"Lost parody": Although I have never seen "Lost", that parody is extremely well done! Excellent choice of characters! Makes me want to draw parodies again--

NOOOOOOO! DON'T PUSH THAT BUTTON, PET-CHAN!!

PCLOS-tan chibi: And you've drawn your first chibi! Looks fantastic! PCLOS-tan looks she's having a rip-snortin' good time roundin' up some dogies! YEEHAW!!

Spike, RSTS/E-tan + RT11-tan pic: Return of some of the DEC-tans! However... uhh... What were all their relations to another again? All I remember is that RSX-tan is VMS-sama's mother and VAXELN-tan is VMS-sama's much younger sister ^^;

I'm glad you liked it, and I hope it made some sense :P

QuotePCLOS-tan chibi: And you've drawn your first chibi! Looks fantastic! PCLOS-tan looks she's having a rip-snortin' good time roundin' up some dogies! YEEHAW!!

I've actually had this concept floating around for a long time...I figured a chibified version would make it a lot cuter. And a bit easier to draw, too ;)

QuoteSpike, RSTS/E-tan + RT11-tan pic: Return of some of the DEC-tans! However... uhh... What were all their relations to another again? All I remember is that RSX-tan is VMS-sama's mother and VAXELN-tan is VMS-sama's much younger sister ^^;

I have no idea...I don't think anyone does. Except for the RSX line, the rest of the DECs are unrelated to each other.

But considering that RSX was a descendant of some system from the late 50s/early 60s, I guess they have some bloodline, just not one we're aware of...

Speaking of which, I've discovered some strange things about DEC's illegitimate cousin...an OS named AMOS! But I'll elaborate at the Theories thread...

C-Chan

*drops into thread*

[imitates Mac System 6-tan] I'll be back.  `v'

MOUNTED XD >:3

Also...
QuoteWhy yes actually. ^^
She happens to be my father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate. ^.^'
Allow me to fill that in for you, sempai.
- And that makes us...?
- ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Oh lowly owl XD
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

C-Chan

*applauds*  Very good, Nejin-san!  ^v^
And for that, you get delicious cakey.....

*pulls out random cake*

Awww gross!!!  X__X

Okay, let me try that again...  ^^;

*pulls out another random cake*

Better.  -v-

BTW, still waiting on the green light to make my rounds.
Please stand by for Standard-Issue C-chan Longwindedness.  ^___^

NejinOniwa

What amazes me is that someone actually made a cockroach cake... O_o
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

C-Chan

QuoteWhat amazes me is that someone actually made a cockroach cake... O_o

Well in fairness, I made one myself back in my youth.  Not as detailed, though.  ^^;

QuoteSpeaking of which...Oh noes! I did a Lost/OS-tan parody!

Wow!  That's so... unfamiliarly-awesome!  @v@;

QuoteI will try to explain this...because even if you've see the show you probably wouldn't know what the hell is going on in this pic...

*drools like vegetable*  XvX

QuotePanel one is a parody of last week's mindblowing episode, where it was revealed Desmond (who is parodied here by Leopard-chan), who developed the uncanny ability to see the future after an electromagnetic incident, has developed the even more uncanny ability to time-travel (in a sense...it's really just shifting his past consciousness to his future self...if that makes any sense). Faraday, a crackpot scientist (parodied by Slack-chan) discovered this power; and the electromagnetic anomaly that caused it all is being played by Coleco Adam-tan (self explanatory).

BWAHAHA!!  ^v^
Only Bella-sama would have such a disparate set of characters, from all walks of OS-tan life, feature in such a dynamic parody!  ^.^

Admittedly it was hard for me to tell that was Slack-chan and Adam-chan, but Leopard-chan's tail was unmistakable.  ^^

QuotePanel two features PET-tan as the season two microcomputer that controlled the electromagnetism of the island...and the fate of the world!

I still don't get the fate of the world thing,....  ^^'

PETchan certainly looks more adult, but her bangs don't have that cute upward hook (where her hair almost literally meets her mouth), and as an FYI, the metal brace on her hair actually encircles the entirety of her head.  ^^

Still,...

