Better shield Athlon XP PU's IO then. Because the longer the traces get, more radio-related errors and/or problems you're gonna get.
Try serial IO setup, I think - may reduce the problem.

Smokey

well, i intended to use a serial link whrevr i can, i just didn't think about it with the PUs, wich now makes life a lot easier on me...

Homer no function beer well without (Homer Simpson) ^_^

Dr. Mario

That's just my suggest, based on my experience handling the design of motherboard.
(Yeah, I have made few mobo before - but it's not easy. My NES computer project involves handling sophisicated processors, one using a LGA interface containing over 1,000 pins in the socket - not Socket F or B, though.)

Smokey

i know, and i indeed dread the MoBo design phase, since i will be etching the PCB myself...

Dr. Mario

Still, I have an access to a PCB etcher (which use powerful UV laser to etch the copper layer while being immensed in solvent) to make a multilayered motherboard.

I don't have it yet though. ;014  But I will have it shipped as I'm moving to different part of Montana.

Smokey

o_o wait what...

;015 that's awesome...

and here i am with the most basic tools available... ;014

Dr. Mario

Yup. Well, I usually get away with basic tools. ;020

And for the laser PCB etcher, it's pretty hard to get: it got a heart attack-inducing price tag.
A few grands.

Usually, if I don't have an access to PCB etcher, usually I would set my eye on my HP LaserJet 4L for that job. ;001

Smokey

i haven't even got a LaserJet.......yet, that is...

all this reading from a screen is enough to drive me bonkers...

It suck sometimes and I'm an expert PSP operator already... ;014

Of course, I usually do away with what I can use.

Dr. Mario

Ha ha - true. ;001

However, when I can hook my computer up to the modem, I would use Firefox or IE7 whenever possible.
;025 Now, Bowser... What can I do with you...

Smokey

of course, PSP is cool but it does have a small screen... wich = fail on most sites...

Dr. Mario

I was blaming the PSP's main RAM - it's a feeble 32MB DDR-333.

And I got a 4GB high-speed memory stick. ;001
