*DROOLS BY THE BUCKET LOAD*  *v*

Okay, gotta go now, but in the meantime can issue one of two things.... either a pile of rainchecks or an explosive swoon.

*picks and chooses*

Aw darn, this is gonna get painfuL!  ^v^

BTW, beautiful job on the shading, and by GAWD you have a gift for making funny-as-hell clipboards!  ^^

Oh, and glad you're helping with Inkscape prerelease testing.  ^.^

Bella

Is it the Fourth of July already?

Oh, that's not fireworks, it's just C-Chan :P

Aurora Borealis

That clipboard message is hilarious and very much in the spirit of the UserSpace Gang!  ;027

Bella

Thank you Aurora! Some of the lines I came up with on my own; others, like "We haven't seen the last of those weirdies" were quotes from Plan 9 from Outer Space.

Somehow, I think much like the characters in the aforementioned movie, Plan 9-san's speech would lack a certain eloquence that is usually present in most Unix-tans :P

C-Chan

Ah, and I was just in the midst of replying to this thread.  ^___^

*type type type*

Added after 33 minutes:

And lost stop in my visiting hours..... ^.^

QuoteInsecure, puffy Linux-sama?! I guess that's a good description...we should all be glad she decided to stop trying to be a Unix-clone and be herself.

In retrospect, the "puffy" part begs for a "LOL".  ^__^

QuoteI was actually inspired by your VMS-sama picture when I did the hair, so I really have to thank you for that part

No, thank YOU for inspiring me to add more realistic elements to my drawings.  Your cloth drapery especially got me thinking in terms of how better to enhance photorealistic effects, at least within a limited time frame.  ^__^

QuoteI see what you mean about the feet...

I think just harkening back to our PCLOS-tan pic will give you an idea about how, I think, you can approach it.  It's just a matter of getting the right angle, the right size, and the right level of fullness.  It's especially helpful to think about what would be the most comfortable for the character to walk on.

QuoteYa browbeat me into it :P

I dunno if it's .46 or .45.1, though. I downloaded what was called the ".45.1 and .46 pre-release"....So far, it seems faster than .45, and can handle much more blurring. Haven't tried exporting, yet...

The new features I'm a bit fuzzy on...the 3D box tool I see potential in, but some of the others...like the tweak and fill bucket tools...I don't quite get. Although, last summer I probably would have loved the fill bucket tool

True, the 3D box tool is a bit flakey, but apparently respresents a lot of the focus over the latest bug fix.  The tweak tool, I think, is awesome, especially if you plan to draw organic shapes!  ^v^

I'm also pleased to announce that they have a new prerelease available, AND have begun their development Freeze, meaning it's only a matter of days before 0.46 is officially here!!!  ^V^

*savors the thought*

QuoteAirheadedness! I have a zero-tolerance airheadedness policy! XD

Okay, then how about extreme naivity?  ^___^;

QuoteYes, but giraffes, fish, olives, kitties, monkeys and bugs don't have tentacles! Heehee...

But if you think about Multics-sama, she herself was a snowy owl and/or eagle. So she started the trend :P

I rest my case,... the entire lineage doth belongeth in a zooth.  ^^;

But that begs the question.......... was/is CTSS-sama some kind of critter too?  ^.^

QuoteSeriously, I've been meaning to make this signature even since we decided Unix-sama-ism was to be a pseudoreligion XD

No, it was a fantastic idea, if a little underpopulated.  We need a cast of characters of sorts.  ^___^

QuoteHere, have a Plan B and Octopus-tan...

*SWOONS*

Did I mention before how awesome this picture is?  ^________^
No seriously, the sketch gave it charm, the lighting gave it beauty,... dare I say it....?  "Bella-ness".  ^v^

I'm very happy to see a bit of colored lighting along Plan B-tan's left side, and the gloss applied to Octo-chan's hair is as exquisite as a good wine.  ^___^
This, along with other things, cements your status as artistic superstar in my mind.  ^.^

*staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaares*  *v*

QuoteAnd just for those eagle-eyed viewers who wonder what's on Plan B-tan's clipboard. She writes down everything Plan 9-tan says without exception: /quote]

QuoteThe, "I won't see anything I haven't seen before" comment is an allusion to Plan B being a clone of Plan 9 and therefore being an exact body-copy. Nothing more than that XD

*ROTFLOL*  ^V^

It's even funnier seeing it again.  And between you and Aurora, you nailed Plan B-tan's personality to the letter!  For the record, she even records retractions, as in.... ^____^

9:45-OH FSCK!!!  MY ROCKET!!!!
9:46-PLAN B, OMIT THAT LAST PART IMMEDIATELY!!!
9:47-Did you delete that?
9:48-The part where I say "Oh fsck, my rocket"?
9:49-Good! Can't have Inferno-chan reading such horrid profanity when you have her studying my notes.

And should've guessed that FreeB-chan would be out-and-about eating weird things.  ^.^

QuoteThank you Aurora! Some of the lines I came up with on my own; others, like "We haven't seen the last of those weirdies" were quotes from Plan 9 from Outer Space.

