I wish that was on my PC... The closest I have is when I turn on my comp it opens up the Flash File of her... -_- Which I have to close manually over time... because it loops and gets annoying no matter how cute it is.

INDEED IT IS! hoax or not..i am currently myself am on a quest to make this hoax 'do-able' if not.. then i will investigate how that 'hoax' was pulled off and share it here 1st

not bad crazy.. i dl it and scan it it's clean! and the word ballon is in japanese.. least you can move her around the botton of ya screen left to right and etc.. but ya have to manually kill it from task manager.

i assume it uses a flash file to play and she tays on top of any app.. right click her with mouse hides desktop task bar and icons but thats all it seems to do.. my question is for fedora.. that wikiped-tan widget, how can i use it with yahoo widgets? do i need to submit the contents to yahoo widgets? or has someone already have? i downloaded the copy placed here and yet to figure out how to use it

Be it is real or not, it can be made. Just as easily as custom editions of XP. For example, I have seen a Windows XP Scarface Edition.

i have discovered what is readily available to windows xp, is an active desktop, which if i wished to use this forum as my desktop.. i can! so, that said, if anyone can get the animation from the xp-tan videos, sans the icons already as seen in the videos found in the downloads, that will be cool, i'll then make a .swf file with it, embed it on a html doc, host it.. and share it! then we can all have this 'trick' and submit maybe the .swf & html for downloads so others can host and etc..
Added after 8 minutes:

i did a test with one of the movieclips found here @ our downloads section, converted it with SoThink Encoder for Adobe Flash [ demo version..sux, cuz it will show a scrolling etc.. this was made with etc.. @ top -- anyone have a keygen? hehehe..] which made the .swf and a html doc .. i hosted it to my site [ see sig ] and used desktop properties.. selected tab desktop, then customize desktop then the 'web' tab, added NEW url [ default will have your homepage there] to my swf embeded in an html doc, and it POOF! the same one everyone seen.. as someone stated since it is a short clip, it loops .. the short clip over and over..maybe make a short .swf with a timed 7 minute one that just has her do a lil wink etc.. something do-able...
but i am no expert on flash etc.. and my movie editing is still amaturish... soif anyone has ideas let us all know in this thread!

Here is the XP-tan desktop mascot I made from frame by frame jpeg of the movie clip at the downloads section using 'Apricot', a japanese RSS reader desktop mascot program. You need to install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or above to use the program.

By the way, it's a "files that have not been accessed for 90 days are deleted" file.

I forgot to replace something in the folder.
Please download this script and replace the Apricot\Characters\XP-Tan\XP-Tan.xml.
Oh, right click the program for the menu to change character!
There are two extra character inside it.

It's not perfect but if you know how to edit the script you can control how she talks.
Here is the 'Apricot' character making guide, if you know japanese.

i distinctly remember having a program that turned .swf into .exe so you could have a desktop object (similar to Desktop X but you dont need to install anything to rum the objects). if someone finds a .swf of any OS-tan (recommended one with a transparent background) i can find the program and make the object.

I have the small xp screen mate that this post discussed at the first 3 pages. And has for that Bouncy XP desktop, it's kinda cute but I guess if she turns into an exe she would eat ram. XP-Chan is good at that, sadly. lol But yes I'm on the hunt for her. I have the small cute useless one and a NAru window watcher mascot. It's fun. activate those too and Naru actually sits on top of Windows XP's screenmate. Shame having someone sitting on your jead when both are window sitters. Lmao.