*ROTFLs at "PET of Death*  ^V^

QuoteAnd panel three is a parody of last season, when Danielle (parodied by VMS-sama) met her daughter Alex (parodied by NT-san), at the introduction of Alex's stepfather, Ben (parodied by "Father"). You see, Danielle was a respected scientist who was shipwrecked on the island. She had her baby daughter Alex abducted by the "Others", a mysterious group of natives, and she was raised by their leader (Ben), as his own. Danielle had since been on the island for over 16 years, and had become a bit mad...setting booby traps all over the island in an attempt to get revenge on her daughter's kidnappers. But last season she finally met her daughter. The situation reminds me a bit of the story of VMS-sama, NT-san, and "Father"....

No kidding.... ^v^

*brains explodes-in-thermonuclear-fashion trying decipher elaborate plot*

But there's no mistaking that VMS-sama looks awesome, and NT-sama looks,......... appropriately flabbergasted.... ^^

QuoteNo, I thank YOU, for writing so much about Unix-sama and letting me draw her (though I hold out hope we may someday see a C-Chan made Unix-sama)! Cause in my "preconcepts", I envisioned Unix-sama as a lot more goddess-like...in fact...my ideas for her were much more akin to Multics-sama.

Speaking of which, thank you for giving me ideas for Multics-sama and VMS-sama, cause I never would have drawn them without your help!

GAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!  WHAT POWER!!!!!!  XVX

*falls back in pain*

*struggles back up*  Butttt.......

....I won't,.... give up..........  XvX

I will,.... out appreciate,..... the Bella......  ^0^

[cliche Anime strength yell]  I ABSOLUTELY WILL OUT APPRECIATE HER!!!!!!!  ^V^

*mysterious light engulfs C-chan and infuses him with some unknown power from some unknown source that he probably shouldn't really trust*

No, I want to thank YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU for asking me so many questions about old OS-tans, which has helped get me off my lazy behind and actually publish my ideas out for wonderful, benevolent artists such as yourself to draw.  And I thank YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU for being so open-minded and giving old, alternative, and underappreciated OSes a chance, when so many people before you just kinda shrug their shoulders and draw whatever is popular "just cause".  ^______^

*stands on high cliff, glues on owl ears, douses self with blood, and wields about the MULTICS staff triumphantly in clear imitation of,... somebody*

QuoteSap overdose, eh?

I wish!  More like BORE overdoese.  TT;

QuoteI actually think CTSS-san's design would feature some red and blue; cause CTSS ran at MIT on two machines, called the Blue and Red machines :P

I have to think up a color scheme for her...the is another thing that's holding me back with finishing these ancient OS-tans... /quote]

Oooh!  How absolutely, positively convenient!  I tell you, it's Fate!  Fate that has led us to draw ever closer to CTSS-sama!!!  @v@

*goes off to download her source code to worship it*

QuoteOh yes, and have some chibi PCLOS-tan "mounted" on a 3GB HD:

CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;^0^;

And you're telling ME you can't draw CHIBIS?!!!  Now it's official,... your hesitance is a lame excuse.  TvT
Bella-sama is destined to be a great chibifier!  Resistence is Futile!  ^___^

The best thing about chibis is that they bypass hands and feet outright, allowing one to focus on making the most stunning (and least time-intensive) parts even better!

Just one note.... with PCLOS-sama it's okay, since she's a mellow character to begin with.  But other characters (certainly younger ones) will require a 30% increase in eye size for maximum cuteness.  ^.^

*in the process of lovin' wild n' derby PCLOS-sama*  ^V^

QuoteAnd here's Spike, RSTS/E and RT11-tan (don't let her small size fool you...RT11-tan is one of the oldest DEC-tans!)

How short is RSTS/E-tan?  After dealing with all the Damn Small-tans, all these self-professed "short" girls just don't cut it.
Course, they're not tall either under C-chan's definition, so I guess they're suspended in a kind of statuesque limbo called "Average".  TvT'

QuotePCLOS-tan chibi: And you've drawn your first chibi! Looks fantastic! PCLOS-tan looks she's having a rip-snortin' good time roundin' up some dogies! YEEHAW!!

