Let me reply quickly since I may not get back to this in a while....  -v-

Well, I've always thought of Windows CE-chan as kinda like Tinkerbell, who in turn is about the size of a doll.  Standard girl dolls (e.g., Barbie) are about 9" long, standard boy action figures roughly 5" or 6" long (at least in my day -- hear they're much smaller now to cut down on material cost... Ã,¬_Ã,¬)
1'6", however, is more like a Cabbage Patch thingie, so that would make for a very big girl-bug thingie with a USB wand. ^^;

9" sounds about right just for CE-chan, and since Kami-Tux says Minix is about the same size as her, she'd be 9" too.
My rendition of PalmOS is a genie, so she can change to any size if the situation requires it.  However, her baseline size is dependent on the size of her host's hand.  If 7'0" Barbie Linux were her host, surely Palm-chan could clock in a healthy 9" (or more) if Ekaterina Gamova or Katie Feenstra are anything to go by.  But if a kid like, say, Homeo were her host, she likely wouldn't surpass the 5" mark.

So my advice is to be even more abmitious with DSL's height.  Think Tom Thumb or (more appropriately) Thumbelina.

And SUSE-tan wears a swimsuit with an iguana tail on it. Her being a costume fanatic sounds like a good idea- perfect chance for various crossovers, parodies and cosplay! But what would happen if the other characters found her secret? That could be an interesting plot twist!

There you go!  That's the spirit!  It does make for interesting plot premises on Galaxy Angel, I can certainly vouch for that!  ^.^

And I was curiously wondering (whoo-hoo! redundancy!), is Barbie-tan your new favorite now?

If she weren't, I'd suffer a Love Paradox.  Then my brain and heart would explode simultaneously, and take the rest of the universe with it.  ^^'

Also like the discussions about her on the internet threads.  Seems the sentiments from the Linux community are mixed,... on the one hand, it's great young girls are being exposed to Linux, but on the other hand, BarbieOS just... doesn't.... sound... cool.  Certainly I have to forfeit a bit of my own masculinity just mentioning her.  ^^;

Now then, onto the -tans!  ^v^

Mandriva:  Cool, though noticed you dropped the Sabrina look.  That's fine, though, since you did focus on her relationship with Mandrake, and besides the hair color is a great addition.  Love Juzo-kun's work, but I did note that her hairstyles sure could use some... "diversity".  ^__^

Fedora:  Great!  She's cute!  She passed the test!  'v'
Yeah, I know the version you're talking about, and was hoping (like I said before) to envision a Fedora-chan that had a Juzo-kun style uniform (with some modifications to make it look more secret agen--,... er, "clandestine" ^__^') and the silver hair w/pigtails from the Niijura version.  Now that you've done something like it, her future as an agent, side-by-side with Redhat-tan, is secure.  ^.^

And certainly the costume feitsh is not proprietary to Galaxy Angel only (I've also seen it done in 'Vandread')-- just mentioned it since it's the funniest example of a closeted costume freak.  ^__^

Leopard-tan! Her character design combines 1950's style with futuristic and with her pocketwatch, she can timetravel! (and by the way, her hair style is supposed to have a ponytail in it, but can't be seen from that angle) She's a messenger from the future (because Leopard hasn't been released yet) and incorporates references and parodies from other shows and serises or even maybe cause some weird time paradoxes.

Certainly the time-travel bit is a clever way to release a design even if the OS hasn't been released yet.  ^__^
That way, if the final version (or name, as in the case of Longhorn vs Vista) ends up being very different, you could use a time paradox to explain the disparity.  ^.^

I've counted all the "character designs for OS-tans that I made" chibis, and I've done 18 so far! I don't know how many more I can think of, but I know I'll push the 20-mark though!

Characters I've considered drawing next: Palm OS-tan, Mugshot-tan, MS Bob-tan, GEM-tan, Mac OS 8-tan (because there's a System 7-tan and an OS 9-tan but no OS 8-tan? Or at least not one I know of)

May even post old OS-tan character designs next time!

And although I know a lot about Macs, I can't make OS-tans for Systems 2-5 because they don't have any codenames (that I could make puns of or such) and their GUI is pretty much the same as System 1's (well, actually all Macintosh systems below Mac OS 8 look somewhat like System 1)

1. Macintosh System 6.0.8 "Terminator"-tan is a terminator (obviously- knew that already) that wasn't programmed to show sympathy, caring or empathy. To generally all situations she responds (sarcastically) "Big deal!" And "Big deal" is also the codename of Macintosh System 6.0.5.

And to make a reference to Six Pack, Macintosh System 6.0.6's codename, I was thinking she either drinks apple cider by the 6 pack or is nagged by a ghostly bartender who represents 6.0.6- which was never released. Unsure how to make a reference to Antares, System 6.0.4's codename though.

