I do have a copy, ya know.  ^__^

I just have to use DOSBox or VirtualBox to make sure it works... -v-

While I'm at it, I might even trying using 2.0-chan.  ^.^

Dr. Mario

I know. I ran into several problems, though. I will try and install 2.0-Chan onto ZIP disk (which I will boot fro floppy disk.) soon enough.
;025 Now, Bowser... What can I do with you...

Primary Computer: HP running Windows XP Pro & Linux Fedora & Linux Ubuntu
Secondary Computer: Compaq running Windows ME
Tertiary Computer: Random computer running Windows 95 & MS-DOS
Quaternary: Olidata running Windows 3.1
Quinary: Random computer not running
I also had an Amiga... I think it's still working...
I implore you to forgive my speaking of English, as I'm not so premium with it.

Silentbob

Then you should indeed investigate the possibility of resurrecting that Amiga.  :p

Icelilly

I'm in the need of some help you guys. ;_;

I just re-installed the Epson Scan program that gets the scanner to work. But even though I re-installed it, it still won't work! Am I doing something wrong?

AMIGA-SAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ^V^

YES YES YES!!!!!!!!  REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE HER!!!!!!!  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!!!  ;^V^;

NEED MONEY?  HERE!!  ^0^

*tosses â,¬1,000,000 in K****ij's direction*

Lilly-san, you know what that means?  Time to make an Amiga-tan stamp too!!  ^0^

QuoteI just re-installed the Epson Scan program that gets the scanner to work. But even though I re-installed it, it still won't work! Am I doing something wrong?

Oh wait, you have a problem that impairs creation of an Amiga-tan stamp... ;___;

No problemo.... ^__^

Let's get that silly scanner working so you can resume your masterful Amiga Stamp Processing unhindered!  ^.^

*starts researching*

Added after 3 minutes:

Actually, should've asked for model number of that Epson scanner and stuff.... ^__^'

And also, is that for your Hacchan computer or your Moseko (MCE) one?  ^^

I'm thinking that CD is not properly installing your TWAIN driver, so I think we'll need to manually install the latest one.

Can't verify due to this fiendish company firewall, but consider this download for an Epson TWAIN USB Scanner driver specifically designed for Windows 98:

YIPPE FOR AMIGA-TAN!!! -V- (caw)
I never have used AMIGA PC, though.
I heard it had most stable OS
(64 bit version AROS is floating around too) *_*
;025 Now, Bowser... What can I do with you...

C-Chan

I do say, you've got great tastes Doc!  ^___^

Oh, and glad you reminded me of AROS-chan,... I have to get a rendition of her alongside MorphOS-chan done soon.... ^.^;

*trots off to draw*

Dr. Mario

Yess, Draw! Draw to conquer the world!!!!!
(1.0-tan - in the shadow) Hee... You're weird, Doc!
Huh?
(1.0-tan)  ;018 Huh? What....
.... uh-oh.
(1.0-tan) Work! Work!
T_T I have nothing to work...
(1.0-tan) Say hello to C-chan for me, hee.. *walks off*
Whew...

Hehe... Never mind. It turns out that all I needed to do was restart my computer. That's the one thing I forgot to do after the re-installation. ^^;

C-Chan

Awesome Blossom!  ^^

10-4!  All clear for Amiga-tan Stamp creation!!!  ^v^

FUN TRIVIA:  FYI, about 1% of all transactions in Linux require a restart (and usually that's just restarting the graphics server, not the whole machine itself).  ^.^

Oooh,... would that be Windows 1.0 or Mac System 1.0?  ^__^

yeah, I now gots one of those.  Very bad ass.  Ive already loaded a few useful apps on it..like google maps, opera, a new media player, and stuff of the sort.. now i saw a link online that would let me load it with palm os but that would just be nutty.

Nope...  ;014

It is stable as long as other OSes.

It is beautiful because it requires only a few system files to run (almost only 40), so you can check at a sight, if there are malware running.