YEEEEEEEEEHOWDY!!!  ^V^
Now to get SAM-chan in there too, so we can quickly and conveniently forget that I've supposed to have drafted her months ago.  ^____^;

QuoteI've actually had this concept floating around for a long time...I figured a chibified version would make it a lot cuter. And a bit easier to draw, too

Oh yeah, NOW you're DEFINITELY gonna be drawing chibis, girl....  TvT

QuoteSpeaking of which, I've discovered some strange things about DEC's illegitimate cousin...an OS named AMOS! But I'll elaborate at the Theories thread...

Where have all these old OS-tans been hiding at?!  @o@

Makes me wonder if a future Bella will be researching ancient Linux-tans, and uncover Ubuntu-sama illegitimate cousins, gOS and Linux Mint.  ^^;

Bella

QuoteMOUNTED XD >:3

That's the term for when a (Unix-like?) OS is connected to a storage device. And for someone who's sitting on a horse :P

Quote*applauds* Very good, Nejin-san! ^v^
And for that, you get delicious cakey.....

That first cake...makes me wanna be sick @__@

Admittedly it was hard for me to tell that was Slack-chan and Adam-chan, but Leopard-chan's tail was unmistakable. ^^

Well, the characters of Lost tend to be very disparate themselves (although, inexplicably linked in a lot of ways; like the Six Degrees of Separation)...so it works out well ;)

QuoteI still don't get the fate of the world thing,.... ^^'

Well, this week there was a computer that helped avert a possible disaster...so maybe I just like Lost for it's depiction of CLI-computers from the 70s as being powerful and relevant in the modern world XD

QuotePETchan certainly looks more adult, but her bangs don't have that cute upward hook (where her hair almost literally meets her mouth), and as an FYI, the metal brace on her hair actually encircles the entirety of her head. ^^

But, ya gotta admire my effort!

Quote*brains explodes-in-thermonuclear-fashion trying decipher elaborate plot*

But there's no mistaking that VMS-sama looks awesome, and NT-sama looks,......... appropriately flabbergasted.... ^^

I've been watching Lost since the first season, so to me it's not all that elaborate. At least not compared to the recurring plots implying rips in the space-time continuum, an impending apocalypse, ghosts, secret societies, massive cover-ups, etc etc... ;)

QuoteNo, I want to thank YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU for asking me so many questions about old OS-tans, which has helped get me off my lazy behind and actually publish my ideas out for wonderful, benevolent artists such as yourself to draw. QuoteOooh! How absolutely, positively convenient! I tell you, it's Fate! Fate that has led us to draw ever closer to CTSS-sama!!! @v@

I'll probably end up doing chibis of CTSS, GECOS, WAITS-tan etc. just to work out the coloring...

I thought her eyes might have been a bit too small...oh well. And yeah, hands and feet were always troublesome for me (to an extent)...

QuoteHow short is RSTS/E-tan? After dealing with all the Damn Small-tans, all these self-professed "short" girls just don't cut it.
Course, they're not tall either under C-chan's definition, so I guess they're suspended in a kind of statuesque limbo called "Average". TvT'

I don't think RSTS/E-tan would be short...more like tall/average (5' 7''). RT11-tan is quite short (maybe in the high 4' or low 5' range) and is physically a teenager, because RT 11 was a very small OS (I read it could even give Unix a run for it's money size-wise).

VMS-sama, on the other hand, I think would be at least 5' 9''...of course, my views on women's height may be a bit messed up...most of the girls my age are quite short to me, and I'm just a little over 5-and-a-half feet tall O__o

QuoteYEEEEEEEEEHOWDY!!! ^V^
Now to get SAM-chan in there too, so we can quickly and conveniently forget that I've supposed to have drafted her months ago. ^____^;

Course, SAM-chan could be riding a pen drive-pony :P

Oh c'mon, I already know about Ubuntu-san's kin ;)

Bella

OMG, I just noticed my new rank! ^_^

*goes into award show acceptance-speech mode*

I want to thank everyone and everything that has helped me get to this point! The Mods, C-Chan, my months of subtle puppydog eye begging, etc etc.

