Poor SleepyD and his exploding brain.... ^__^

Please take care of it as best you can,... after all, you still have your OS/2-tan final render in there.  ^.^

[Hehehe,... "multi-tasking"  ^v^]

Thanks, both of you! ^^

Be OS is still alive?! But didn't Be go out of business?

Yes, Palm OS-tan will have a stylus pen. Sounds good!

And something funny I forgot to mention: My first idea for a Mac OS 8-tan was going to be an old school rapper girl! Because OS 8 is one of the classic Mac OSes and I would have incorporated the platinum interface with the usage of platinum jewelry. Lots of platinum! But then I thought the "battle-scarred girl with automail and bandages" version was better because I could mention her being the current OS when Apple was at their worst but survived.

And here's MS Bob-tan! A dog girl maid whose clumsiness rivals ME-tans! She's an anthro version of Rover, the dog introduced in Bob (who also appears in XP!) and she wears metal armbands and legbands made out of paper clips, reference to one of Microsoft's best known mascots, Clippy the paper clip and it's also makeshift jewelry because MS Bob was far from professional! The big thick glasses are from the Bob logo. She ran away from home when 95-tan's popularity left Bob-tan living in her shadow to fade into obscurity. She's of the wandering class and can never return home. She wants revenge on 95-tan. Macintosh System 7-tan has empathy for her, plenty of it too! Watch out 95-tan!  ;006 (but either one getting revenge is just a distant dream of theirs.)

Since you mentioned her clumsiness...this will surely be one of the known things around here since ME-tan is known for that thing.

But between ME-tan and Bob-tan, I wonder who is more clumsy and unreliable? Those two could become rivals and fight for that title! :D

And here's a Windows 3.2-tan!

Still have a couple more OS-tans to draw. Next time I upload some new ones oughta be the finale! :D

But it makes me kinda sad I'm nearing the new OS-tan finale though . It makes me happy that I've gotten a lot of responses and help in this thread though! Thank you everyone! ^_^

Oh yes, and C-chan, feel free to add them to the Annex!

C-chan is right! Captain is going to like her since the DOS kitty was there. Neat job!

Macintosh System 7-tan could also be in the A$C. Or at least allied with them. She wants revenge on the Windows-tans, especially 95-tan!

Anyways, 2 more OS-tans!

Palm OS-tan! She's a little fairy like CE-tan and they're also coworkers! They don't fight each other anymore but may still have some issues to settle. She's a flight attendant and pilot- referring to Palm Pilot. But what kind of accessories or items should she have?

Mac OS 8-tan. She's battle-scarred and almost ended up a casualty. She was the current Mac OS when Apple was at its worst, but also current when Apple began to make a comeback. She survived but it cost her an arm and a leg! Pun somewhat intended as she has has an Automail arm and leg, reference to Fullmetal Alchemist, but her Automail (, headband and bracelet) are made of platinum, referring to the Platinum interface of OS 8 and OS 9. OS 8-tan is also known as Veronica (which is the codename of 8.6). Despite the hardships she endured, she is very cheerful because she's just glad to be alive! She also saved her cousin or halfsister, NeXTSTEP-tan when she was at the brink of dying even though trying to save her was potentially suicidal. However, BE OS-tan (no, I don't have any ideas for a BE OS-tan. sorry.) also in serious need of help, but OS 8-tan ended up leaving her to die. (Good gosh! What's up with these Mac OS girls leading others to their demise?!)

Thanks for the "Tempo-tan" (even though I used the Allegro version once) Ms. Borealis. I remembered that as the first MacOS we used on highschool although, the  sad thing is that after a month the school used Win98SE instead.

But 3 years after, I also remember the school uses both Win2k and MacOS9, just like the school uses both WinXP and MacOSX today (someone also told me that they also installed some Linux on some computer labs).

Thanks for this tribute for Tempo-tan Ms. Borealis! Great job for the explanation of its history and its feelings toward then... ;019

It always brings me a smile to download your work, Aurora Borealis.
But how are you going to make up for all the space it takes to save your images
^.-

lol, just keep making them and I'll keep downloading them.
As long as I have enough space >.>

QuoteC-chan is right! Captain is going to like her since the DOS kitty was there. Neat job!

Hehe, if the poor Captain shows up.  No one has heard from him in a while, and he never mentioned anything about redeployment... '_'

As far as the space goes, I'm sure Aurora's okay.  ^__^
Ample website storage these days and good image compression will probably guarantee she won't run out of it for a while.  Besides, worst case scenario, we can always ask Pitkin to open up her own folder in the Gallery section.  ^.^
Once uploaded there, the images should be linkable throughout the forum.  ^v^

Hehe, btw Aurora-san, I know you have my request...  ^_-
Out of ideas at the moment, though, but should not that I eventually decided to make DarwinOS a separate OS-tan after all.