As sad as that sounds, I can vouch for the accuracy of that statement.  TvT;

Speaking of which, I'm thinking of starting a petition to have Bella-sama divulge more of the text that lies right behind Plan B-tan's breast.  Surely it's chock full of Easter Egg goodness!  ^-^

QuoteSomehow, I think much like the characters in the aforementioned movie, Plan 9-san's speech would lack a certain eloquence that is usually present in most Unix-tans :P/quote]

Correct.  She I think she TRIES to sound eloquent and learned, but ends up sounding hokey and silly, like a wannabe Shakespeare connoiseur.  ^__________________^;

Sometimes I wonder for myself, "Why am I no longer visiting this part of the forums as much as I once did?"
And I get these answers:
"In order to not swoon to death," and, "Because you've become lazy off 4chan reading short posts and thus think that it's totally unbearable reading all the stuff C-Chan and Bella is writing, you bastard". The second one (courtesy of Neige) is most likely the more accurate one. I'm a lazy bastard these days -__-;

Also, I'm sensing a need to 4koma-ize those notes, ma'am.
Luckily I'm sick today, so I can't get any NOSEBLEED ROCKET explosions. No need for swoonage here...nope...none at all...

...oh what am i resisting for anyway.
*MEGASSA SWOONAGE YO*

Don't give me that...I thank you for showing me the means to make my artwork the best it could be (as in Inkscape) :P

*prolongs thank you-battle*

You gotta deal!

*shakes hand. Or hoof. Whatever*

QuoteI rest my case,... the entire lineage doth belongeth in a zooth. ^^;

But that begs the question.......... was/is CTSS-sama some kind of critter too? ^.^

Well, CTSS-sama I have no anthropomorphism for...I'll have to think up one (something graceful, delicate and elegant)...

I know that the infamous Unix-sama mentor/Multics-sama tormentor (had to throw that in there) GECOS-san could be a lion, which fits her personality well.

Or if you want to go with a...albeit mythical...avian reference, a Phoenix (which could fit as she's been alive and working for, like, forty-some years @__@)

QuoteNo, it was a fantastic idea, if a little underpopulated. We need a cast of characters of sorts. ^___^

Brother C-Chan speakith the truth!

I should note, the highlighting on Plan B-tan is coming from Inferno-chan's fire. Or something like that (she's looking longingly at her Plan 9-san, BTW).

I'm planning on combining the two pictures, and drawing a background. Like the deck of a futuristic spaceship/retro living room (think, like the interior of one of those "spaceship-houses") with plenty of killer space-bunnies and prinnie Tuxes XD

Well...I did kinda make it so that the lines wouldn't be hidden...so there's not a ton you're missing.

But, there is:

10:45-For the last time I told you not to eat my bunnies.
10:57-Well, if worse is better, you're perfect!
11:15-I'll bet we haven't see the last of those weirdies!
11:26-I don't like seeing seeing fires started, especially where there aren't supposed to be any! (a parody of a line from Plan 9 from Outer Space)

The second one (courtesy of Neige) is most likely the more accurate one. I'm a lazy bastard these days -__-;

Oh yeah, I figured you probably ended up needing a transfusion after that last massive Multics-sama caused nosebleed :P

But I can sympathize with you having to read our huge posts! I mean, between the two of us we could have written the sequel to War and Peace...

So, I say we should institute "Huge Post CliffNotes", where we summarize an entire, likely welteringly sappy and complex post, into an quick-to-read format!

Notes on some topics from the Theories thread:
-OMGWTF Multics-sama's early psychotic instablity caused Unix-sama to be made!
-Windows NT (WNT)-tan is just VMS-tan + 1 letter! And with a shorter dress and better endowment!
-Coke and Pepsi is the same thing! Wake up people!

QuoteAlso, I'm sensing a need to 4koma-ize those notes, ma'am.

Hey, I thought the same thing! I just might have to...

I'm thinking she should maintain herself with avian personifications, and true still be graceful, delicate and elegant.  But I also want her to have just a touch of humility as well.

I've always thought pheasants were kind of graceful in a way.

Combine that with her asian influence, and you have....

A Chinese Golden Pheasant.  ^^

Awww... what a nice clone.  ^___^
Not sure if that same love and admiration would translate to Inferno-chan as well, but Octo-chan at least would love her to bits like a sister (although technically they would be like sisters... kinda/sorta/maybe... ^^;).

Anyhoo, I found the Japanese site for Merlin-chan.

I wonder, though, are any of these pix an OS/2-tan? Cause there were some pix of...gasp...NT-san, as an...OMG...bunnygirl!

At any rate, I'm thinking of doing a very artsy picture (more like a background) featuring OS/2-tan and NT-tan...

Actually that isn't an OS/2-tan like I at first thought. She's a magical girl who gets her power from OS/2. And the NT girl I assume gets her power from Windows NT but I'm not completely sure. No scandal there because they're not really OS-tans and the series was made in 2000-2001, well before the OS-tans!