*starts crying*

I remember first hearing about VMS in a discussion, long ago, involving Windows NT-tan. I didn't give much thought to VMS at first...but the more I read about it, the more interesting it seemed. And when I started to investigate the little-known but undeniable link between it and NT, it started to serve as an explaination to me...an explaination for why Windows NT-based OSs weren't as sucky as MSDOS-based Windowses.

A year ago, I would have thought very little of any OS made in the 1970s, if only out of ignorance. But VMS is one of the systems that has proven to me that a well-built OS can be timeless.

Unlike the other OSs I've made long-winded change-of-rank speeches about, like XP, OS X, and Linux, I've really had no experience with VMS, unless you count some telneting...even then, I mostly just play a game or two. But I'd like to think that a little bit of VMS's legacy can be seen in my own XP machines, as well as any NT-based OS that can provide years of stable service.

Anyhoo...

Now I have to think of a witty thing to put in the location box (cause I like to match it with my rank)...something witty and suitably VMS-y...like, "in the nightmares of skiddies everywhere" or something.

But let's review...I have my Unix-sama-ism signature, my VMS-sama avatar, yeah there should be an matter/anti-matter explosion any time now XD

C-Chan

But PETchan,...you could Poke her and she'd be out for the ount.... ^v^;

QuoteI want to THANK YOU for thanking me!

*hangs on to dear life*

OMG!!!!!  WHAT POWAH!!!!!!!!!!  I UNDERESTIMATED YOU!!!!!!!!  I'M BESTED!!!!!  @V@

*C-chan gets propelled back by the power of Bella's appreciation*

Oh,.. tis a heatheous attempt to follow in UNIX-sama's footsteps.  ^^'

I'll reserve a couple of swoons for the momentous occasion!  ^___^

Aa sou sou.  ^__^
My definition of average ranges from 1'0" to 5'11", so they're just varying degrees of "averageness".  ^.^;
RT-11-san, physically, reminds me a bit of UNIX-sama.  ^^

QuoteVMS-sama, on the other hand, I think would be at least 5' 9''

Sounds bout right.  ^>^

By that you do mean, 5'6", no?  -v-
Hmm,... still baffled by this overabundance of short girls in your neck of the woods,....  There must be a correlation with something.... -.-

*ponders ponders ponders*

*shock*

MAC USAGE!!  @o@
That must be it!  You said everyone in your town uses Macs, yet your primary machine is an XP. Ergo,... you're average height, whereas all the other girls are short as molasses....  @.@'

I recall even Aurora-hime is about an inch shorter than you, so surely that proves my theory.  -v-
But I need a larger sample set, just to be sure.... ^__^

*sets Yaoi trap to try to ensnare Icelilly*

QuoteCourse, SAM-chan could be riding a pen drive-pony :P

*squeals with joy*  ^,^

Oh no, I meant another person like you 30-40 years from now. ^_____^

In all fairness, I don't think it is a Commodore; the terminal may look quite microcomputer-ish, but it seems to be hooked up to some larger machines, like minicomputers (and you might also notice anyone who uses a computer on this show does so by gunpoint):

(Mugen only comes with one character you have to download the rest that other people have made.)

Quote from: "Bella"Speaking of which...Oh noes! I did a Lost/OS-tan parody!

Oooh, interesting. I knew you'd do this eventually.

Panel 1: Much points to you for using Leopard-chan. ^_^

Panel 2: LOL "Pet of Death"
As if you actually need more spaceballs references here. But I just can't help but think of the end.
Dark Helmet: "Why is there always a self destruct button on these spaceships?"

Panel 3: *gasp* The whole VMS-NT thing is uncovered!

Oh and Congratulations to you Bella-san on reaching your new title.

I'm know I'm going to be sharkfood after I make this next comment.
But VMS-sama in that pic (the one your using in your avatar) kinda reminded me of Vega from street fighter.
