That's a very-good question, CaptBrenden.  (Can I drop the "sir"?)  My present theory, which could change at any time, is that this computing-system's longevity under Windows Millennium Edition is due in large measure to purposeful neglect.

Oh, I run all the usual diagnostic and fix-it programs on a regular basis.  I'm generally polite to the software and only occasionally curse and swear at it.  However, I keep a hammer next to the monitor; and although that's purely a psychological tactic, as I never intend to actually use it, I believe it has a positive effect upon the operating-system's stability.

Mostly, though, I'd say it's the "environmental factors" which have kept ME-tan more or less satisfied all these years.  For instance, I live right next to a very-busy street.  Hence, all manner of crap in suspension comes drifting in through the windows on either side of the computing system; and it settles into all the components.

That would be, I should think, a terrible condition in the view of most people.  But ME-tan doesn't seem to mind a bit.  In fact, I think she likes it!  Also, there are cats:  two of them.  They shed.  I'm not as big on vacuuming as I should be, so lots of cat hair ends up finding its way into the central processing unit (which lives on the floor).

Furthermore, this room where my computing system lives is the hottest room in summer.  I fully expect to come in here one day to find the computing system reduced to a formless blob, with some wires sticking out of it.  No complaints are ever forthcoming from ME-tan!

Perhaps she's a tomboy at heart, who likes to play in dirt and laughs at temperature extremes.  I don't know; and I'm not going to ask her!

Hi to everyone, its been real nice to find a whole site dedicated to the OS-Tans.
I've always been interested in them since i found a pic of 2K-tan a few years back, and that has lead me here.
About me, my name is from my old streetracer when i was younger and dumber.
I've spent 8 years in the army and now i work for the federal government. I've been a anime fan for over 20 years, and the OS-tans really hit the "I like this" center in my brain.

Nice to meet ya'lls aquaintance  ;hi

this is one great site  ;019

CaptBrenden

Welcome, littleredblurr! Welcome to our humble hamlet! Oh, and Captain, did the Thought Police come for you? They came for my old friend Mike a few days ago. Not a pretty story...

MisterCat

Hello, littleredblurr!  Welcome!  I'm new here, too.

;hi

So, you spent eight years in the Army!  Back in remotest antiquity, I spent time in the Air Farce:  One enlistment was plenty for me, but at least the work was challenging.  My elder brother was in the Army; and he got out about the time I went in.

Neither did I, CaptBrenden, until I innocently wandered into the induction center.  I thought after I'd bitten the guy who asked me to turn my head and cough, they'd simply throw me out.  But, no!  Next thing I knew, I was in basic training....

Hmm...Air Force, eh? Never really considered a military career...

CaptBrenden

Ehh...not a fighting guy. Anyway, do we have any new members (not counting the phentermine trolls, whom I refer to as the PHTs)?

SleepyD

so many people joining.... X3

heyo 95Direct, hope you enjoy your time here! hm.. last year of college, eh? Jeff (me) is entering his first. hah

and welcome to littlered too!

hm... military careers... I considered it... and... I kinda still am considering it. As a young kid I wanted to be a pilot. But, these glasses ended that prospect. So, i decided I'll go make the freakin things they fly. muahaha. Hm... wonder what aerospace engineers would do for the military... I mean, I understand working for companies that make military stuffs... Surely I won't be a mechanic.  would I? hah *ponders*

CaptBrenden

well you could go defence contrator, working for a compnay that makes military hardware, but if you joined the actuall military you would be fixing it.  the military itself dosent build or design the stuff.