Terminator-tan also borders between good and evil because "terminator" can also mean the boundary between the light and dark sides of the moon. Light side and dark side ---> Good and evil.  She's confused about this and about the fact that she can't care about anything. On top of that, she's crazy and likes to blast things! All I got to say is that she's going to be one interesting character!

2. As C-chan suggested, Solaris-tan is very powerful and puts others in their place when needed. Of course she still runs her java shop! ^^

3. System 7-tan is also a very bad gamer. Anyone heard of the Pippin, a videogame console that Apple helped make? The Pippin ran a modified version of System 7 and well... the Pippin failed miserably! Poor System 7-tan!

4. QNX Neutrino-tan has a mad scientist side to her personality!  ;006

5. Should AOL-tan become a pervert? Because she sends (may or may not be accidentally) porn- as well as e-mail to Toshiaki!

6. NeXTSTEP-tan likes bug collecting and weilds some guns as well. Thanky you C-chan for suggesting this also!

7. Tinfoil Hat-tan also fears zombies. She doesn't fear hackers though.

8. GEM-tan is deceased. Macintosh System 1-tan's actions against her led to her eventual demise. Reference to Apple's lawsuit against Digital Research (the company that made GEM)

Well again, you don't really have to mention every single release.  Unless you plan to focus on Terminator-san for many pages, just letting her be herself is fine and the other releases are implied.  ^__^

Yeah, I like the idea of her keeping a job that seems completely disproportionate to the amount of power that she wields.  ^.^
Keeps returning customers well-behaved.  I can also just imagine a situtation where a n00bie comes in, calls her over by a demeaning nickname and then see the rest of the shop's customers vacate IMMEDIATELY as if it were some Western saloon.

I'm sure she and Plan 9-tan will NOT get along one bit.  Plan 9, conversely, is a zombie freak.  You'd have to watch "Plan 9 from Outer Space" to understand why....  -v-'

But in any case, yes, the original GEM GUI was terminated after said debacle.  Thankfully, the GEM line still lives on at least in her reincarnation, GEM OS-tan (or "OpenGEM" or "FreeGEM").  
I'll be sure to give her an extreme loathing of Macs just for that.  -v-'

I could try my luck at a Macintosh System 3 or 4-tan, whichever was current around the time of Windows 2, but Windows 2-tan wouldn't be happy about that!

QNX Neutrino-tan is in the Anti$oft Coalition? I didn't know that QNX Neutrino-tan would have anything against Windows! But then again, She did shoot ME-tan with a tranquilizer gun in zerOSanity because she was in a panic attack, but maybe there could have been another reason for that... Hmmm...

And as for some n00bie coming into Solaris-tan's cafe and being mean with some potentially destructive results... That'd be an awesome idea! I can picture it now!

    n00b: Hey, you lazy broad! I asked for coffee 30 seconds ago and I still don't have my coffee! You're a hopeless cause!

Terminator-tan having the personality change I mentioned I thought would be interesting because it's a reference to another 6.0.x codename and also has a lot of potential for a crazy plot twist (zerOSanity gains a plot?!) I thought of that'd happen much later on.

QNX is in the A$C since that's where I had her in the original story drafts.  I didn't have a design concept for her, though, so I'll use yours if that's okay with you.  -v-
And you're right, in fact none of the other girls in the A$C (aside from OS2, and maybe eCS) have anything personal against the Windows-tans.  

- RISC is on board since she's a long-time friend of OS/2.
- Tandy is on board since the A$C members are the only ones who can... stand her.... Ã,¬Ã,¬'
- QNX is there because she's bored and likes to help the underdog.

So that's a big reason why they're fairly incompetent when it comes to attacks - even though they do try to help, they simply don't have OS/2's bloodlust.  And no other other OS-tan that holds a grudge against Windows can stand OS/2-tan's,... well,... temperment..... ^__^

Plus OS/2 is a big Star Trek buff, so QNX gives her an excuse to call anyone "Q".  -v-

Palm OS-tan. She's a little fairy like CE-tan and they're also coworkers! They don't fight each other anymore but may still have some issues to settle. She's a flight attendant and pilot- referring to Palm Pilot. But what kind of accessories or items should she have?


Mac OS 8-tan. She's battle-scarred and almost ended up a casualty. She was the current Mac OS when Apple was at its worst, but also current when Apple began to make a comeback. She survived but it cost her an arm and a leg! Pun somewhat intended as she has has an Automail arm and leg, reference to Fullmetal Alchemist, but her Automail (, headband and bracelet) are made of platinum, referring to the Platinum interface of OS 8 and OS 9. OS 8-tan is also known as Veronica (which is the codename of 8.6). Despite the hardships she endured, she is very cheerful because she's just glad to be alive! She also saved her cousin or halfsister, NeXTSTEP-tan when she was at the brink of dying even though trying to save her was potentially suicidal. However, BE OS-tan (no, I don't have any ideas for a BE OS-tan. sorry.) also in serious need of help, but OS 8-tan ended up leaving her to die. (Good gosh! What's up with these Mac OS girls leading others to their demise?!)
