-functioning battery so I ran it off of a cable. Purchased at a yard sale in 2006.  Screen ceased working in 2008, retired from service.
Charlotte II: Dell Inspiron 1500, Windows XP Pro
-Second gift from my uncle, also lacking a functioning battery.  Provided reliable service until she ceased to turn on properly last month and now is retired.

Bella

My new current computer is an unnamed Apple iMac, 24''. Sh has a 2.93ghz Intel dual core processor, 4gb ddr3 SDRAM, 640gb HD and NVIDIA GeForce graphics card w/256mb GDDR3 memory.

Ohh right I forgot, my XP's name is Milisha. The other virtual ladies are all unnamed yet. And the laptop is also unnamed but it it referred to as "The tiny one"

It's the Swan Station Apple II/ III countdown computer... it's a Lost thing. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Apple_II

I have to punch in the numbers every 108 minutes, or the world will implode (in principle :p)

NejinOniwa

You watch too much of that, Bella-san. ^-^;

Aurora Borealis

Main computer: 2008 aluminum Macbook, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, Mac OSX 10.5.7 as the main OS, and Macintosh System 6.0.8 (running under the Classic Mac emulator Mini vMac) as my secondary OS.

Today I tried running Macintosh System 7.5.3 (running under another Classic Mac emulator, Basilisk II) on my Macbook, and it failed. Miserably. The installations and setup were successful, but I couldn't get any applications running. Should have known. To me, System 7.5.x has been nothing but trouble! AAAAAUGH!

Secondary computer: Late 2005 Mac Mini, 1.5 GHz Power PC G4, 1 GB RAM, Mac OSX 10.4.11 and Mac OS 9.2.2 (as Classic Environment).

I use this computer for some editing work, and to scan my drawings, as my scanner doesn't work with OSX 10.5.

Tertiary computer: 1999 Blue + White Power Mac G3, 400 MHz Power PC G3, 256 MB RAM, Mac OSX 10.3.9 (formerly main OS), Mac OS 9.2.2 (now main OS on this computer. It doesn't run OSX very well).

Was my main computer from 2005 to 2008, even though it doesn't run OSX very well, the start up drive has issues, and Inkscape can be slow as molasses. Now I use it to play classic games under Mac OS 9.

BTW, Bella, what if you have go to sleep?! Who is watching after that computer to prevent the world from imploding?! Or do you stay up all night, for the sake of the world?! o_o

Bella

That be quite a menagerie of Macs you have goin', Aurora-sama.

As for what I do when I have to sleep... hurhurhur... I just hired myself an insane Scotsman to push the button on the late shift. I pay him in fine whisky and Dickens novels, he doesn't seem to complain.

OH, and Hurrah, I got Windows XP Pro installed in VirtualBox on meh Mac.

NejinOniwa

That reminds me...Win7 Ultimate is supposed to have XP Mode, right?
Can't find it. Huh.