It runs with few resources, so leaves almost all CPU % idle free, and almost all RAM memory free...

A typical AmigaOS or MorphOS installation picks up 17 to 24 megabyte on your hard disk (MEGA-byte not GIGA-Byte)...

You can backup entire system by simply issuing a file by file COPY "all" command from the text based interface, starting from one partition to another partition.

It has an emebdded script language AREXX (As OS/2 Rexx), which is capable to parse data from one program to anoher program...

For example you can pick up an image from screen memory of DeluxePaint program, and thru arexx you can pass it to ImageFx, which has Filters capabilities... turn the entire image in EMBOSS filter, and turn it back to DeLuxe Paint...

Or even you can use ARexx and pass visual data from a paint program which don't saves TIFF or JPEG to another program which saves it in all formats...

Also thru ARexx you can explore and list a directory of files, apply filter transformations to it all, and save it again all renamed, or queue renamed file001, file002, file003, etc.

Or finally for example you can join a list of image or text files and compose an Animation, or a book all using ARexx...  ;012  ;010

Again it has another wonderful feature:

To see new standard files, for example vector SVG, or Windows AVI, you can just add new DATATYPES, svg.datatype, or avi.datatype, and all system will be capable to see, run, and modify these new kind of filetypes...

Two are major flaws of AmigaOS:

1) It lacks of multiuser capabilites (all people can see your data and run your programs)...

2) It lacks of memory protection (if a program allocates its data in memory occupied by data from another program, or even overwrite memory allocated by another program itself, then the system crashes)  ;026

Actually AmigaOS 4.0 had gained virtualization and Memory protection, but you can't use it, due to old programs of Amiga (many are still used) don't support it.

So the next version of AmigaOS will introduce a sandbox, in which old programs will run, with their address space.

Then if old programs will overwrite memory and crash, then it will crash only the sandbox, and not the entire system.

Again Amiga it is beautiful because it has multitasking preemptive capabilities (round-robin algorythm), with message passing without made use of MMU (it not existed MMU when AmigaOS was created), full 32bit design.

If unluckily a program crashes and take down the machine, it reboots in lesser than 5/10 seconds.

It has not secrets, and does not spies you user, as Windows with Windows media Player...

Does not run unwanted services hidden in Kernel space...

It requires no degree in Computer Science as Linux.

(you will learn how AmigaOS works in lesser than 2 or three hours.

You can made first modifies in the sequence of boot, and change its aspect and structure in less than a week.

And in less than 1 month, if you study it well, you are ready to do dirty tricks to the OS.)

it can be completerly personalized in the GUI interface, in the text interface (keyboard driven text interface DOS, or visual GUI interface Workbench are both inter-depending each other), or you can even choice an alternative GUI (Directory Opus, Scalos

Directory Opus evolved from being a lister window, with programmable buttons:

http://amiga.emucamp.com/diropus4_2.gif

To a complete environment in which you controls all the aspect of the OS,

http://wfmh.org.pl/projects/pl/img/galeria/dopus5.gif

And with DirOpus you could even use remote directories to copy files better than FTP...

The remote directories on internet are seen as they were remote peripherals...

http://amikit.amiga.sk/image/screenshot/amikit_10.jpg

See the assign window on the left of this image:

Into that window are listed assigned directories.

Into Amiga any directory could be assigned to became a virtual device, so, for example, you could assign yourdata directory to became yourdata: where colon ":" indicates that entire system will locate absolute your directory and introduced it into the load or save file requester of any program as it were a real hardware device.)

And mainly and finally... it is you that control the AmigaOS and say it to do what you want to...

...And it is not the opposite, that you are forced to accomplish what the OS wants from YOU, as happens into Windows.

Now, say me that this is too much lesser features for your tastes...

Dr. Mario

I know, that was why the Amiga OS was being disassembly, to perform coding surgery (to correct those heart-stopping problems - they even put in Long Mode coding) - I wasn't 100% sure until I try it on my Athlon 64 system (I do have a spare hard drive.)