Turns out there's an active moment to turn that mere template for the OSX platform into its own full-fledged system for hobbyists and the like.
In other words, she's weak now, but actively gaining her own autonomy.
Should be a good friend to NextSTEP-tan and all the Mac girls.

C-Chan

Actually, based on the discussion at the Annex, the -tan conversion debate is losing strength.  So you really can keep the -tan suffix if you'd like, although nicknames wouldn't be a bad idea anyway.  ^__^

Thank you, btw... ^_~

And  another thing I considered is redrawing Bob-tan so that she also wears a hard hat because she's very clumsy and it can also be a reference to Bob the Builder!  ;006

And I'm mostly done with your request, C-Chan.

Here you go, C-Chan! Request complete! Her eyes and the logo on her hat seemed hard to color in at first, but thank goodness for the gradient tool! Anyways, I hope you like how she turned out!

C-Chan

GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ^V^

If I could divide myself into four other selves, this would be the perfect picture for how I feel right now....

ARIGATOU, AURORA-SAMA!!!!!!!!  ^V^

She came out perfectly!!!  ^.^
And now the Wiki purists won't stand a chance!  ^v^

Trust me when I say I'm gonna wear your masterpiece with pride!  ^V^

*runs off to fire up Photoshop*

NewYinzer

Yes! Very good Aurora and C-Chan! And C-Chan...you changed your avatar! All happening so fast...
*swoons*
Komenosai! I've had a hard day at school. I fell down a hill wet with dew twice and ended up right on my ass both times! But things have improved! Some of my torrents have finally finished! Anyway, it's late. I better get to bed. See yinz tomorrow!

C-Chan

Uh-huh, thanks to Aurora-sama, my avi now has a much-needed infusion of "Kawaii"ness to it!  ^.^

Now to hold my end of the bargain....  -v-

*begins groundwork for OSX kitty girl Wiki avis*

Oh, and without further ado....  -.-

Oh, and in other Awesome Aurora-sama news....

QuoteBarbie's actual life size proportions would be a a height of 7'3 with a 15-inch waist! So Barbie-tan is now 7'3, up from 7'0! But the 15-inch waist part, nah. Not going to do that. I can draw fairly skinny characters but a 15-inch waist would be waaaaayyy to hard to draw! (and look weird. I've seen a picture online of a real person with a 15-inch waist!)

Gyah-haha!  That's taller than MaÃ...‚gorzata Dydek!  ^v^
And yes, I too second the motion to just inherit the life-size height proportion, and do away with those ridiculously small extremeties that have ruined the lives of enough impressionable young girls already....  -v-

Aurora-sama, if all this doesn't guarantee you stay on that list for days to come, I don't know what else can!  ^v^

Yippeeee! Glad you like it! And that should show the Wiki-purists! I also wouldn't want to see your rendition of Amiga-tan get dismissed by them for whatever reason. Can someone enlighten me as to what exactly this Wiki-purist issue is?

And any other requests?

C-Chan

Might be a non-issue now since it's way past the heyday of the OS-tan phenomenon.  But back in "the day", the contributors to the first "List of OS-tan" articles were very strict about who belonged on the main article.  A lot of one-shots were removed, the Moezilla (Firefox-tan, Thunderbird-tan, etc.) were shoved off to a separate article, and Windows 95 OSR 2.5 as well as Juzo-kun's renditions were placed under crosshairs for a while.

They might be gone, but fearing a return I did my best to salvage at least 95 OSR 2.5-sama (by drawing my own rendition of her in my PalmOS pic) and and 3.11-sama.  (Plus had NewYinzer upload those avi's, assuming they make the OS-tan look  more "official".... ^__^)

I'll do the same for the OSX kitties, although they have the luxury of not being one-shots.  ^__^

Amiga-tan was a stretch since she was only made by one artist, had only two pics, and was a non-Futaba creation.  But now with four pics, a Wiki avi, and the kind help of a lovely second artist, we now have enough ammunition to withstand any challenge.  `v'

Indeed, this is a good test run,....
If we ever want our new OS-tans to make it into Wiki, clearly we need to work together to make it happen.  And that means helping Juzo-kun out as well, like you have.  ^__^

MisterCat

I don't know the first thing about all the history behind the OS Girls phenomenon, neither what's what nor who's who faction-wise, but as an interested man-on-the-cyberstreet observer I enthusiastically declare my admiration of Aurora's work!  I also admire the work done by [insert names of all our board members who've directly contributed to the well-being of OS Girls*] and am happy to occupy my observer's seat here in an unlit corner of the OS Girls Research and Development Center.

Excellent, more Amiga-tan.    ;010     One can never have enough Amiga-tan.   Cool stuff!   And keep drawing, you're doing great!
