1: That's DDoS, and
2: That shit is only for hackers testing security systems with the knowledge of the system's owner, not for pathetic crackers...

well today each grade school kid has a mobile phone , scary.....

Smokey

Today each toddler can use a computer because of all the child-friendly software making it easy for them, and that sucks all the joy out of using the computer as a six or three year old...
That every kid is walking around with cell phones is because parents these days are spoiling their kids because it's easier to cave and say yes than to say no and endure the whining...

So.
My paycheck just rolled in, and I've got some debts to collect from pops, as well. As long as I land somewhere around a 3000:- budget (which is my estimation), I can (finally, damnit, slowpoke!) complete DELTA.
Also it makes sense now why I skipped a few letters (BETA and GAMMA) seeing as I've gone through two motherboards already, both failing me somehow, and with the DDR3 memory I have to purchase for DELTA, plus the fact that I've got so many spare parts lying around, AND that I'll probably replace my NVidia gfx card with an ATI card since my mobo is Crossfire-only, if I spend 500:- more i have another computer.

If I get more money than this, my room's going to end up PACKED full of monitors and speakers...I suck. _._

I have, on my old (somewhat broken, but still working and still used most of the time) Dell Inspiron 8600 with 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD, and 1.4GHz Pentium M: Windows XP

I have on my new Dell Inspiron 1525 with 250GB HDD, 3GB RAM, and a 1.6GHz Pentium Dual Core: Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Server 2008 Datacenter x64 dual-boot

I currently within VM's on WS2008 DC x64 via VirtualBox have: Windows 2000 Professional and Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 (which I really have no use for; I have it just because I can)

Q9300, 2.5 GHz, quadcore. 2 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1333MHz CL9.

I won't say much more this time.

Icelilly

Okay minna, Icelilly-san needs help.... Again...

Does anyone know what this error message means? I got this message when I drained my laptop's battery so it would shut down as my laptop refused to shut down.

Value creation failed " at line 903

C-Chan

Hi IceLilly-chan!!  Long time no see!  I'm so glad you finally stopped by a thread I can frequent.  ^^
(FYI, nowadays I'm limited to the the computer and art threads only, so places like Topicless are off-limits to C-chans.)

Is this Hacchan or Moseko?  Or did you get another machine?
If so, how come you had to drain the battery?  Depressing the power button for several seconds should be enough to force-poweroff a PC.  (There's also pulling out the battery, but don't know if that's safe or not for regular laptops.  Works on my EeePC, although I sleep it first.)  :P

Regarding that message, I looked around and found help topics pretty much along the same veins as this:

http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:ukWJBdK2dQEJ:forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php%3Ft%3D99230+Value+creation+failed+%22+at+line+903&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=14&gl=us

Depending on what system your using, there's a reasonable probability that this may be virus-related, and in fact might also explain why the system froze on you the way it did, only to meet you with that nasty error message upon reboot.

If you can boot back into Windows, try to run a scan to see if anything's in there.  Not sure what AV you're using, but you might consider downloading Ad-Aware just to root out any critical malware that AVs might not detect.

============================

Here's hoping you can.  :)

============================

On the other hand....

If you can't boot back into Windows, let me know.  Alternatives at this point are rare and will require a lot of tinkering on your part.  You could try booting into Safe Mode (press and hold  F8 prior to the Windows Logo popping up at boot-up), but if I know my Windows viruses, many of them muck around with Safe Mode as well.

We might also try booting up another system that can run virus scans or repair what needs to be repaired -- unfortunately, in most of these cases, we can't really know what's broken, so often times reinstallation is recommended.

If this is a newer version of Windows, chances are it doesn't come with its own Recovery Disk, but rather a Recovery partition instead.  Assuming the Recovery partition works (and your laptops manual should state how to use it), there's still the matter of recovering all the files from the laptop.  This is where a System Recovery CD or even a small Linux distro can come in handy, as they'll be able to mount your hard drive and let you shuttle your personal files onto a USB stick before the whole drive gets wiped clean by the reinstallation.

Here's one that has helped me a lot:

http://www.puppylinux.org/

The latest version is 88MB large, and can be downloaded on dial-up in little over an hour -- you should be able to get it from Hacchan if needed.  If it comes down to this, I can give you the details on how to use it.

Good luck, Lilly-chan, and keep us posted.  ^^