Really?  I sure hope so, cause so far, aside from seeing Sakura and Tomoyo again, it's kinda disappointing. T___T

Aside from the fact that Mac-tan is taller, she has WAY more market appeal to begin with.  Besides, I think your source fource Vista take is already a million times better than the original, post-LEGO infringing design.  ^.^'

It's as Aurora-hime says.  In fact our old friend Achain explained that in his brief visit here to this forum -- that Merlin-chan is just a girl that got her magical powers from OS/2.  Still, if you tilt your head at a certain angle, you COULD at least think of her as a kind of proto-OS-tan....  Kinda, sorta, maybe.... ^^;

I'm not really so sure -- when it comes to cloning, you really do blur the distinction between daughter and sibling, since a clone is literally a genetic copy of you.

Then again, supposing Aurora-hime were operating under what I call the "Jango Fett Principle", meaning that Plan B-tan IS a daughter precisely because she was created as a partial clone, and intentionally left to grow in a normal life cycle (Plan B-tan likely had her brief childhood phase).  In which case, Octopus-chan is also the same, and could very well be Inferno-chan's niece.  @___@;

.........

*imagines sugar-sweet moments of a young Inferno-chan pretending to be an aunt to an even YOUNGER Octopus-tan*

And if you heard a popping sound just now, that was the sound of my brain exploding from sugar-sensory overload.  ^_________^;

QuoteSomeone needs to watch more SpaceBalls. Consider it vengeance for all those Lost and other contemporary pop-culture references I can never understand... fufufu... ^>^

Speaking of which...Oh noes! I did a Lost/OS-tan parody!

I will try to explain this...because even if you've see the show you probably wouldn't know what the hell is going on in this pic...

Panel one is a parody of last week's mindblowing episode, where it was revealed Desmond (who is parodied here by Leopard-chan), who developed the uncanny ability to see the future after an electromagnetic incident, has developed the even more uncanny ability to time-travel (in a sense...it's really just shifting his past consciousness to his future self...if that makes any sense). Faraday, a crackpot scientist (parodied by Slack-chan) discovered this power; and the electromagnetic anomaly that caused it all is being played by Coleco Adam-tan (self explanatory).

Panel two features PET-tan as the season two microcomputer that controlled the electromagnetism of the island...and the fate of the world!

And panel three is a parody of last season, when Danielle (parodied by VMS-sama) met her daughter Alex (parodied by NT-san), at the introduction of Alex's stepfather, Ben (parodied by "Father"). You see, Danielle was a respected scientist who was shipwrecked on the island. She had her baby daughter Alex abducted by the "Others", a mysterious group of natives, and she was raised by their leader (Ben), as his own. Danielle had since been on the island for over 16 years, and had become a bit mad...setting booby traps all over the island in an attempt to get revenge  on her daughter's kidnappers. But last season she finally met her daughter. The situation reminds me a bit of the story of VMS-sama, NT-san, and "Father"....

Okay, hope that clears things up. XD

No, I thank YOU, for writing so much about Unix-sama and letting me draw her (though I hold out hope we may someday see a C-Chan made Unix-sama)! Cause in my "preconcepts", I envisioned Unix-sama as a lot more goddess-like...in fact...my ideas for her were much more akin to Multics-sama.

Speaking of which, thank you for giving me ideas for Multics-sama and VMS-sama, cause I never would have drawn them without your help!

I actually think CTSS-san's design would feature some red and blue; cause CTSS ran at MIT on two machines, called the Blue and Red machines :P

I have to think up a color scheme for her...the is another thing that's holding me back with finishing these ancient OS-tans...

QuoteAside from the fact that Mac-tan is taller, she has WAY more market appeal to begin with. Besides, I think your source fource Vista take is already a million times better than the original, post-LEGO infringing design. ^.^

I figured Vista-sensei would be a bit short. Like Chuck Norris XD

QuoteI'm not really so sure -- when it comes to cloning, you really do blur the distinction between daughter and sibling, since a clone is literally a genetic copy of you.

Then again, supposing Aurora-hime were operating under what I call the "Jango Fett Principle", meaning that Plan B-tan IS a daughter precisely because she was created as a partial clone, and intentionally left to grow in a normal life cycle (Plan B-tan likely had her brief childhood phase). In which case, Octopus-chan is also the same, and could very well be Inferno-chan's niece. @___@;

.........

*imagines sugar-sweet moments of a young Inferno-chan pretending to be an aunt to an even YOUNGER Octopus-tan*

And if you heard a popping sound just now, that was the sound of my brain exploding from sugar-sensory overload. ^_________^;

This is why the world isn't ready for human cloning :P

Oh yes, and have some chibi PCLOS-tan "mounted" on a 3GB HD:

And here's Spike, RSTS/E and RT11-tan (don't let her small size fool you...RT11-tan is one of the oldest DEC-tans!)
