Quote from: "Bella"ZOMG! Today I thought about giving Windows 7 public beta a try...

...but then I was like, nah, it's just Vista, less suckified. XD
Yeah I am tomorrow, much because of the performance boost. Direct X10 and it isn't Vista? Sign me up!

Public Beta + Windows = DOES NOT COMPUTE

Seriously, I dunno about that...

Added after 3 minutes:

Oh wait. No, TPB has it. Then I'm cool with it.

Added after 2 minutes:

Isn't Win7 supposed to be X64 only? It's kinda stupid to cling on to x86 by now...

Ohkay, first an update on my (now aging, almost ancient) desktop:
CPU: Athlon X2 4800+
MEM: 4GB DDR2
Video: 2x GF 8500GT in SLI
HDD: A total of 1,2 terrabyte
monitor: 17"widescreen
case Aeocool with brushed alu front and window with 140mm fan and upside down mounted mainboard with power supply in the bottom (BTX style i think...

And for my new laptop: thats an Acer Aspire 7530 with an Athlon X2 1.9 GHz, 3GB RAM 250GB Harddisk 17" widescreen and my very first official Windows WinVista 32bit (sucks cause it only supports 3.2GB of ram)...
Anyways i love my new lappie to bits...
I dont tell you how to tell me what to do, so dont tell me how to do what you tell me to do... Bender the Great) :/

Hey, your desktop is missing at least one monitor. Fix that.

that's the fun thing about SLI, you mash 2 vidcards togerther via a small flat cable to make 'em into one card 1,5 times better...
but i'm gonna save for a phase-change cooler, overclock the damn thing straight to hell (wich'll be hrd since it's ASUS + AMD, leaving room for about some 1000-1500MHz extra) and buy me some new shiz...

Better start saving though, cus my average pc costs about â,¬1000.- and this one that i want to assemble next is around â,¬1600.- :D

Nuker

Windows 7 beta 64bit.

It's pretty cool, actually. Way faster than Vista.

As for the PC

Asus P5Q Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
nvidia Geforce 8800GT
5 Gbytes DDR2 800Mhz
150Gb HDD
150Gb Ext HDD
120Gb Multimedia/TV HDD

Smokey

GAH! Intel, my nemesis...

and 5GB as in 1x2GB + 3x1GB or does your board have more than 4 slots? I really don't know since i only keep track of AMD related stuff preferably by ASUS...

Nuker

Never really had a problem with Intel...

My motherboard and my 8800GT are asus, though, good stuff.

And yeah, it's 1x2 + 3x1. Or at least it would be if I had them all connected right now. I also have a spare 1Gb DDR2 800 and 2 1Gb DDR2 533 to use in other PCs or as spare parts.

Smokey

Oh, don't get me wrong... Intel makes good procesors and they are at this moment slightly better than AMD...

I'm just a die hard AMD fan, along with ASUS and Western Digital... :D

It looks like I'm gonna upgrade my 4-year-old emachines notebook to 1gb RAM and a larger HD, and install some sort of XP/Ubuntu dual boot...

I AM BELLA, PHEAR MY 133TNESSSSS!!!! >O<

PH34R MY IBM 70904/95 0N W1CH I AM LEARNING FORTRAN!

*sigh*

I couldn't find any courses on programming 1GL, wich'd be the überest-L337...

Maybe that's whats keeping my Vista from epic fail, a bit of sober IBM sense... :D ;010

Dr. Mario

Umm. I used to be diehard Intel fanboy, until I discovered several flaws in Intel CPU, so I stick to AMD now. The reason for that, I'm a programmer and horsepower-phile.

My system:
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (with modified retail heatpipe - topped off with Vantce Tornado case fan)
Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2HP
2x 1GB DDR II 667MHz (Micron Technology Inc)
WDC Caviar 40GB IDE HDD
Seagate 20 GB SATA HDD (ripped out of X-BOX 360 storage pack)
Windows XP 64 SP2
Lite-On DVD-RW SOHW-812S
;025 Now, Bowser... What can I do with you...

Nichi

I've gotten one of my spare PCs finally up and running again, so here's a quick rundown on it:

3rd Desktop: Dell Optiplex (Don't remember model number right now)
Processor: Intel Pentium III (700Mhz)
RAM: 192MB
OS: Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2)

I'm eventually going to hunt for some parts to upgrade it, but at the moment, it runs at a bearable speed.
