FAT always worked (well not exactly since 0.01 but it can be expected the same way ext2 support can be expected from every self-respecting Linux). NTFS used to make issues but that became good by now as well. My bro rescued the data from an NTFS harddisk which the windows wouldn't recognize with a live CD. (I normally refuse to touch anything windows so wouldn't know)

that's nice to hear, so I could get a Lnux-based dataserver to be accessed by a windows PC...

If you use a server and transport data over a network, the file system doesn't matter anyways.

Hello peoplez,
I'm back and packing something very.... large.... today.....

Contrary to what it may seem, I in fact DO NOT own a Mac.  I'm just babysitting this one for a friend of mine for about 3 months or so.  It's very great for watching movies while I work on my beloved EeePC's.  ^^
Functionality is not what I thought it would be, but I might just need some time to learn the ol' girl.  She's still *Nix based,... kinda.... ^.^

And to supplement the Penguin God's answer, the distribution I'm working for (EeePCLinuxOS) relies on a Fat32 partition to set up the Live environment + accompanying Changes File.  It works best given the limited space constraints of an EeePC 2G or 4G, although an 8G can comfortably support a normal install (or at a least a Poor Man's install with an Ext2/3 Changes partition).

OH MEH GAWDS IT'SA MAC! And you is stealing my background! ^_^

Don't worry C-Chan...there's no shame in a Linuxer moving to a Mac. I'll keep your secret :P

And oh, wow....VMS-sama gets out a lot...

Yes, I got beat by VMS in a game of....something...today. I'd be pissed to be beaten by any other OS, but VMS...now that's being beaten by the best!

Hi,

The one with the translucent windows is a picture I took years ago just to look fancy. I don't actually use terminal windows like that because it'd be too difficult for me to read; I use black text on white. At the time, I had the desktop background cycling between two images of  Panther-tanidentical pose but different in color and one had a tail I think, so the images faded back and forth slowly like portraits in Disneyland's haunted mansion (now the haunted gallery is back to lightning flashes). The lower right terminal window has a bunch of flower photos I'd taken of tulips and lilies, thus the filenames.

The image with all the widgets is to show you the Tiger-tan widget. You can change what she talks about. I changed it at one point to get words from a Tigertan BBS and I tried translating some of the Japanese using machine translation.  Since the latest mac OS is Leopard, she says things such as (going by memory), "I still love you... Tell me you love me!"

I don't normally have desktop icons so huge, but I wanted to show the Xenon design used to represent the hard drive. A friend mocked me for having a generic default computer name, so I re-named it after the Xenon pinball machine.

The pinball display shows what I'm working on, but it looks bad because all the graphics are simply placeholders and I'm working on the design itself.

Wow, more Mac users are crawling out of the woodwork too.  Guess I won't be alone (although I'm only a temporary Mac user).  ^^'

Well I am trying to find/build a "new" charger for my MacBook 190....
So I may join the Mac-group as well, maybe....

Added after 1 minutes:

BTW I will post my new dekstops when I get the MacBook working and after I installed Fedora... (need to install a new Harddisk first :D)

Added after 2 hours 6 minutes:

Okidoki... I inserted a Fedora-LiveCD and it totally sold me over (except for the DX-games, wich it probably will, and the WiFi, I'd post this from Fedora if she'd reckognize my onboard ASUS WiFi-AP-Solo...)
It took her a minute or two to deliver me a desktop that would take windows at least a good hour (excluding driver installments)...And she's installed most of my hardware as well... ;010

Those games are fun. Very primitive, but entertaining.

And I see you have Fedora running, Smokey!

Smokey

It is only a liveDistro, but i am prepping for a full install now... :D
all i have to do is init the brand-new 250GB Western Digital HDD I bought Fedora-sama (Only the best for my precious new OS... ;010) and get a form of IRC working on my (REALLY bugged) laptop...

Yeah!  Bella-sama has my old desktop!  ^___^

And it's blessed by MULTICS-sama, can't beat that.  ^.^

Course,... it seems you haven't enabled sound in Virtualbox, if that icon in the lower righthand corner is any indicator.....  ^^;

My fun new pastime.  ^^
